Finish It Up Friday- Five For Friday!

Thanks for your patience yesterday-
Although a couple of you did
SCOLD ME
for my absence---
and you know who you are.

I got a lot done and had about
30 people here for a meeting last night.

So, today, to pay you all back-
for giving me so much grief-
I am going to bore you with some
pictures that you can look at-
-or choose not to look at-
It's up to you.

Ha- Reeled you right in with that picture,
didn't I?

Now that I have your attention-
I am gonna make you look at some of
MY OWN PICTURES!

This is taken from my kitchen window.
It is one of the last ships that will
come into the port of
Green Bay, WI this year.
Soon, the bay will be frozen solid.
Unbelievably, our grass is still green.
Here is our little Bright Eyes....
Isn't she cute?
Just think-
Someday she will be all grown up and
wearing makeup.
NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT!
Let's start with Mom's eyebrow pencil
and see where it goes from there.
Looks like it might TASTE good, too!
And here is your
LAUGH FOR THE DAY!

I kept CJK overnight on Tuesday because
Mom and Dad had to be out of town
early Wednesday morning.

I made him a
BIG BUBBLE BATH.
When he first looked at it-
the bubbles were about 8 inches deep
and he did not want to get in.
After he got in he did not want to get out.
He said:
It's like WHIPPED CREAM, Nana
I said- Yes- It is!
I dropped him off at his pre-school
the next morning.
It is a small lock-down school.
When you leave the door closes behind you
and you can't get back in.
AS THE DOOR WAS CLOSING BEHIND ME
he says:
My Nana covered me with
WHIPPED CREAM LAST NIGHT!

I can only IMAGINE what the teacher thought.

As for me?
I hurried home,
pulled all the drapes,
and waited for
CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES
to knock on my door.

If I disappear you will know that
I have entered the
Witness Protection Program
to avoid being prosecuted for
child abuse--
OR
 I will be blogging as
Nana Diana Takes A PRISON Break...

  2. Oh Diana... You'd probably find a way to decorate your cell and make friends with the others in your cell block. As I was looking at your picture of the bay, I got thinking that I should look you up on a map to find out specifically where you live. I then realized that you are probably a very similar latitude as me. The only difference is you are west of a big body of water and I am east. So we can both whine about winter when it finally arrives. -Jenn

  10. Ha! Those grandkids know just the thing to say, don't they! LOL Don't worry, they might let you blog in prison. Who knows. Your photo from the window is just beautiful, and I hate to think of it soon frozen and covered with snow. I bet your daughter goes through makeup pretty quick with that little one around. :-)) Have a great weekend, Diana xo

  11. Diana, Diana, Diana....how you make me laugh :) Kids always amaze me with what they say - they are just too precious, aren't they!

I am so glad you got lots done yesterday. But now I hope you're able to kick up your feet and relax! Enjoy your weekend. Love and hugs!

  12. When you wrote that he said it looked like whipped cream, I imagined what he would say at "show and tell." What happens at home does not stay at home! First freeze way down here tonight, but never a frozen pond or lake! Keep warm! Linda@Wetcreek Blog

  13. I can only imagine what his teacher thought about the whip cream. I swear bright eyes is one of the cutest little ones I've seen, and again your lucky you live far away. Kids say the cutest things!

  14. SO stinking cute!!! I used to teach preschool, kindergarten and first grade. I have heard it all....enough to write a book and keep me laughing for a really long time. Kids share everything. Of course, I wasn't able to look some of the parents square in the eye without blushing after circle sharing time...but that's another story! ;)

  15. Ha, I would love a bath like that too. ;-))
Bright eyes is a beauty! Daddy and Grandpa are going to be busy in a few years. ;-)
    Have a blessed weekend,

  16. Oh my gosh what a wonderful view from your kitchen window. And sweet cheeks covered her cheeks in eyebrow pencil. And CJK - what an endearing child - hope he explained it! What a lovely family...........

  17. OH-that-kid!!!!!!!! "Covered me in whipped cream." he does know how to........ sound politically incorrect, doesn't he???

But cheers for that!! Cheers for anyone, who is brave enough to be politically incorrect, in this day and age!!!!!!

  18. Ha! They're both cuties! Your kids are SO lucky to have you around to help watch their kiddos. My kids never had a grandmother around (mine had already died and my husband's mom lives on the East coast)....really sounds like you have a ball with them! Have a great weekend. xoKathleen PS your pics make me pine for Lake Michigan.

