WORDS FROM THE WORLD OF A FIVE YEAR OLD

Little Miss BrightEyes
has her own take on
EVERYTHING.
I want to post this before
St. Patrick's Day is too long gone.

The day after St. Patrick's Day:

Bright Eyes:  Am I all done wearing green?
Mama said- "Yes~why?"
Bright Eyes- "Because who wants
to walk around looking like
A WEED!
Above she was at a church party.

Mama: Who is your new little girlfriend?
Bright Eyes- Her name is METAL.
Mama:  What?  What's her name?
Bright Eyes- Her name is METAL, I said!
Mama:  Are you SURE that's her name?
Bright Eyes- No-nobody knows her
REAL NAME
so we all just call her METAL.

I am pretty sure Bright Eyes is the one
that bestowed that name on her.

And- there you have it-
Conversations with The Kid!

  8. Good Morning Diana, She is such a sweetie and reminds me of Sweet Cheeks when she was that age. Those grandkids are what keeps us young and gives us a reason to get up in the morning. You never know what they will they say. Hugs and prayers from your Missouri friend Shirley

  9. Sounds like she has a lot of her grandmother's spunk!! That is the best age. I miss teaching kindergarten and when my own kids were that age. Nothing that good ever comes out of their mouths anymore! ;)

  10. She is so funny! I wish I had kept a journal of the funny things my kids said when they were little. You think you'll remember them all...

  11. Thanks for the chuckle, Diana. She is so darn cute! Have a great weekend.

  12. Children are so amazing and the things they come up, just can't be beat. They never cease to make us smile! Your bright eyes is so aptly named! Who could resist those eyes and that smile!

  13. Amazing what one can learn from 'FRESH MINDS' not cluttered with life's problems. I enjoyed this from the bright pictures leading into the words from the 5 year old. Love it. Sending good thoughts and love from NC....

  19. She's the only one who can defeat Thanos.

  20. LOL! Who wants to go around looking like a weed??? Hysterical and interesting thought. Is Metal a shiny person? or loud? haha!

  21. Too cute!! Out of the mouths of babes! Her comment about looking like a weed is hilarious! Thanks for sharing!

  22. That kid is soooo cute. You guys grow them so cute in this family. She looks so cute in the church picture.
Mindy sent me a pic of her and Peggy Sue lounging on the couch the other day. It was so cute.
    Happy Friday Sweet Friend.

  23. You better watch out for that one...she takes after he Nana I think! ;)

  24. I would much prefer conversations with kids at times over conversations with adults lol...kids are so innocent! :)

  25. Words that make you smile. :)

  26. Oh, goodness! Trip's grandmother used to rename people. She thought my name was ridiculous, so she renamed me Beauty. That's what she called me until she passed. I didn't mind.

Bright Eyes is the cutest, and I'm glad she can stop wearing green because clearly it's not a favorite color of hers! ;P

  27. Nothing wrong with any of your family, but this precious little one is my favorite.

  28. Oh she is so adorable.
METAL. LOL, I wonder why she came up with that name. :)

  29. LOL, don't they make you laugh outloud with things they say! My 2 grandsons come out with some wonderful things!! Now Owen has a little southern accent and sometimes it is hard to understand what he is saying. I asked him twice what he said and his answer was, "Nana do you have a bad hearing problem like Papa"!!!! I should start a book of all the funny things they have said!! Have a great weekend!

  30. Oh how cute!! Love her outfit...she surely doesn't look like a weed, but I'll bet she's growing like one! And who'd ever think of a name like "metal" ? She must be very strong!!

  31. Kids come out with the funniest things. :)

  32. It can be not much short of amazing many times talking with a small child!

    ReplyDelete
  33. This was the reason I loved being a school principal. I would get to have conversations like this one every day. I miss that so much.

  34. What a cutie pie! And I admire a child with a vivid imagination. It will serve her well. But she did NOT look like a weed while wearing green! She looked like a cutie pie. NOW ... I am horrified to have to tell you this, but your recent comment on my blog fell into a spam filter, and when I went to get it out, somehow I LOST it. I have no idea what I did or where it went or what happened. I'm so sorry. I did read it but it is not posted. Please forgive me and if you have time, re-comment! xoxo

  35. So sweet! I don't particularly like green so I am good with moving on from it too:) Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!

  36. I remember the show that Art Linkletter had where he spoke with children and how they would say the funniest things. Children always do and create such smiles on our faces. I remember my son calling cows "moo horses." I also remember him being frustrated about how some words are "mispronounced" according to him. He said antiques should be anti-cues! Ah, children.

  37. The cutest little thing ever! Such fun to have these memories..Happy Weekend..xxoJudy

  41. HA!! Keep Conversation's with the Kid as regular posts. LOVE IT!

  42. She's so charming. Apparently she can get away with bestowing names like metal so that's how I know she must be charming. Art Linkletter was right when he named his show "Kids Say The Darndest Things". Bright Eyes would've won him over no doubt!

  43. From the mouths of babes -- adorable!

  44. Oh, look at little Bright Eyes in her cute green outfit. I love it! It's kind of like a mint green, which is a favorite of mine to wear. I hope you had a nice St. Patrick's Day. : )
