Here we are-
On a hot August day
in 1975.
Where has the time gone?
If you're wondering
where I am
TODAY-
I am here-
A beautiful place to
celebrate any occassion..
A perfect place to
celebrate a
36th
Anniversary.
When anyone asks how
long we have been married
we respond in unison
36 YEARS.
He says- Seems like yesterday.
I say- Seems like forever.
The straightman
and the
joker.
We make quite a pair.
It has not been an easy
36 years, despite what it
may look like from the outside.
We both came out of broken
relationships....
and probably should have gotten
to really know each other
BEFORE we got married.
We dated 30 days before
we said
I DO
under an old oak tree
in
Alva, Florida.
There were lots of ups and downs
over the years.
Some easy to accept,
others much harder to deal with.
BUT-
If WE can do this-
If WE can hang in there for the long haul,
then I believe that if
two people really
WANT TO
make a relationship work...
they can...
and will...
and should.
You just lean together
and look towards
God
and see what happens.
AMEN
Happy anniversary and hope you both have a great weekend away together. Love your wedding photo! Hugs- Tete
ReplyDeleteHi Diana,
ReplyDeleteI loved reading your post today. First of all Happy Anniversary!
I too wore daisies in my hair, my floppy hat and daisies all the way down the front of my gown!
We've been married for 37 years and just like yours, it's been tough at times. We only knew each other for a short time too. We met in April and married in May, so we spent a few years just getting to know one another and at times it was very hard and I mean hard.
Reading our post makes me realize that you and I really have lots in common. Thanks for sharing your heart.
hugs
Sissie
Oops, meant to say, reading your post.

Oh my sweet Nana, thank you for sharing your wisdom with the rest of us. 36 years is a great accomplishment and I am so happy that there are people like you who inspire and still believe that a marriage is forever. I am so blessed to have you in my life even if its only through these cyber waves. Congratulations to you and your hero, here's to many more to come ! God Bless ! xo

Happy Anniversary! 36 years is great!
ReplyDeleteHello Nana....What an inspiring post...I will be married 42 years to my sweet and gentle husband...it is a second go around for us both!
ReplyDeleteWe did know each other for two plus years before saying "I do.", but living together and with a combined eight children was a learning adventure....he was more grounded in what to expect...me? Not so much. I thought it would be all honey and roses, but I learned and while we sure did have the ups and downs I can't imagine life without him and I hope he feels that way about me, too.
Happy Anniversary and may you have many, many more!
Many Sweet Blessings,
Jil

ReplyDeleteYou are a smashing couple and that is an amazing story-only 30 days!
I'm sure you've been through thick and thin together and it really speaks of your devotion to one another to have made it for 36 years.
I know I never would have made it for almost 38
years without the Lord at my side.
You both have a grand time there in Munising!
Happy Anniversary! Wow, 36 years! May you have many, many more.

Happy Anniversary - I can't believe you married a guy who was wearing a powder-blue leisure suit. Too bad his fashion sense hasn't changed. Have fun on your weekend away! Love you both!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary, Diana! You make a beautiful couple. We dated exactly one year to the day when we got married and I feel we spent the first few years getting to know one another. It wasn't all bliss, but that takes time. We celebrate 25 years in December and I hope many, many more!!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
