Every year I like to post this little
-ahem- tutorial on wrapping
SOCKS or MITTENS.
Prepare to spend a lot of time
IN THE BATHROOM
after you read this!
Is there anything more
mundane to wrap than SOCKS????
You KNOW that
you just don't want to
stick them in box
with a bow on it.
Right?
Look! Here's an answer to
your wrapping dilemma.
Well, peeps,
Here we go~
First you must get a sock..
well, make it a pair because
one sock won't work for
MOST people.
How about something like
these-? Cute, huh?
Then you must find some of
those short peppermint sticks.
You can buy them or
someone might send them to you.
Then you must let the
peppermint stick
SNEAK UP ON
the SOCK!
Before you can say
Alla-ka-zam-whoheebobster-helloworld
that peppermint stick
has jumped into the sock
and worked its way down
into the toe.
Can you see it there?
I've pinched it to make it stay
and now I am gonna roll
that little sucker up
into what I like to call
THE SOCK ROLL.
Well, GREAT, we got ourselves
A SOCK ROLL
NOW- what the heck are do we do with that?
Welllllll....
There's another kinda roll
lying around my house
cuz I've been saving them.
Used toilet paper rolls.
No..No..Not used toilet paper..
Used up empty rolls.
They look like this when they are naked.
Don't worry about that little bit of
white tissue left-you won't see it soon.
Find some foil based wrapping paper.
Foil works best because you can
bend the edges down and you
don't have to glue/tape it
lest you want to.
Wrap that foil paper around
that roll leaving about 1/3"
extending over each end.
Simply bend the paper down
so that it overlaps the edge of the roll.
You will not see this when it is
done but you can glue/tape if if you like.
Then..
Sneak up on those socks and
stuff them in the roll.
A roll in a roll.
I'm just keeping myself rolling here!;>)
Remember you won't see this at the end.
Then, take some sweet tissue paper
and cut an 18" x 18" piece~
or thereabouts.
Center the roll in the middle and
starting at one end,
roll that baby up and then
twist the ends so that it
looks like a big old fat
piece of taffy.
Laffy Taffy!
Now is that cute, or what?
I only need to tie a bit of ribbon
around the twist and I'm done.
And, when it's unwrapped
they will see the shiny foil roll
and NOT this..
Cuz the only place we
REALLY want to see THAT
is in the bathroom.
And we don't even really want
to see it there because that
would mean that someone
has used the last piece on
the roll
Okay-that's it-
Now get rolling and wrapping
cuz there's not much time left!
And I'll just say a little prayer for you
to have to go to the bathroom
a whole lotta times
(if you need empty rolls
to wrap your socks)
cuz I am just nice like that!;>)
You can always TRY this if you need
empty rolls in a hurry!
I am just FULL of .......what
good advice!
I will be wrapping up(pun intended)
the Pick Your Favorite Table
in the next day or so.
Bare bear with me.
its beautiful and I can think of a lot of other things that would fit in that roll... also you could do the same with paper towel rolls, and cut it in half or 3rds.. since we are rationigng TP these days and might not get enough rolls. if my mother did this and she had 6 pairs of socks, she would wrap each pair..
ReplyDeleteHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Thanks for the neat advice, well 'cept the last! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove from down here. Be safe
Sherry & jack in a cool Florida
Bahahahahaha! You are hilarious, girl! I've done something like that for years using paper towel rolls and those little stretchy one-size-fit-all gloves for the grandkiddies and roll up a dollar bill for inside each finger (then they get $10 per pair of gloves) and candy in between the hloves in the very center and wrap it about the same. But I like the story that goes with yours better LOL! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI had forgotten the candy cane part!!!!!!!! -smile-
ReplyDeleteThis year, with toilet paper shortages again, people might just appreciate the roll, more than the stocks.
Just to *fondle* and remember the days, when we did not have to *ration* our use of toilet paper...
Mmmmmmm.....
Way too much pondering, I suppose....
But... You know me!!!!!!!!!! -grinnnnn-

