R Is For Rats

R Is For Rats....

MyHero turned his nose up
in disgust.
He wanted to know....
What kind of normal person
wants to use
RATS
when they decorate?

Well, I informed him,
I NEVER SAID
I
was normal.

But THEN I had a
LIGHTBULB MOMENT!

Hmmm...if they are selling
RATS in all the stores...
there must be some other
RAT LOVING people out there.

I found the first one perched
on top of my books
on the table behind my sofa..
Wha????

Then there was one on my mantle...

Who was joined by a crow...

And one on the stairwell newel post...

Keeping company with
The Pumpkin Fairy
that hangs over his head.

And another out
by the front entrance...

sneaking up on that poor
little unsuspecting
Trick-Or-Treater.

And apparently,
the rats scared the
witch away
because all this is left behind
is her hat.

This crow flew from the
rats to seek  safe haven
in a birdhouse
that is much too small.

Whew...Well, that's all
the RATS I spotted
so far.

But those rascals that
visit here brought me a present.
They said,
Nana, this is perfect for you!
Hmmmmm...

Wonder what the
hidden message is here?
I'll get YOU, my pretties...
Wait til I come to YOUR house!
Yeah...just you wait....
And ALL OF YOU bloggers
better be nice to me too!

  1. Got to admit... it was a little difficult to continue past your first photo. Rats are a little skeevie. Fun decorating for the season!

The witch and those nasty flying monkey's totally scared me since I first saw them in childhood! The OLD bat is looking a bit less frightening :)

  3. It took A LOT for me to come visit you, seeing that picture of the rat gave me chills, dont' know that there are many who are as PETRIFIED as I am over these gross rodents. YUCK!!!! I could never bring myself even for Halloween to decorate with them...I just wouldnt' sleep knowing there is a plastic rat in my home, I would have a nightmare that it would come to life and pounce on me in bed...BOOO!!!!!!!!

  4. I think I'll let the rats stay at your house, Diana. They're a little too creepy for me. I just read a few of your other posts. Your ASCP desk is just darling, I can't wait to see the cushion. It looks like you had fun at the Swedish restaurant with BabyE--I'm with him, eat all the sugary stuff!!

  9. What a clever & cute decor & story, Diana. How creative you are! But I'll pass on those wee critters.

We were not up as far as Bradford Co., but what a lovely drive. We will try to get up further this next week before my surgery. Colors are really late in getting along & are just now starting to come in full array. Should be awesome. I will be posting the roads traveled in a couple days in 3 parts ... enjoy!

    Have a wonderful week ~

  10. Well Rats! Cute decorating idea. I can send you a few cats that will take care of the rats, if you like.
Pink has 2 younger siblings that look a lot like him.

  11. *LOL* We have to keep our decorations cute here.... nothing too scary. After all, I wouldn't want to frighten any of the Mommies and Daddies of my grandchildren. (I think the babies are braver than they give them credit for) But - when the kids were young Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimph was a favorite read aloud.

  12. You are so cute! I love the rats! I only have the paper silhouette ones, but they are so fun. Rats are actually very intelligent animals and make great pets but I am sure that that wouldn't convince your hubby to like them. Mine doesn't like them either, actually he is scared of the little field mice that get in our house sometimes! babies! :) LOL!

  13. You crack me up!
I keep telling myself that the black paper silhouettes I have are MICE. Yes, mice. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

From one old bat to another -- BOO!

  15. Hi Diana! Although he sure is cute, I think it'd still scare the living daylight out of me when I wake up still groggy before my morning diet coke! LOL!
I'm terrified of them in real life, along with snakes -- eeeeeeek! So, I'll admire yours from afar.

  16. OK, you maybe are not normal. You're unique!
However, you will not find any rat decorating around here. I agree with your hubby on that!
Bats? There I make an exception. So you, Ol Bat
are welcome to drop by my house any ol time!

  17. Ok, now you really have gone batty, haven't you, Diana? (pun intended!) I think I'd be afraid to come and visit you now! Maybe those rats need a little bit of glitter, and they might not look so scary!!!
