Are you scared of
PARASKAVEDEKATRIAPHOBIA?
Are you scared that you
MIGHT HAVE A DISEASE
with such a long, weird name?
Maybe you have it and don't even know it.
I do!
I have it to some extent!
I might have a touch of
PARASKAVEDEKATRIAPHOBIA!
I do NOT like Friday the 13th!
No, indeedy!
Are you superstitious?
Are there certain things you avoid doing?
Do you spill salt and throw some over
your left shoulder to avoid bad luck?
Do you avoid walking
UNDER A LADDER?
Does a rocking chair rocking with no one in it
means there will be a death in the family?
Do you believe bad luck and deaths
comes in threes?
Do you think it will bring you
bad luck if a black cat crosses your path?
Nope! Me either.
HOWEVER-
I DO NOT LIKE THE NUMBER 13!
I won't buy a house
(and we have had 16 of them)
with a THIRTEEN in the address.
I won't buy a house that has
THIRTEEN STEPS.
Nope! No. I . Won't.
Did you know that when they hang people
there are
THIRTEEN STEPS
leading up to the gallows?
Do you think those being hung
count them?
Is their last thought-
WOW! They were RIGHT
13 IS an UNLUCKY NUMBER!
Did you know:
Most hotels don't have a 13th floor?
There are many bible references to 13?
There were 13 people at the Last Supper-
There is a 40%+ decline in houses that
close on Friday the 13th.
Places offer discounts to couples that will
book their wedding on a Friday the 13th.
And-perhaps the most important thing of all?
It takes 13 Witches to form a Coven?
Well, I won't be joining the other
TWELVE OF YOU TODAY.
This old witch will be staying home,
sucking down coffee
and watching old movies today
cuz ya just never know what
danger lurks outside on
FRIDAY THE 13TH!
I AM FEELING BETTER!
Coughing less.
I have been in bed since Dec 28th.
My Christmas decorations are still up-darn it!
I have a lab appt on Monday and a
follow up with a doctor on Thursday.
I am hoping that this coming week
sees a real turnaround for me.
I NEED to be well and get back
to my usual nonsense.
However, because today is
FRIDAY THE 13TH
I will stay in bed!
How about you?
Do YOU have any superstitions?
I bet you do---even if it is a simple one--
like always kissing someone goodbye--
---just in case---
Here's a little
GOOD LUCK KISS
for you today!
Pucker up, baby!
Have a great weekend--
just in case I don't make it back here-----
Friday the 13th is my family’s lucky day. My grandfather was born on Friday the 13th. He’s the reason we are here today! ( not kidding my mom told us this since we were little and it’s always held true 🤷♀️)
ReplyDeleteMy Dad was born on a Friday 13th, and he was a lucky guy!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteIs it bad luck to tell you, '13' is my favorite number? I don't consider myself superstitious, but do my best to avoid any interaction with the number '6.' Yes, my hubby thinks I'm crazy when I won't step into #6 check-out lane even when it means standing longer in #5 or #7.
One retail job that I had, if the register rung any form of 666, almost every customer immediately bought something else, just to change that number.
ReplyDeleteMy sister was born on Friday the 13th and we love her to bits. I'm not superstitious at all.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to see this post from you, and know you are some better! Please let me know the results of your test and appontment!!Really! These Friday the 13th facts ROCK!! I did not know many of them! No, I am not superstitious. And walking under a ladder just makes sense. Gosh, you have moved a lot! How come?
ReplyDeleteWe'll miss you at the coven gathering!
ReplyDeleteI'm not superstitious at all!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are finally feeling better. Hope this coming week brings a lot of improvement. In the meantime, coffee and a movie sounds nice and cozy. Though I'm sure you're going stir-crazy and want to be up and about doing things!
xoxo
I don't get too wigged out by such things, but I avoid 666. Social Security # with three consecutive sixes? No thanks. Ditto credit cards and license plates.
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon.
I do not like the number 666 and will avoid it at all cost. 13 does not bother me and neither does the date really. I bought a lottery ticket today because I thought maybe the date would be a good one for me. god is always in control so I have nothing to fear ,correct?
ReplyDeleteI'd completely forgotten that today is Friday the 13th until I read your post!!!
