I wanted to show you
what I made for my
daughter-in-love
for Christmas last year.
OMGOSH!!!
I just now realized that I dated it
A YEAR A WHOLE YEAR LATER
THAN IT WAS MADE.
Lordy- I guess the blond in me
took over!!!
I watched our little CJK
one night and we made a
HAND MADE
Christmas Tree.
This is 16x20 and I framed it.
It is on a piece of foam board.
I took a brush and 'filled in'
between the finger prints
to give it a brushier look.
We did a
TEST HANDPRINT
on a little piece of foamboard first.
It was too dear to throw out
so I made it into a
LITTLE TREE
for Dad's desk at work.
This one is 8 x 10.
I painted his hand with
acrylic paint and then pressed it down.
You basically paint their little hand
with paint and put it on the tree.
I started at the top and worked my way down
but you could do it either way.
He put the red balls on
with the end of a dowel
dipped into paint and
directions from me as to
where to place the balls.
Didn't he do a great job?
Anyway, just an idea for you.
It's a real memory-maker.
Where did I get the idea
you might ask?
Well, over at my friend,
Ann-Marie's
I spotted it in her Christmas post
hanging on her wall and I
STOLE THE IDEA!
Off for the morning to work at the VA.
Love my vets and co-workers.
My co-workers are a crazy, fun bunch
so I fit right in.
I hope you have a wonderful day
as the countdown to Christmas begins.
I hope you all have family and friends
to share the holidays.
I have relatives coming from near and far....
Smile-You are loved!
This is such a super cute idea. I have been thinking that I want to do something like this with the grand doll for her mommy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea. Wishing you a nice morning with your co-workers and the vets.

ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family a Very Merry Christmas!
My grandchildren are beyond the age of handprint art (tweens and teens), but I so wish I had seen something like this when they were younger. They are priceless keepsakes.
ReplyDeleteHave a very Merry Christmas, Diana, and a very happy New Year.
SO cute:) I have some of those precious keepsakes from my Grandchildren:) Enjoy your day, I know you will be busy spreading cheer! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteThat hand print Christmas tree is just the cutest, Diana! I will remember that for my young grands. Also, your snow babies are just adorable! They're going to miss you when you pack them up!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the quick and easy peanut butter fudge. You know how much I love your yummy caramel recipe, and this one looks every bit as delish! Thank you, Diana! You're the best!
Sooo cute...i know they loved these cute gifts from your heart.....and bet the grand had fun with all that paint on his little hand.

ReplyDeleteI love this! I wonder if I have time to do this with the Grands!!
ReplyDeleteUse to do this with my students when I taught.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adorable! I used to do this with the kids I taught in day care and we also did a wreath on fabric one year and made it so you could hang it up from year to year. Good memories and how very quickly they grow up. Hope all is going well with your holiday plans!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jill

ReplyDeleteThat’s a wonderful keepsake! Very cute! Maxine is hilarious...alas, I may be the relative who is all of the above.
ReplyDeleteI wished I had pinterest when my kids were younger.....they have some really cool ideas like this for kids to do. That is so adorable.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea, Diana! I know parents and grandparents would just love that. Funny about the date, sounds like something I would do! Oh, I love your header. Your granddaughter is just adorable. And is that a cake? It looks so neat!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea. They are beautiful and creative, I love the hand painting. Thank you so much for sending that "surprise" package to me. I shall look for its arrival sometime next month. Have a wonderful, happy and festive Christmas.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute idea! And that Maxine cartoon made me laugh, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the hand prints - they really mean a lot - wonder if you could do one every year and show how he has grown! You have a lot of company coming - Merry Christmas. Sandie♥
ReplyDeleteI wish my grands would make one of these tree picture from the little guys hand prints. I love how Maxine described family. LOL. Blessings to you, hope your day was great. I know those good old boys love you Diana. xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI adore these. My girls have made several, and I have helped little ones make them as well when I taught. I always had to laugh however, because there was ALWAYS one who refused to have either their foot or hand painted. Even despite telling them how mommy would be so disappointed that she didn't receive one like all the other mommies. LOL Yes, we forged a few in our day! :-0
ReplyDeleteSo nice but I'm too old to have a parent or grandparent !!! xxoo
ReplyDeleteFun! I love crafty ideas. Imagine putting littke hand prints on a large white sheet or tablecloth to use and update each Christmas. My mother in law did a similar. Some folks no longer with us when I looked at the drawings and hands. She embroidered over everything. I eould just use fabric paint. Ha! Merry Christmas sweet lady.
ReplyDeleteI do love my "hand" tree made by my granddaughter and it gets hung every year. I had forgotten that you stole the idea! At least you told me that you were. I love the single hand tree too. Too cute! I need to be more of a "hands on" NaNa with my grandchildren and do more crafts with them! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute idea! Sounds like you will have a full house. You know what you can do if they get bored...hand trees! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI remember when you did this last year. What a beautiful and sweet gift. Loved the little hand print test run tree that you gifted your son too. So sweet. These gifts of the heart are the best gifts. Have a great rest of the week as the count down continues to the big day. Love you sweet friend. Merry Christmas.

Those are absolutely adorable! Things like this will be treasured always.
ReplyDeleteAwww, isn't that cute? The test handprint tree is just as cute as can be too. Wonderful idea. Now, I just have to ask...was the paint hard to wash off his hand?
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful and special Christmas.
Hugs, Cecilia
I'm laughing at the Francine clip art!! What a lovely gift this would be for any family member....*sigh* my favorite things are what my girls made for me way back in the day. Have a great day making peoples lives brighter. XO
ReplyDeleteWrong year or not, they are both adorable and a wonderful idea! These kinds of gifts are the ones that are so special!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I love this idea. I'm off to find my green paint. I'm sure I have all the supplies I need...except for Locklan, lol. I'll get him later. Have a blessed holiday, Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeletethis is such a great idea, it looks beautiful and a real treasure to keep,,
ReplyDeletejust as i was about to order your last two snow fellas. one for daughter and one for daughter in law, i got an email daughter had bought one...no more left...boo hoooooo well, she will have one now and I'll give daughter in law mine...boooo hooooo.....
ReplyDeleteOh, Diana, that is the cutest thing. What a great idea and something that will be treasured for years to come. I bet sweet CJ was very proud of his artistic endeavor. I wonder if I could talk Jake's 24 year old hand to do one for me??!! Probably Not!. Have a wonderful Christmas with all your family and Happy New Year too my dear friend..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteThat is adorable and love the 'little' tree as well. I know they will treasure these and one day the kids themselves will marvel at how small THEY were! I have a cloth wreath I made years ago that I had the kids put their hand prints on and then made a cloth gift tag hanging from each hand print. The kids each wrote their own name on the tags. I still treasure that!
ReplyDeleteI love both of the trees, Diana! Such cute ideas for a keepsake. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your friends and family, my friend. I love you. Debbie xo
ReplyDeleteAdorable! We used to do this when I taught. I still have the ones my own kids made, too. Goes by way too fast, doesn't it?
