EVERY family has one.
A person that takes things
LITERALLY.
We have our own.
Little Lulu!
I call her
Literal Lulu.
You have to see the humor
in the little things when
you live with someone that is literal.
This happened a couple of years ago,
when Lulu was a bit younger.
TPot (Momma) is cruising stations on the radio.
TPot (Momma) is cruising stations on the radio.
I hate when people do that, don't you?
A preacher is on the radio.
He intones at the end of his sermon
"Without God we are but dust."
There is a stricken intake of breath in the backseat.
"What’s the matter, Lulu?’
What is BUTT dust?"
What? WHAT? What are you talking about?
"Well, the guy on the radio says that without God
we are BUTT dust!"
TPot is stricken with laughter that bubbles up
and flows out of her mouth before she can squelch it.
TPot has spewed her Starbucks
(oh-so-expensive -but-ever-so-good coffee out through her nose).
Suspiciously, from the back seat,
comes the dreaded (and oft repeated) question....
"WHAT’S SO FUNNY?"
TPot pretends she is coughing
(which provides her with an excuse not to answer).
She gives her the standard answer
that every parent/grandparent uses to
cover up every laugh at the child’s expense-
"Nothing’s funny- I just
swallowed the wrong way"
Oh!
That is just ONE of the many little
laughs we have had over the years.
Here is one unique way that this
girl operates.
The other day there was a piece
of errant ice that missed the
cup when it came out of the ice dispenser in
the fridge.
Rather than wipe it up..
Lulu prepared a
WARNING sign instead.
Ummm-hmmmm...
and you thought that
SweetCheeks was the only
one that gives us a good laugh
in the family.
How sad is it that I laugh
AT someone and not
WITH them?
Cuz...I am just THAT person!
First night out on the road with
the kids...so far...so good..

I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read this, because I would have done exactly the same as TPot! You can just imagine what was going through Lulu's mind as she tried to picture butt dust, lol.
ReplyDeleteThat is a riot Dianna!!
ReplyDeleteHave a fun, safe trip ~ tell Mickey I will see him in a few weeks! You must visit the Canada pavillion in Epcot and watch Off Kilter...cute guys in kilts!!
They keep us young with that stuff, Diana! Whether you are a parent or a grandparent. I had to laugh at the "butt dust"; it's amazing what they hear sometimes.
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your big trip! Give Mickey a kiss for me.
ReplyDeleteOh, I see how you operate! Slipped off without inviting me along...
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm glad you have 2 of those funny granddaughters.
Enjoy your trip.
Oh how funny! The butt dust and the ice sign...too cute.
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh thats funny, poor little one,
ReplyDeleteI love that warning sign!
ReplyDeleteTalking about "thinking out of the box".
Have you thought that maybe she's the one with all the sense in the Family?
m.
I think Butt dust could be a new word for tooter rooter.
ReplyDeleteHave fun. Like you could have anything but fun. Tell Minnie I miss her. Take lots of pictures. Travel safe.
Diana, How funny. Kids are wonderful, they are good for our souls. Once my s-i-l told my g.son to choke up on the bat(Baseball), Jake being only 4 starts to cough on the bat.:):) They take what we say for fact, when they are so young. God bless them. take care on the roads. xo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI like the sign. Maybe she will be a lawyer.
ReplyDelete"Butt Dust".. : ) I can hear the panick in her.. : ) as we have a son just like that... someone once told him at the table as he salted his food," You are going to have a heart attack with that much salt"
ReplyDeleteThe whole table gasped, as we all said,.."wrong child to say that to" ...he was small & it was yrs. before he used salt again.. : )
Have fun at Disney!!!!
How funny, Diana! You have some little grandchildren that keep you in stitches, it seems!:-) Keep smiling, and have a good trip. Wave when you pass through Tennessee!
ReplyDeleteBoth of these stories gave me a good laugh, Diana! I would be smiling all day with these kids around!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a wonderful and safe trip!
XO,
Jane
Being able to laugh is a good thing. Being the person that makes others laugh is also a good thing. I'm glad you have dearhearts in your family who bring you to laughter.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
Love,
Patti
Thanks for the laugh. Kids do say the darnest things.
ReplyDeleteYour right we all have use the excuse we were coughing. Matter of fact I still use it on my grown children...think they still believe it?
ReplyDeleteLisa
So funny...you behave yourself on this trip, Diana. I have a feeling that you are the wildest kid in the bunch!
ReplyDeleteButt dust is funny! That poor girl- known many people like that and you got to love them. She's such a sweetie, but she sure didn't take after you.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a fun and safe trip. Be careful with those grandkids and don't sell them while you are down there, no matter what price is offered.
Well, I'm laughing, too! So you aren't alone there. What a funny girl!
ReplyDeleteOkaaaaaaayyyyyy.....NOW I know who she takes after.
ReplyDeletelolol!
PS My bags are still packed and I'm still waiting by the door.....

ReplyDeleteLove it thanks for sharing have a great trip joann
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely hysterical. I love kids humor and the way they "interpret things"
ReplyDeleteIt reminded me of a story, many years ago, when My youngest was not quite 4.
We were on a trip and mentioned that we had been on this road before.
My son said, well, when was that.
I said, A long time ago, you were still in mommies tummy.
He stated "YOU MEAN I WAS A KANGAROO"
We never forget these little gems they come up with.
Adorable story! It must be a laugh a minute around that place. Hugs, Ginger
ReplyDeleteOK Diana, this one definitely needed a drink alert! Tea went down the front of my nightgown! Here I am, up earlier than my sweetie, trying to be ever so quiet and you post about "butt dust!"
ReplyDeleteYou family has more fun than the average family for sure! Isn't great to be above average!!??
Blessings,
Donna
