Remember I said in my last post that
THE TIMES THEY ARE A'CHANGIN'?
Well, they are!
Bear with me as I sort through
WHAT TO DO.
I don't want to keep you all guessing
and wondering what is going on with
Nana Diana
First off-
NO! The house DID NOT SELL YET!
SO-What is the news then?
I am going back to work.
After 5 years of retirement-
almost to the day-
I headed back to the work force this week.
(more about that in a later post)
This opportunity came up out of the blue
at the end of last week-
right after I had announced that
I was going to
OPEN MY ETSY STORE.
That puts me in
A QUANDARY!
WHAT DO I DO?
What do I do about
ANNA IRELAND VINTAGE?
I started listing stuff
these last few days.
I am guessing I have
about 400-500 items to list.
So far, I have about 45 listed-
This is stuff that is just sitting out and
never got packed away as I was
purging and packing.
I am honestly asking myself
HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE
to take care of an
ETSY SHOP
if I am working for someone else?
The learning curve where I am going
will be a long one, I am afraid.
After I am trained I can pretty much
set my own hours...
BUT
I can't do that yet.
At this point,
I think that I will
have to wait until after the first of the year
to open the Etsy shop.
IF the learning curve is not as steep
as I think,
then I will open it and just sell the stuff
I have already listed
and not list anymore until the
first of the year.
I am one of those people that when I say
I AM GOING TO DO SOMETHING
I carry through and do it----
partially because
I hate disappointing people!
That being said,
I know I can only spread myself so thin.
I am starting a new job,
I am hosting a big crew for
Thanksgiving,
I am keeping the house ready for showings,
AND
I want to keep blogging....
To say nothing of keeping tabs on MyHero...
and that in itself is a full time job.
I thought you learned your lesson after
this fiasco....
SO--
SOMETHING HAS TO GO
or at the very least
get put on hold.
So, bear with me, will you,
as these next couple of weeks
play out.......
Thanks-I am hoping you all
will understand
MY QUANDARY!
Now-
Would you like your smile for the day?
This little boy, CJK, likes to EAT!
He ESPECIALLY likes TREATS!
This was after a little
get-together at his school.
AND
They got to pick a favorite animal at school
to color in, to name,
and then they wanted to know
ONE FACT
about the animal.
As you can see....
the kid is already crazy warped hysterical
giving his teachers a run for their money.
Yep!
That's My BOY-O
(one more reason to not be stressed out all the time-
I want to enjoy these little kids
while I can-and while they still want
to hang around with Nana-
Age 10 seems to be about the cut-off date for that!)
Hello Dear, Put the Etsy shop on hold and just sell the stuff at a garage sale or consignment shop! Really enjoy this new change and just keep blogging as it is fun and keeps you connected to so many ladies that love you!
ReplyDeleteThe days are just flying by so enjoy your family and do what needs to be done, I have heard that having to mail all the stuff is very stressful... Just saying
xo Roxy
Hi Diana, Wishing you much success in your new job! Please don't worry about the etsy shop. We all understand. Just enjoy your precious family and these upcoming holidays and all the best to you at work. Please post when you can and know that you have a whole lotta friends praying for you. Love and hugs!
ReplyDeleteGood for you, but you must not spread yourself to thin I do agree with this, enjoy your new life.
ReplyDeleteMerle............
Things change. Life happens. Good luck with the job and I wouldn't worry about the Etsy shop for now.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Ten?! *thud* I'm going to take a nap. I just hope that I am not napping all week.
ReplyDeleteWow! I think it is very interesting that you are heading back into the workforce. I am glad
to know that once you get it mastered (whatever it is) that you'll be able to set your
own hours. They better be paying you really well or else why give up your playtime?
I sometimes wonder if I will return to work someday and I really hope that it isn't necessary.
Perhaps a part-time job in a tea shop serving tea and crumpets would be kinda fun.
I actually used to do that a thousand years ago so I know that that bit about fun is true.
Course, it does not pay well.
All the best, Diana. I know that you'll figure it out, but do not wear yourself out!
Congrats on the new job. You will do great and they will be saying how did we run this place before you got here?!!! I think doing the Etsy after the holidays is a great idea. There is so much going on this time a year and with starting this new job I think this is so wise.
ReplyDelete😘Kris
You are just full of surprises. Whatever you do, you will do well. Just do not neglect to find time for yourself.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your new job. A new adventure in your life.
