My father would have loved
My daughter, the redhead.
Well, he would have loved
ALL my kids had he lived,
but he would have
looked at Mimi and
said that she
"looks like an Irish roadmap"
which, by his standards,
would have been a compliment
of the highest order.
And, for some reason,
she is the one that is
"taken" by all things Irish.
You know that I have been
staying with her during her
C-Section recovery
and helping with
BigBoyE and Charles-In-Charge.
One of the things we did this
past week was dig out
her Christmas stuff.
Her main living room is filled
with all the bright colors of
a traditional Christmas-
red & green.
A room decorated for kids
and family.
A room decorated for kids
and family.
Naughty & Nice take their
rightful place.
There's a little bit of whimsey here~
And a book and puzzle stacked
to enjoy later~
And a bird with a yarn ball~
Her entry porch, however,
is another story.
It is a nod to her
Irish Heritage.
Just a little
Bit 'O Christmas.
It starts on a table filled
with the doll I gave her
the day she got married.
An Ashton Drake doll

Loving Heart of the Irish Bride.

An Ashton Drake doll
called
Loving Heart of the Irish Bride.
She has a tree that is filled with
Irish ornaments-
One little angel with her crown in place...
One little angel with her crown in place...
A sweet little rose in her hair angel...
And no self-respecting Irishman
is without his own personal
leprachaun.
A wee lass in a cup...
And a lad with his shamrocks..
But the BEST DECORATION
of all
is this little
Irish Elf Himself.
And HE was conceived in Ireland!
Now if we can just keep
him AWAY from the tree!
You are just the best Nana ever. He is one cute little Irish thing.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun and special to incorporate your heritage into your holiday. And that BabyE is one adorable boy! I know, it's BigBoyE now, but can't we keep him little just a bit longer?
ReplyDeleteMy mother LOVES her Irish heritage... she is 1/2, but you'd think it was all that mattered :-)
ReplyDeleteAdorable little guy, there.
how cute Diana! I am half Irish, on my Mothers side. Needless to say, my Grandmother was all things Irish. I think the Italian in me bugged her just a weee bit lol! Beautiful ornaments and little Man in that cardigan vest is way too cute!
ReplyDeleteHow nice you are staying with your daughter, Diana! Last year, when my daughter had her C-section she stayed with us since they only had a one bedroom apartment. Her ornaments are so perfect for her Irish theme. Did she get any of them while in Ireland? Big Boy E looks so cute! I'm dealing with the touching thing this year myself as my granddaughter is into everything at 16 months. I did try to think ahead though and when doing my tree I put any breakables above her reach height!
ReplyDeleteHi Diana! I've missed you while I was away! Looks like all is well with you- you are a special Nana and a very special Mom. I've got some Irish in me, too, but it's my oldest son who has the real interest. Hope we can travel to Ireland together one day. E is adorable! Good luck with the tree- LOL!
ReplyDeleteThe Irish-themed decorations are so pretty. Thinking about it, I should have some of these myself as I discovered I had Irish ancestors a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't BigBoyE look smart!
So many cute Irish ornaments! The last one and cutest one, is too big to hang from the tree, right?
ReplyDeletehow lovely is that, its always such an amazing thing when traditions and followings are ingrain in his from centuries and rekatives from the past. The strong Irish conection for your daughter is such a wonderful gift, it never ceases to amaze me the time and care our heavenly father took creating each one of us.He didn't mass produce, each one of us have our own sperate personalities, he gave her the touch of the irish, beautiful,
ReplyDeleteI don't know if there is any way to keep a toddler away from a tree. Grace redecorated mine the other day. I really thought it looked nice, but as I packed my purse, phone and money to take her to Nations of Fun, she re-did it. I walked in there and there were ornaments lined up neatly in the floor and she was placing them on the tree. Her explanation, "Your tree wasn't beautiful, so I'm fixing it for you!"
ReplyDeleteSo... if you have a little one and you don't want your tree fixed - it must be beautiful to begin with!
How fun to be with your daughter at this time. I have a red head too and consider it such a blessing! Love all her decorations too! ;D
ReplyDeleteWe have sooo much in common, Diana! My maiden name is Fitzgerald! My daughter's are Kelly, Erin, and Melissa. My granddaughter that has the temper is Kayla...she has the red hair, and green eyes. I LOVE Celtic music! AND I have a grandson named Ethan!!!!