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you are feeling better, hope your lab appt and Doctor follow up go well.
Thinking of you and sending my good wishes.
All the best Jan
Yes, i do believe in superstitions, I got that from my mom. So yes to your questions.
ReplyDeleteNo real superstitions. I always count steps but mostly to put them in my mind so when I go down I won't miss one!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are on the mend!
Great post..I think the old Dianna is back..You must be feeling better..I sure hope so..It seems like forever..No, I am not superstitious..Did I even spell that right??
ReplyDeleteToday was a wonderful Friday the 13th. I had my annual Wellness checkup and was given an excellent report! It seems I could remember the three words, and draw a clock and tell time. Of course I can't remember where I left my reading glasses.
ReplyDeleteI've never been suspicious about anything but I truly enjoys your blog and the pictures. What a hoot.
I must confess...when I was a child and walking to school I wouldn't step on a crack, for fear of breaking my mothers back.
No, I'm not superstitious at all. In fact 13 is my lucky number.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are feeling better.
A whole bunch of interesting things about 13! I am not superstitious about anything, not even a little. Sorry!! But I do respect those who are and won't poke fun because it is real to them. May tomorrow bring better health and some sunshine into your day!! Love & hugs!
ReplyDeleteFunny stuff. If I thought you were really superstitious I'd pray for you. LOL. It's just another day and another number. I am happy you are starting to feel better...I can tell you must be because you are back to your funny stuff. Take care and take it easy as you get back to "normal" (whatever that is). God bless you dear friend! He's got you covered no matter WHAT day it is!
ReplyDeleteI'm not superstitious but anything that happens to go wrong on a Friday the 13th I will blame it on the day.
ReplyDeleteMy first baby was born on the 13th...we've even had really cool Friday the 13th Birthday parties for her. My favorite was a Scooby Doo themed one with a mystery hunt that ended up in our basement with the treasure hidden among a room filled with white balloon ghosts. Not scary at all! Glad you're feeling better!! xo
ReplyDeleteDidn't use to be so superstitious but these days are making me wonder...lol
ReplyDeletehugs
Donna
I guess it runs through my mind when
ReplyDeleteI hear Friday the 13th hype!
Never have counted the steps in this
house, I have lived here for 30 years.
I am counting NOW, I will let you know!
My husband and I were married on July 13th and honeymooned in Italy where we found the number 13 to be good luck. I bought a gold 13 charm to commemorate the trip and never thought of 13 as unlucky again. We celebrate our anniversary every month on the 13th with a small gift to each other.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better! You'll be up and around with a spring in your step by next week!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're feeling better. I'm not majorly superstitious, I forgot about yesterday being the 13th, but I won't walk under a ladder. I've never lived in a house number 13 but if I was moving and a terrific house number 13 was availalbe I would buy it. I would get spooked by an empty rocking chair rocking though!!
ReplyDeleteWe really did enjoy this. Nope not superstitious but always love the stories of superstitions. Some you mentioned we hadn't heard. I am smiling, when our oldest son got his Social Security number it had 666 in it, he tried to get it changed but to no avail. LOL
ReplyDeleteLove from a chilly 37 in Florida!
Sherry & jack
nary a superstition in my mind. the only number I notice is 666, the mark of the beast and that is because it stands for Satan, and he is real, not a superstition. per my hubby I AM a witch..he has called me that a couple of times.. and not the kind that casts spells. hope the doctor can figure out why you have been ill for 2 weeks. hope you feel better soon. I just had a thought pop in my head, Oct 13, 2020 was the best thing ever happened to me. We adopted our precious Beau... he was born on Oct 14th. I have to say my first marraige was on Sept 22, 1963 and we got married in a hurricane and the marraige was a hurricane from the get go
ReplyDeleteNOpe.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest daughter, she was born Sept. 13....(she's the one that moved away)
I used to tho...when I was in elementary school...my knee often went out of joint on Fri the 13....it was almost clockwork...My poor Dad got calls to come and get me...almost every Fri 13th....
But gladly....I grew up (and out...LOL)...
In fact I didn't even realize yesterday was the 13th....I was busy sewing...
You make me laugh....feel better my friend....
