Well, you all KNOW how much
FUN I make of WALMART.
Let me bow my head in shame.
Shame, Shame,Shame.
Do you know they have launched a program
for Veterans?
It's called the
GREEN LIGHT FOR VETS
I know I am a little late getting this on my blog
because
TOMORROW is VETERAN'S DAY!
Here is what Walmart is doing!
At its core, the project is calling on Americans from coast to coast to display green lights at their homes and workplaces on Nov. 11, a symbolic show of gratitude for the service and sacrifices made by more than 2.5 million military families since the nation went to war in 2001. More broadly, it's calling attention to several veterans advocacy groups, including the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University, Team Rubicon and Blue Star Families.
“A veteran can sit for an average of twenty-two weeks in unemployment between their last military paycheck and a new job ... and they just need to know there is a support network out there for them."
Walmart, under its “Welcome Home Commitment” program, has pledged to hire 250,000 veterans by 2020. The company recently hired its 100,000th vet, and has promoted 9,000 since 2013, according to its website. Since 2011, the company's foundation has pledged more than $40 million to veterans groups that provide job training, transition help and education
So-If you want to put a smile
on a VET'S FACE tomorrow
POP OUT AND
BUY ONE OF THESE TODAY
and turn that baby on
for the whole day and night tomorrow.
l'll be getting mine as soon as I am
done pushing the old boys around at the
VA TODAY!
Oh- Wait---
Apparently SOMEONE got
the wrong message...
They thought they
were supposed to dress up
LIKE A LIGHT BULB
No! That is NOT me-
thanks for asking!
UMMM---those shoes are a
NO with outfit....just sayin'......
I hope none of YOU make
that same fashion mistake!
Now-hurry- RUN to WALMART
and buy a green light bulb.
You'll be glad you did!
Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWell I didn't know this about Walmart so thanks for the share !:)
ReplyDeleteWell I didn't know this about Walmart so thanks for the share !:)
ReplyDeleteWonderful post, Diana! it is a great thing what Walmart is doing. xxx Maria
ReplyDeleteIn spite of the first few lines of this post, I knew you would not fail us by forgetting to show another lovely outfit from Walmart!! Some liberals call out the Waltons for having so much wealth, but it's good to see how they're using their wealth to employ veterans.
ReplyDeleteThank, Diana....I love this
ReplyDeleteOur neighbor put green lights on their porch right after halloween. I told David that they were getting the head start on christmas. He asked them why they put up only green lights. They told him it was for the veterans. My Husband is a Veteran and he never heard of this, than we saw the commercial from Walmart. Nice thing to do, but they could let Veterans have the green lights for free. I try to look at the good side, but they are making money selling the green lights. I still think it is a good idea and that they are going to hire more Veterans.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I thought I looked good in my green catsuit.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very cool thing, ND!
ReplyDeleteYes, have seen that add on tv. :-)
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen the ad but your post caught my attention and made me laugh. goodness, what was that person in green thinking when she put on those shoes ?!?
ReplyDeleteHave veterans in our family who could use a break... so appreciate this post even more.
I saw a big display of green bulbs at Walmart the other day and thought they were Christmas porch lights...lol! Thanks for letting us know....hugs...
ReplyDeleteThe green suit got popular because of It's always sunny in Philadelphia

ReplyDeleteYou are so funny.
ReplyDeleteGlad they are going to help vets tho.
My hubs is a Viet Nam vet himself.
Have a good one.
Are you sure that wasn't you?
I had heard about the green light emphasis! Not a Walmart shopper here, but that is a fantastic thing they are doing for veterans! Will look for that green light! xo Nellie
ReplyDeleteI see right now, I am going to have to go to Walmart more often. I think the people in your area are more nuts than in Texas.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful and delightful post! Did not know this, so thank you for enlightening us! ( no pun intended!)

Go Walmart!! I know what a red light means but didn't know what the green light signified.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the info. I was just in the light bulb section of Wal*Mart and missed it.
ReplyDeleteI've seen their promotional spots on television and thought it was such a great idea. I bet this will catch on and it will grow year by year.
ReplyDeleteWell done Walmart AND Diana!
Thanks for sharing this idea! I hope you have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteOkay, Sweet Pea, I'm off to purchase a green bulb.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

ReplyDeleteWill definitely have my green light...many vets in my family.
ReplyDeleteOh darn! I was just at Wally World today and I forgot about the green light....I had seen it earlier in an ad. I am so sorry vets but I will be thinking of you all!
ReplyDeleteI heard about this..My light is never on..It would probably bother my neighbors...NOT going to Walmart!!! We have a lot of street lights around here..Nobody ever has there porch light on :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Diana. It is a very noble cause.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
❤️Ana
It's nice of them to do it, but I still hate them. Awful, aren't I? My son is in the military, so I'll just tell him I love him ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat in the holy... I don't understand the shoppers there at all! LOL
xo,
rue
I don't shop at Wal-Mart. However, this is a very good idea. Wonder if you can find green bulbs from any place, other than Wal-Mart?
ReplyDeleteI have not heard of this. I'm an avid Walmart shopper too. I hope that person wearing green was dressed for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, This is a great thing from Walmart to honor our Vets this way. I knew about this for some time and so glad they are stepping up like this. Thanks for sharing. Have a great night. xo
ReplyDeleteI did hear about this, such a nice tribute. Have a good night.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jill
Greetings Diana, thanks for the update never knew they were doing a tribute for Veteran's Day. Love the idea.
ReplyDeleteHugs diane
Hello,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. Please give a big HUG to each and every one of your boys tomorrow from me.
Carla
I don't have a green light but I am thankful for everyone that has protected my country for me! We have a son in the navy. Nancy
ReplyDeleteI heard them talking about this on the radio the other day. We have l.e.d. lights on the outside of our home that the bulbs cannot be changed in, darn...I think this is a great idea though.
ReplyDelete22 weeks in unemployment, that is just not right! There is no greater sacrifice then what these men and women do, they deserve so much more then they get when they get out!
I don't know what it is with the Wal-Mart outfits - but I sure hope that green super hero was dressed for Halloween! ;)
Have a wonderful Wednesday friend!
Kimberley
I'm so ashamed that I didn't know about the green bulb! Thank you for telling me. You're a jewel and I know you are a blessings to others.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Bless you for volunteering each week at the VA, Diana! I know you must make so many people's day there. I didn't know about the green light thing either. Better green that red, right?!:)
ReplyDeleteThat's really cool. Thanks for sharing. Now, you either have the strangest Walmart around or just live in a place with lots of goofy people. That outfit takes the cake. Omg, too funny.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that. xoxo Su