Excellent :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my! I had to AVERT MY EYES from that NAKED toilet paper roll. You should have marked this post NSFW!
ReplyDeleteDiana, This is cute. But you have a wicked way of getting empty TP rolls. LOL When I get finished with my stash of TP here, I am going to be able to wrap about a hundred pair of socks. :) Hope you are doing well. Stay strong and healthy. Blessings, xoxo, love you, Susie
ReplyDeleteLoved this!
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas!
TOO funny! And what a great idea! Both pretty and practical!
ReplyDelete...much too fancy for this guy!
ReplyDeleteThat is a cute idea Diana! Have fun wrapping presents!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and cute idea for wrapping socks. Now I just wish I was giving some socks to someone. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about the little sewed heart that you did a tutorial on a few years ago. I use that tutorial all the time. It makes the sweetest little heart for a banner. Valentine's Day is around the corner you'll have to show it again.
Just a thought.
You crack me up. This is awesome. Love this idea. Happy Thursday have a great evening. xoxo Kris
ReplyDeleteThose are best wrapped socks I've ever seen. Such a cute package. Thanks for the laugh at the end with exlax
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't have any sock to give but think I may go get the gran girls a pair just so I can wrap them like this. Sooooo cute!!
ReplyDeleteI remember you’re doing this last year? I used it for masks this year. Cute idea!
ReplyDeleteThat is just the cutest idea!!! Thanks for the fun tutorial!!
ReplyDeleteI love you dearly!!! I am going to do this next year for EVERYBODY I know!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd you are making me famous for using your caramel recipe! We are all LOVING these! I only have a hard time packaging them up because they tend to melt back into a glob. But I started putting the pieces in tiny muffin papers. Now I know why all the Kraft caramels are individually wrapped!!!
Thank you for sharing all this good stuff!!!
Thanks for the tutorial. Leave it to you to include TP rolls in it.
ReplyDeleteFunny and cute. Just like you! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteChristmas crackers! It would be a surprise!
ReplyDeleteI will have to take your creation and try to do it.
Very cute! I do have a pair of socks I want to gift to a cousin... :)
ReplyDeleteHow clever and cute! Too bad I already threw away all my toilet paper rolls! I wish I'd seen this sooner as I do use quite a few too! LOL. But so far I've only bought one pair of socks to give away...oh well...maybe next year! Thanks for the fun!
ReplyDeleteSuper Cute idea!
ReplyDeleteI save toilet paper rolls to wrap my twinkle lights around and I have a few that I can use. I have some socks to wrap yet and this looks like a fun way to do them. Socks are a great gift because everyone needs them.
ReplyDeleteGolly, too bad it isn't colonoscopy time! They remind me of the Christmas crackers, too. Very festive. I might have to rummage through the trash to see what I can find!
ReplyDeleteCute idea for wrapping and rolling. Everyone deserves a new pair of Christmas socks ! Plus they sure would smell good with a peppermint stick inside !
ReplyDeleteI remember as a small child being very disappointed when getting clothes as a present. A peppermint stick inside would have made a whole lot of difference!

ReplyDeleteBrenda
Looks like a large Christmas cracker :-) Those are big here.
ReplyDeleteToo late. I just stuck two pairs of wool socks in a box for my son-in-law. LOL

ReplyDeleteLol, bathroom humor rolled up in wrapping presents. Wonderful! Thanks for the laugh...I will not take your advice or remedy to go...I’ve already wrapped my socks, thank you very much. ROTFL š¤£
ReplyDeleteCecilia
That's so cute! I didn't know that peppermint sticks are in the habit of sneaking up on socks.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
You are always having good advice....that is such a cute way to wrap socks and surprise someone and hope they dont need the laxative!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! I didn't buy socks for anyone and I think sice the tp roll is used, the socks shouldn't be? Too much vintage, right??????