Nancy
So glad you are feeling better and hope you get a good doctors report! I'm not superstitious and believe every Friday is a Good one ! That comes from many years of working and looking forward to the weekend!
ReplyDeleteI used to have a black cat and she crossed my path many times. so I don't worry about that. Think only positive thoughts and hopefully you'll soon be back to normal days!
This got emailed to me today, the 14th, thankfully. Because I was blissfully unaware that yesterday was Friday the 13th! I had my first ankle surgery on Friday the 13th, and look where I still am today, 10 and a half years later. I still have pain; still can barely walk after surgery #3 last June.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Feel better…the only one I don’t like is the black cat,but then I am allergic to cats and really do not care for them…sorry…
ReplyDeleteI was born on Friday the 13th and yesterday was my birthday so I I can't be too superstitious. My mother was born on Halloween which makes it fun in my family.
ReplyDeleteOk, now you're creeping me out! 😂 I am not overly superstitious but I do avoid tempting fate. Don't open an umbrella in the house, don't put your shoes on the table ( altho I always figured the bad luck of that one was that your mom would smack you for putting dirty shoes on the table), but I'm more inclined to be "stupidstitious". I have a fear of dumb people. 🤣 Glad you're starting to feel better! Hope your doctor appointments go well this week. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteJust got this in my breaking news. Friday the 13th ticket bought and Won te Billion dollars
ReplyDeleteMaine scored its first Mega Millions jackpot — and someone beat the ill fortune of Friday the 13th — when a ticket purchased in the state matched the winning numbers for the lottery's estimated $1.35 billion grand prize
I never think much of the number 13. But probably would avoid the number 666. We had a girl refuse to take a student ID # that had 666 in it.
ReplyDeleteI saw a headline earlier that someone in Maine had a lucky Friday the 13th, winning some amount of millions in the lottery :-)
ReplyDeleteI've never given the number 13 a thought nor FRiday the 13th. Sure hope you are up and at it very soon. Being down is tough, wishing you goo health!
ReplyDeleteI hope you recover more quickly now that you have survived Friday the 13th! I’m not superstitious but when I got married I followed the “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” for a happy marriage!
ReplyDeleteThis is Terri Steffes! ❤️
DeleteThis is great. I do not give Friday the 13th much thought but I did know about the 13 steps to be hung. They also use 13 rounds of rope in the noose. Yikes. Glad you are feeling better. xoxo Kris
ReplyDeleteGlad to read that you are feeling better. Hope the doctor's appt. etc., go well and you get a clean bill of health. Yes, I'm superstitious, but, I think my superstitions are a bit different; for us, seeing a stray black cat is considered good luck! :D
ReplyDeleteSo happy you are much better!
ReplyDeleteThat's a long time to be sick:( I hope today is a good one and you will be all better REAL soon! I am a little superstitious... black cat crossing the road in front of my car has me either turning around or putting x on the windshield for each family member and there are MANY of those, so turn the car around. I won't walk under a ladder and I was aware that Friday was the 13th and got my hair done anyway, hehe. I will pray for better days ahead for you my friend, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteDiana, such an interesting post. I have never been superstitious. I feel it is like any other day.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are feeling better. It does take time to get over pneumonia. Have a wonderful week ahead. xoxo
Glad you are doing better. I have never given superstition a second thought. My hurdle to get over in life has been that I'm a perfectionist, a trait I picked up from my dad. I struggle when I must live with imperfection :), so I struggle a bit too much. It's a great irritation when things aren't done exactly the way I want them done. I've worked really hard at letting go of perfection after my husband has taken over the garden work. I try to look at my garden with rose colored glasses...it hasn't helped :'(
ReplyDeleteUgh Diana I'm sorry you've been so sick ... I was down for two weeks with strep throat so I can totally commiserate. I hope you're feeling much better now. I am not overly superstitious although my father did die in a plane crash on Friday, September 13, 1968. I always notice the date with a bit of nervousness ... even in advance, every time the first of the month is a Sunday, because I know that a Friday the 13th is coming. The only thing I refuse to do in my house is to turn over a calendar -- either a wall one or a daily one -- even one minute before midnight. I feel like it would be bad luck to assume the next day will come, haaahaha! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI'm superstitious about a lot of stuff and the #13 is just one of them. Glad to here you are feeling better!
