She wore flowers in her hair-
Yes she did!
49 years of marriage started here-
on the riverbank in Alva, Florida.
Whoop-de-doo
When did I get wrinkles and
when did his hair disappear?
~sigh~
when did his hair disappear?
~sigh~
The bride wore a Gunne Sax gown
and the groom wore a
BLUE LEISURE SUIT!
lol
Then, we had to re-marry
a few years later
IN A CHURCH
just to make everyone happy!
And where are those pictures?
Yeah- I am wondering that, too!
Hope you all have a wonderful day.
I am planning on doing the same!

Happy Anniversary, we will be 40 years soon, married in the courthouse by the woman who sold us the marriage license, in Bradenton, old courthouse. I have never worn anything that had a name. unless you count Walmart brands. My wedding dress in 1963 was made from a pattern by a lady who made dresses in her home. it had a HOOP skirt. oh my!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty you were on your wedding day. I wore a gunny sax dress similar to yours.
My dress cost twenty three dollars.
We made the food and baked the cake.
The wedding bands were thin gold plain bands.
We've been married for forty six years.
The thing I remember most was my cat stealing the canapes we were serving off the tray!
Best wishes for manyore.
Happy, Happy Anniversary!! Gorgeous then, gorgeous now!! Big hugs!! xo
ReplyDeleteFunny story...if my 1st, love of my life, husband had not decided he needed to be 'free' after 10 years of marriage, I would be celebrating my 47th anniv this year too [married 9/17/1977) - had a peach & yellow wedding with the guys in brown with peach vests, lol. So 1970s. And our 1st apartment had avocado and yellow decor and our living room furniture all browns with yellow, rust, etc plaid. Holy Cow. And even funnier? After many years apart, after both of us had 2nd marriages that ended, we became friends, yes just friends, again and when he had a full nervous breakdown (PTSD, he was a survivor of the Beirut bombing in 1980s and he came back to haunt him many years later), he was almost homeless so I just couldn't have that for him, and allowed him to move into my 2nd bedroom in Oct 2000 ! And we have been roommates ever since. Every now and then he calls me his girlfriend when he refers to me, lol. I call him my room mate !! And he is my emergency contact on everything and explaining him to my life insurance as to our relationship (or doctor papers, etc) is a riot. Anyways, happy anniversary and on 9/17, my buddy and I will celebrate 47 not married years. I have actually know him for 49 years. Dawn P. Albany, GA USA
ReplyDeleteOH OOOPS!!!! I put 47th anniver for you, I meant to say happy 49th. Good Grief. LOL And by the way, I loved Gunne Saxe !!! Dawn P.
ReplyDeleteAww, those pictures are so sweet. Happy Anniversary! Leisure suits were all the rage at one time =) My hubby had several but I never wore a gunne sax. (Mennonite and homemade dresses was my norm!)
ReplyDeleteDear Diana, congratulations. "When did I get wrinkles and when did this hair disappear?" I often ask myself the same question! You are as beautiful and radiant today as you were then :-)
ReplyDeleteDearest Diana ~ Congrats on your 49 years with the love of your life.
