FILL THOSE CHRISTMAS CARD BOXES AND GIVE THEM AS GIFTS

I have done a post about this before
but I wanted to do it again
just in case you need a
Little sumthin/sumthin to take along
to give as a little gift.

AND you can use those beautiful boxes
that Christmas cards come in---
you know the ones that are so pretty
you don't want to throw them out.
Here is a use for them.
It's the sweetest little gift ever!

This is
THE EASIEST HOMEMADE
PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE
ever.
I wish I could tell you where
I got the recipe but I can't remember.

Here's how to take the box below
and turn it into a
special gift.
Don't you hate to throw them away
because they have such pretty
"faces"?
They make wonderful little
Candy Boxes.
Open the box and line it with tin foil.
Butter the tin foil.
Then make this:
In pan over medium heat melt
2 sticks of butter
When melted stir in
1 cup peanut butter, creamy or crunchy.
Like this.
Stir in one teaspoon REAL vanilla.
Add 2-3/4 cups CONFECTIONERY SUGAR
(not granulated)
(That old tin scoop belonged to my Mom-Good Housekeeping 1954)
I beat it quickly with a hand mixer
(it sets up fast)
and then pour it into the
buttered foil lined box.
Put it in the fridge to harden
and as soon as it sets up
lift it out and wrap it in
parchment paper,
then wrap it with a piece
of ribbon and place it
back in the box.
I pick up knives all year here and there
and include one in each box.
The fudge stays fresh
until they cut it.

Put the lid on and it presents
like this when opened.
Recipe:
SMOOTH AND EASY
PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE
2 sticks butter
1 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2-3/4 cups confectionery sugar
In saucepan:
Melt butter
Stir in peanut butter and vanilla.
Use hand mixer and quickly
mix sugar in. It sets up fast.
Place in tinfoil lined box and
set in fridge until hard.
This is the smoothest peanut
butter candy I have ever made.
This recipe makes two card boxes
full OR 1 8x8 buttered pan.
It's quick, easy and just
a sweet little surprise.
Save a few pieces for your friends.
Let them eat this while you sip
black coffee or diet Coke.
Remember...
The fatter THEY get the
THINNER YOU LOOK
next to them!

It's nice to have some
HEALTHY SNACKS
this time of year, too.
And-to finish up my blathering....
I have just a few
SNOWBABIES left in my
ETSY SHOP!
The little Snowgirls are all gone
but there are a few snowboys
looking for a home.
You can find them here:
Have a GREAT DAY...
I will be finishing up a couple of
Christmas gifts today and then
I AM DONE!!!

CALGON--TAKE ME AWAY...
for all of you youngsters...
that is an old ad for relaxing
in a bathtub!
(which I used to do while floating a
plastic bowl of M&Ms in the tub
while four kids were screaming
outside the door)...
now THOSE were the days!!!!

Have a wonderful Friday
and a great weekend!

  11. Diana, Soaking in a tub....what's that? The kids pounding on the bathroom door would never allow such a thing. LOL. I love you card gift box idea. I some times long for our simpler times . Hope your Christmas plans are falling into place. Ours has changed from so many years of celebrating on Christmas day...we now will be together this weekend. New great grand Leo will be in town this weekend. :) Blessings to all of you. Love, xoxo, Susie

  15. Such a great idea for using those beautiful boxes. I think, though, that if I eat a piece of fudge, you have to eat one, too. That way we can be plump and happy together!

  22. Oh Gosh you make me smile and laugh with your posts. I needed this today. I remember those days of taking a bath with 2 kids and usually the dog and hamster watching me try to relax in the tub. Also do you remember the first day when you could go to the bathroom all by yourself without a kid in there asking you a question!!!! Those were the days. I love love this idea you smart and clever girl. I have always said how pretty a lot of the Lang holiday card boxes are. This is so fabulous to re love them as a candy or fudge box. Your fudge sounds so yummy too. I think after Christmas when all the cards go on clearance I might just have to pick up some to have the boxes for next year. You are the smartest Mrs. Crafty ever!!!! That is why I like you as a friend I can steal your ideas! Happy Friday. Have a good weekend. We are on the down hill slope now into the big day. Glad you got all your snow peeps done and all your Christmas shopping done and wrapped. You go girl.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  25. Cool idea on the boxes. I recycle everything but something like that I tend to store away for when I need to wrap a small gift! Biggest problem is I don't buy cards, I paint mine and have prints made of it.

  26. Oh...sorry, I meant to tell you that I am going to try that amazing looking fudge.

  27. Definitely pinning this -- such a great idea. My only problem is I don't buy cards, I make them so I need to find someone who wants to give me their boxes haha!

  28. The last part of this post made me laugh out loud. Happy these are selling well.

I used to rep my boxes when I was able to write cards

  29. I love this post! Great idea for a sweet gift and it sounds delish. Where do you find the time for all these sweet things....like the gingerbread boys at the door. I do have to do that some year. I sold one of my favorite snowmen today that I had as part of my Christmas decor so I can't wait to get my Jingle Bells to replace it. I am so happy for you that so many of your sweet snow girls and boys have sold!

  30. I remember this post from last year, and such a good idea. I just emptied two boxes of Christmas cards, and I have the ingredients! My problem is that I don't always just sip the black coffee; I'm the one eating the fudge!
I can believe those cute little snowgirls sold out! So cute. xo Deborah