  22. Ha ha! Love the comment about the whipped cream!!! I can't believe your grass is still green! We're still mowing ours around here, but not for too much longer. It'll go dormant soon. I don't know why, but I always find it so funny when kids get into the makeup! It sure makes for some funny photos!

  23. Diana, you are so lucky to have the grands come to your home so often. They are just beautiful. Children say the most amazing things. I'll visit you in the big house when they come to get you. Oh and your view of the bay is just beautiful! xo ♥

  24. Oh Lord! That is so funny! I bet you turned red when he said that. I've had something similar done to me before where my child repeated something in front of others that embarrased me. I wanted to just stick my head in the sand. Makes you think twice about anything that is said around them.

  25. You are too funny. I'm sure the teacher figured it out. I think she's heard many things during her career.

  26. Bahahahaha! Kids can embarrass the life out of you. If you have to go to prison, I think you should request the one Martha was at. They like to cook and do crafts over there. By the way, I know I've told you before, but little Miss Bright Eyes looks so much like you. She is precious and looks like such a happy baby. Hope you have a good weekend.....I think it might be okay to open your drapes tomorrow. If they haven't come for you yet, they probably won't. Ha!

  27. Hi! Your grandchildren are so cute! I imagine the teachers get all kinds of comments like that from the kids. Hopefully they haven't come for you yet! LOL Nancy

  28. I've got tears falling out of my eyes! Reminds me of my kids when they were little. Never know what they will say and how bad it will make you look. The elementary school had an outbreak of lice when the oldest was in first grade. As a precaution, the school recommended everyone shampooing with that special stuff. The next week, we had my husband's class over for a pre-Christmas get together. Middle daughter (a 4 year old of few words) choose a lull in the conversation to announce to everyone "I don' have lice." Someone said "ahhh, that's nice." To which Middle daughter responded by pointing at her older sister and saying "She does!"

  29. Oh gosh, you and your family get into the most hilarious situation! Thanks for the smile (actually a belly laugh)! Have a great weekend - are you bracing for snow? The amount keeps getting upped for us - 5 to 7 inches overnight, maybe more, thanks to Lake Michigan. Tis the season I guess!! Jane

  30. Oh MY... Really very FUNNY. Oh that poor teacher and child...
Yes, very soon that lake will be all ice through and through!
That eye brow pencil is a bit to dark for the little bug LOL

  31. Good grief! And you wonder why we give you the devil when you don't do a post. That was laugh out loud funny. Sometimes you're my only laugh of the day. Beautiful view of the bay. Hard to believe that it freezes over.Brrr I hope that eyebrow pencil didn't get on the wall. Have a good night.

  32. I can't imagine it being so cold the bay freezes. We're lucky if we get snow for a day. Little miss bright eyes is adorable and your naughty boy is too funny. I bet the teacher got a good laugh out of that comment. :-) Hope you have a great weekend.

  33. Oh, too funny! Kids do and say the silliest things, don't they? Sweet Baby Bright Eyes just doesn't realize how expensive those darn pencils are! You have an amazing view - I can't imagine it all frozen over. Hopefully you all will get a break this year after your horrible winter last year. I'm taking a blog break, so want to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving! xo Karen

  34. Hahaha! Your kids say the darndest things. It's just so hard for me to believe that lake could freeze.

    Are those cruise ships?

Little Bright Eyes and CJK are darling.

  35. Such cuties! :) If I were you, I think I might take a trip right now and maybe CPS will have forgotten about the whipped cream when you return. :) Kids do say the darndest things don't they? You know, my son was the one that got into the make-up...lipstick, mascara, all of it! He poured an entire bottle of my expensive perfume on the sofa cushions ~ talk about airing out the house! Not sure why but he had this thing about pouring...his milk and anything liquid he could get his hands on. Wish we'd had cell phones or digital cameras back then!

  42. HaHa....I'm laughing so hard. BTW years ago we went to a conference at Green Lake WI. Is that near Green Bay?

    ReplyDelete
  43. HA- you got my attention Seeing bright eyes with make up on her face reminded me of getting caught playing with some rouge when I was a kid- what a mess! The bubble bath reminded me of when we had first put in our whirlpool tub and I added some bubble bath- oh boy big mistake- it grew and grew and grew! We all laughed so much. I'm just imaginging what they thought when CJK informed him of your covering him in whippped cream- too funny. Have a great weekend!

  44. I have already shared your whipped cream story because it is just too funny! You just are always in the right place and the right time, with a camera, to get all this good stuff to share!