ReplyDeleteIf you would like a word of advice. I would skip the Etsy shop. Like the other reader said - consign or give it away. I work full time and have a vintage Etsy shop. It is way too little money for the amount of time spent listing, photographing, packaging and sending. After postage and Etsy fees, it can be a small amount.
You have a lot going on, Diana. You know what's best for you I'm sure. Follow your heart. I hope your new job is rewarding and fills you with joy. xo ♥
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what you are saying exactly - less blogging - less Etsy - less ??? You do what you have to do. God first - then the family - then us. So you didn't say what kind of job? I hope it will be fun. Is it full time? You started today? I would never have guessed a job - but GOOD luck. Love, sandie
ReplyDeleteDo what your heart tells you to do! ?Cute? seahorse story! LOL!!
ReplyDeletewarmly,
deb
Diana I've been meaning to get over here and thank you for your nice comment and 'follow' recently. I got sidetracked with a trip out of town but I'm so glad I had a chance to read this post and find out about the exciting changes in your life. congrats on your new job, it sounds like you've got your priorities in order and I look forward to hearing how your new schedule goes. Good luck, Diana, and I'm sure happy we met each other over at Ron's comment section. I'm your newest follower.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the new job! You'll get to the Etsy shop eventually. Don't sweat it! Make sure you take care of yourself!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are enthusiastic about this new job. Go for it, put the Etsy stuff on hold (it will still be there when you have more time for it). You have a lot on your plate. Treat yourself well. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteOh, and I was meaning to add, I did not know that seahorses ate other seahorses. You learn something new every day.
DeleteEnjoy your new job. Don't fret the small stuff. You can open Etsy once you get your bearings.
ReplyDeleteThey are right, packaging is a pain sometimes, it isn't as if you can drop in in an envelope and mail it, usually. That is one of the reasons that I gave up selling soap on the internet.
ReplyDeleteDiana, I wish you the very best...My heart is with you. Please take care of yourself too. You are right, the children are growing up so quickly...so enjoy them when and all you can. I feel kind of sad without my children and grand kids around. Ted and I love each other and have great times together...but it's family and little ones who bring us the greatest joy. You and yours will be in my thoughts and prayers. xoxo, love, Susie
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should suspend those 45 items and put on tractor up for sale!
ReplyDeleteDiana, I know you will catch on to your job quickly! It is scary after being away for so long but I have every confidence you will do great. It's wonderful that you will be able to pick your own hours. As you said you've got to keep time for your sweet grands. It sounds like your plate is going to be too full to mess with Etsy right now. It will be there when the time is right.
ReplyDeleteA big congrats and hugs to you Diana!
Congrats on the new job! Ah, well, if the Etsy shop has to wait a bit, so be it. Best not to stress yourself out with too many new endeavors at once. CJK couldn't be any cuter!
ReplyDeleteWell, congrats on the new job...you are a bundle of energy. I am tired just reading about all the things you accomplish on a daily basis! I wish you the best of luck. And comments like your grandson's make me miss teaching the little guys. The stuff they come with is priceless and could keep me laughing for days!! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh wow Diana...things are changing! Congrats on the job! Put the Etsy on hold for now. Take care of what you need to do. Jobs, family, blogging, life...do what makes you happy! And hang on tight... Time sure is flying!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your days...
Hugs to you my friend!
Amy
Congrats on the new job!! I would put ETSY on hold until the first of the year myself....
ReplyDeletexo
Enjoy life, whatever that looks like for YOU!
ReplyDeleteCarla in Kansas
Yes indeed..things change but when is enough , enough already..New job and moving?? Strange combination..The Etsy shop would be fun but there's always the yard sale option..Congratulations on your job..DO what makes you happy but don't overdo..Your family seems to keep you on overload..even though it's a fun overload..Always wishing you the best you know!!!
ReplyDeleteI am working after retirement, too, but I never stopped working, so it just feels like I changed jobs! The Etsy store can wait, but I cannot wait until you open it! I cannot wait to hear what you will be doing. It's the ones that fall into our laps that turn out to be the most fun!
ReplyDeleteWe will wait for your shop- you get settled at that new job. You are going to be one busy, busy lady and I swear that you have the energy of 5 women! Just take it all easy and remember to breathe, young lady.
ReplyDeleteI am loving CJK's artwork. He's my kind of kid. <3
xoxo, T.
good luck with the job and etsy!
