St. Patrick's Day is coming!
Yes it is!
I grew up in an
Irish Community
in Pennsylvania.
Do you know I believed in
Leprechauns until I was at
least 12 years old?
Yes.I.Did.
Matter of fact,
I still believe in them.
I always associate them
with Shamrocks.
And, my girls do, too.
A few years ago they blessed me
with several sweet pieces of
Irish China.
For years I took a little time
to play with it....
When we moved I gifted it to my
Irish daughter, Mindy Rose.
And shamrocks-
Lordy-I love shamrocks!
I will be putting a few of these
here and there in the
living room window
when I find them at the store.
They always make me smile.
Come St. Pat's Day-
I will be paying homage to my
Irish heritage and hoping that
THE BAD LEPRECHAUNS
don't bring me bad juju.
And there ARE a few bad
ones out there!
Now I KNOW some of you
MIGHT NOT BELIEVE
in leprechauns
but here I show you true
and irrefutable proof.
I found this on the internet
AND as we ALL know.
EVERYTHING we read on the
internet is true.
God be with ye and I'll be around
a wee bit later to see what
tricks you are up to.
And- I'll be back with the results
of the
Pick Your Favorite St. Paddy's Day table.
What's that you say? Some people don't believe? I've got a wee bit of the blarney in my blood, and I love me some Shamrocks too! I had bought a plant as I do every year, and I found a different one at the nursery called the Iron Cross, it has a very pretty center, no flowers on it yet. Do you save your Shamrocks from year to year? I read they will come back.
ReplyDeleteI am part Irish. I am a believer!
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to collect Belleek China and I have inherited a few pieces that I treasure. She was not a person who had or wanted a lot of material goods, but I remember how happy she was when she would receive a package from Ireland. It was her heritage (and my dad’s also) and I am sure it brought back some memories of her mom.
ReplyDeleteWishing you all the luck of the Irish on St. Patrick's Day. This is a cute post and yes I believe in the we folk. They are everywhere. Especially in the garden. I'll be eating my corned beef and cabbage and enjoying the celebration.
ReplyDeleteLoved the post. I remember mama would always say we were part Irish. It seemed no matter which branch of service I was drawn to the guys most Irish. Especially the ones still having 'THAT' accent. Loved it. They were prone to 'sing' more and I loved the 'ditties' as they called them.
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun read, and yep, if that came from the internet, I believe it. LOL
Love from Florida,
Sherry & jack
I like shamrocks too! And I want to find that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!
ReplyDeleteAll "The Little People" have nice ones and not nice ones. Just like "The Big People", us. >,-)

That china is so lovely! And yes, I believe in leprachauns, too!
ReplyDeleteThe china is beautiful. I knew a leprechaun: my dad. He was born on St. Patty's Day and grew up with the nickname "Pat." He was the tallest leprechaun ever and the least Irish.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Wonderful post and pictures Diana.

Beautiful dishes..... and always a fun holiday even though not a bit of Irish in me! I’ll be wearing my green ☘️
ReplyDeleteLove your dishes! How perfect for this time of year! I am sure the leprechauns will enjoy having lunch with you with those dishes!! Can't wait for the big reveal of our St. Patrick's day place settings/dinner partners! Thank you for making things so much fun!
ReplyDeleteHello my sweet Irish cousin! You know all four of my grandparents came over from the Emerald Isle. If I’m not mistaken that is Beleek pottery; mine is out on my dining room buffet. I still believe in all the tales I grew up with. I believe the last photo was from the movie Darby O’Gill and the little people.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Noreen
Lovely china! Not a drop of Irish blood in me, though - I suppose that means I won't ever get a chance of finding that pot of gold?
ReplyDeleteThose pieces you gave to Mindy are beautiful. Terry's mom is all Irish so he has a little in him. Happy New Week. Have a good one. xoxo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Belleek china! No Irish blood here, but my husband's family came from Scotland to Ireland, then to Canada (and the USA). We don't really celebrate anything of St. Pat's day. But I'll be at the Table Party!
ReplyDeleteSince I'm a wee bit of Irish myself, I do believe in the little folk
ReplyDeleteThe leprechauns are in lockdown again this year and there will be no parades. Still, the holiday must go on, so there will be a lot of virtual celebrations going on :-)
ReplyDeleteI need to find and catch a leprechaun with a pot of gold so I can buy more dishes, maybe a set with pretty shamrocks like yours. Or maybe I need to buy another storage unit. That way I could lock up the leprechaun and his pot of gold!
ReplyDeleteevery year, i say Kiss me I am Irish. coming soon to a blog near you
ReplyDeleteYou have more than your share of Blarney!! I'm sure you are a believer..I have a bit of Irish in me but I'm also Scotch..I've heard that's nit a good thing?? Hugs...ENjoy your day..Beautiful here..Winter will be back this weekend..
ReplyDeleteDiana, that picture is from the movie "Darby O'Gill and the Little People"!! I love that movie from waaaayy back when! If you haven't seen it, you should look for it. I had the book when I was a kid. Of course, the little people are real!!! Love the china and I love shamrocks too! xo
ReplyDeleteWill you make a St. Patrick's Day meal?
ReplyDeleteMy husband made me a Ruben for dinner last night. YUMMY!
I will make Irish Soda bread next week.
Haaahaha well I be Scots-Irish (maiden name McManus) but I consider meself to be full Irish and take no blarney from no one. Except I kissed the blarney stone for sure, although I've never been near it! Haahaha xoxo
ReplyDeleteLovely post :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