ReplyDeleteWell, well, aren't we full of surprises? :-) We will wait for your shop - you go learn your job! Congrats on it and best wishes!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Cecilia
Good luck with your new job! I bet I know what it is...you have been chosen for a new movie...a remake of WONDER WOMAN! Well, if that isn't it, it should be. xx
ReplyDeleteDo whatever you need to do to make things work for you. I wouldn't worry about the etsy shop - you may find a good cause to donate too instead - that's life full of surprises....Good for you on getting the job!
ReplyDeleteFear the seahorse
ReplyDeleteDiana, going back to work? I wish you well, my dear friend. And please keep blogging, as I will miss you. Love little CJK's drawing. It's colorful, and that's a sure sign of happy. I can't believe you have 4-500 items for your etsy shop, wow! I wanted to see some of them, but I do understand if you would prefer to wait until things settle down for you.
ReplyDeleteTake care, and here's to your new adventure!
love, ~Sheri
Sounds like you will have lots on your plate. Are you still going to volunteer at the VA too? Goodness, you have 45 things listed on Etsy already? That is a good start, just listing 1 item a week would not be bad. For myself, after being on Etsy for 8 years, things don't get that busy. You would have time for Etsy in the evenings. But that is me, Etsy doesn't take that much time. There are times I don't list anything for a couple of months AND I have no sales either. The more you list, maybe the more you might sell. But then people are not that much into cards. Maybe the things you would be selling might keep you busy.
ReplyDeleteMaybe just ask God for wisdom and what to do and he will guide and direct your paths. But gosh, don't wear yourself out trying to keep that plate full....leave a little space for dessert and fun.
I'm happy for all these wonderful opportunities that are coming your way.
ReplyDeletePace yourself, and do what makes you most happy.
Hope John is continuing to do well. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Oh, that is an upside down mess! Of course you have to do the job and not worry about spreading yourself too thin. I think it is worth it to open your Etsy shop with the 45 items for now....it is the busiest shopping season after all. Just open it and don't worry about it....maybe you'll sell out!
ReplyDeleteCJK is an adorable young boy and I love his personality!! At least he'll keep you all on your toes. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, you have a LOT on your plate my friend and I know you keep your word but..."life" happens and sometimes
we must take a detour. It's ok if you don't open your Etsy shop right now! I don't think the Etsy police will come
knocking at your door. Lol! Seriously, be with the little ones (and older ones too) whenever you have a chance. They are much more important and you're right...too soon they lose interest in what their parents/grandparents are doing and their friends are their major interests.
Have a great holiday season and, when the time is right, go back to your Etsy plan! Perhaps that's a 2017 goal and not for the time being. IMHO, besides all the listing, photos, inventory, etc., there's the mailing/shipping. Ain't nobody got time for that! :)
Love you ~
Pat
All I can offer is my prayers for strength, wisdom, and recess!! Enjoy those littles every chance you get and that includes the little HERO! You are loved and prayed for dear Diana! Cindy xo
ReplyDeleteBless you, sweet Diana! I'd say hold off on the Etsy shop unless you're just really wanting to do it. Good luck with the job--your employer is lucky to get you! And by all means, take good care of yourself so that you can enjoy yourself and your precious family. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you are very smart, Diana. Only you know how tight your schedule is and where you need to focus your attention. And the new job---fantastic. Looking forward to hearing more about it in the future. Best Wishes!
ReplyDeleteJane
You have a lot on your plate right now, but I am confident that you will get your ducks all in a row and in the right order! (Did I use enough metaphors?! - wish I had a little pic of ducks in a row😜). Enjoy your family, take care of yourself, and good luck with your new job. (And I think you are right about age 10 - they get so darn busy☹️)
ReplyDeleteI give you a lot of credit, Diana. I've been retired for 10 months and I don't want to go back to work. But we all do what we must, don't we? I would hold off on the Etsy shop until you learn your new job. It will still be there when you are ready for it. Enjoy your Thanksgiving! It's coming up so fast. And don't worry about the showings. I'm sure your house will be fine as it is.
ReplyDeleteYikes! What kind of job? Praying for you, good Diana!
ReplyDeleteI agree with others, put your Etsy shop on hold and enjoy learning your new job and getting back into the workplace.
ReplyDeleteHave fun getting ready for Thanksgiving and being with family and friends.
Love & hugs ~ FlowerLady
Wow! Talk about a full plate...and I don't mean at Thanksgiving! I am still working and, while I don't love it, I do think it keeps my mind sharper (than it would be if I were not working). I hope you enjoy your new Job!!! Sometimes serendipity can be God's way of leading us down the path He wants us to take. Love you!
ReplyDeleteYou do have the proverbial full plate! I have faith in your good sense...prioritize and whatever is left over, well, it's just left on the plate... Good luck on the new job...hugs...xoxo
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the job! How exciting! (That will be me one of these years...) I can not imagine your life with the job and keeping the house "Sell ready." And Thanksgiving, to boot! I know you'll do it all with grace and humor, as always! Good luck on the shop. Etsy is pretty easy, so I'm sure once you're ready it won't be a problem for you. xoKathleen Charm Bracelet Diva {At Home}
ReplyDeleteWOW, you sure have a lot on your plate. I am happy that you got a terrific job and knowing you, you will do a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling much better now and taking care of yourself.
Have a wonderful week and congratulations on your new job.
Hugs,
Mary
Yes you do have a lot on your plate like Mary said! LOL. It all sounds great and I wish you luck with your new job! Everything will fall into place and I know you will be happy. All the best.
ReplyDeleteJulie
Congratulations on your new job, Diana.
ReplyDeleteYou're right enjoy those little ones as long as you can. They grow up so fast. I don't see mine as often anymore. When they get close to the teenage years they have a life of their own and don't come around as ofter as I would like.
You are always full of surprises. We do what we GET to do. Congratulations on your new opportunity. Can't wait to hear more about it. We don't see our grandkids as often as the past either. It makes me sad, but it seems everything is in a state of transition these days.
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, You've got so much to deal with, and your vintage items will only grow more vintagey as time goes on, so don't stress yourself with the Etsy shop. Love the header; it's really cute. I hope your new job is pleasant.

ReplyDeleteOh my. Congratulations on the new job. I wouldn't worry about the Etsy Shop. We will be here when you are ready. The tractor is the water is just too funny. Best photo of the day goes to you, Diana.
ReplyDeleteWow, I totally missed this post. Back to work? Congrats on the new job, and I am so sorry but I laughed out loud at the tractor in the water...both of them...because for many summers in a row my dh would get his tractor stuck in a spring down in the bottoms and I always wondered did he just think that just one time he could drive through it and not get stuck?!!! LOL Oh my. I'm hosting a big crew in for Thanksgiving dinner also- two thumbs up- we can do it!!
ReplyDeleteHi Friend,
ReplyDeleteGreat news about your job. You make things special with the love you share. I know this :-)) so I know you will be a light at your new job.
I would not worry about the Etsy shop. Besides that helps me save up more $ to spend. LOL
Have a good week!
Carla
Congrats on the new job! I think you're one smart cookie to take things one step at a time and not spread yourself too thin. With two major holidays on the horizon, it would be hard to fit in the Etsy shop too. Good luck with everything and I love the drawing!!! Lol!
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness. Your plate is getting very full, isn't it? Good luck with the new job. Any employer is lucky to have you on their team. You'll figure how and what to juggle. Take your time. We'll be here whenever you want to update us.
ReplyDeleteDiana, I know that you are indeed Wonder Woman with super human strengths but please, please listen to your head as well as your heart and take care of yourself. Learn to say no when you can. I completely agree with Grammy Goodwill above--an employer will be so lucky to have you!
ReplyDeleteMy Goodness! You definitely have many hats to wear. Best wishes on your new job Diana...Take Care :)
ReplyDeleteWhat's the saying, Diana, "You can have it all, just not all at once." Sounds like you've got your hands full! Congratulations on the new job and the on-hold Etsy store!
ReplyDeleteYou will be in my prayers. I am happy for you that you were able to get back into the work force. A grand blessing. I wish I could have found something when I was let go from my job two years ago. It has been a rough road but I am doing a few jewelry shows and hoping it will work out for me. Too many hipsters to compete with here. Too many transplants for their marijuana and the job market stinks and the housing market is out of control. When it all comes crashing down it will be like the 1980's = big oil bust!
ReplyDeleteJust catching up on blog reading. Congrats on new job! I think you could still sell on Etsy with a full time job. Stuff doesn't sell that quickly there. You'd just have to box and ship when something sells
ReplyDeleteI'm playing catch up on blog reading. I'm so happy for you, but oh my are you busy! It's a constant juggling act at my house working full time and managing family, but just remember take care of yourself. You are constantly taking good care of everyone else!!
ReplyDelete
