I did it!
I actually got down to the basement yesterday
and dragged my FALL BINS upstairs.
I won't tell you how many I have because
it is almost disgusting.
The amount of Fall stuff I have
is only outdone
is only outdone
by my Christmas bins!
BEFORE I hauled it all upstairs
MyHero and I went for a little drive.
I went to MY SECRET SPOT for
BITTERSWEET!
Guess what?
It might not be so secret because there
was none to be found.
I coulda kicked something---
except I was driving.
I am the only person I know that had
a personal painting made just for me
(as a birthday gift) of
BITTERSWEET!
There is really no BLUE
on a BITTERSWEET plant.
My artist friend, Lolo, took a little
artistic license with that one,
Lord rest her soul.
This actually hangs in my lower hall all year long.
My favorite chalkboard sign...
by M @ OC Cottage.
She doesn't post much anymore
but I sure love her blog!
I saw this in a magazine a long time ago.
Inside looking out...
They are cut out of tissue paper (wrapping type)
and are lightweight enough that any movement
makes them stir.
The girls cut out the eyes and mouth.
Kinda spooky at night...
Outside looking in...
Well, this is short and sweet because
everything is only HALF-DONE.
I will be back in a day to show
you what it really looks like around here.
Meantime,
make sure you sign up for my giveaway.HERE
It is open until Tuesday because that is
the soonest SweetCheeks can get here to

See you in the morning!
I think it's a bad year for bittersweet! I have a little spot where I collect/trespass/steal and it looks bad this year! What are we supposed to do?! Pay for it?! Love your painting as I looooove blue mixed with fall colors, especially orange.
ReplyDeleteKeep on being bad, girl, I love it! Your little painting is so sweet and how nice of her to poke in some blue for you! Can't wait to see you Falling around your home! Have fun.
ReplyDeletebe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Other than my gardens, I do not decorate for fall. Good for you for celebrating life and the seasons they bring.
ReplyDeleteI have to tell you I do not know what bittersweet is except in chocolate. What is it? Loved the way the coasts looked in the dark! It was scary.
ReplyDeleteDiana, I like the wispy ghosts you have. That painting is a wonderful piece. I love that you keep it out all the time. I did not see any bittersweet at Horton's this year. They had sweet Annie...mmm, I love that smell. I know you know Linda of Linda's Life Journal....now there's the tote queen.LOL...I have a few in the basement, the clear ones so I can see what's in them...oh I was dreaming..who ever looks. I still have totes of stuff I'll never use ...why?? One day I may panic and clear all this stuff out. LOL. Blessings for a fun weekend...when you said you wanted to kick something, I thought , "look out Hero " xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteYour picture of the bittersweet is so pretty! I also really like the cute little ghost looking through the sidelight. That's such a cute and inexpensive way to decorate for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteI bet I can complete with your fall bins with all our halloween madness. I love the tissue ghosts idea. Josie would love to create some of those. Sorry about the missing bitter sweet. It's so hard to find in the wild. Have a fabulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou can always count on the weirdos at wally world
ReplyDeleteI love your fall bittersweet painting , Diana. The ghost with the tissue paper is clever and quite spooky! I can always count on a laugh or two at your place. Thank goodness for laughter! Enjoy you weekend. ♥
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I love all the decorating ideas. Love your painting.
ReplyDeleteBummer about the bittersweet shortage! I just love it. I think I will give your tissue ghosts a try - how fun! Have a wonderful weekend my dear, the weather forecast is absolutely beautiful! Jane
ReplyDeleteThat ghost picture is cool, Diana, very clever. I bet the kids love to look at it at grandma's house at night time. Can't wait to see all your Fall goodies around your house. I always get ideas from you hehehe. Oh, and that Autumn chalkboard sign from your blog friend.......love that.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
If that lady in the orange had been sitting in a wheelchair, that could have been me! What do you expect? I am married to a Dutch man! Oranje Boven!!! Linda@Wetcreek Blog
ReplyDeleteHooray for dragging out the Autumn deco! :-)
ReplyDeleteAlthough I haven't done much here. Just the mantle. And the front door.
Should be getting out the wee bit of Samhain deco. The cute little witches and a kitty on a pumpkin, etc. Oh that the old light up ghost house. All my stuff is old and well loved. Which also means, a bit 'wonky' around the edges, for some of it. Like me!!!!!!!
Tessa
Have a wonderful weekend!

I really love that pretty bittersweet print, and I like the blue on it....I'm all about taking artistic license! You know what....I just can't shop at Walmart anymore....I swear I am a freak magnet! The transvestites almost always ask me to be their life coach, and I can't focus on what I'm supposed to be buying. I don't have time for that!
ReplyDeleteSo I shop at Target and no one asks me to be their life coaches there!
I can always use a good laugh...thanks, Diana! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the bittersweet painting and all your decorations. As a preschool and elementary special ed teacher, I once had a great collection of fall themed shirts, but I believe those ladies have me beat!! Enjoy your weekend!

ReplyDeleteYou are a firecracker today! Do you usually find bittersweet this early? It is much too early to be harvested here...another month before it'll be ready in my corner.
ReplyDeleteI love those tissue ghosts, I have to try them! Love the painting too of the bittersweet, I found fake bittersweet years ago at GW and consider myself lucky!
ReplyDeleteLove bittersweet! Sorry you couldn't find any. The painting is beautiful! I really love the Autumn sentiment ~ that's me for sure! I haven't seen the tissue ghosts ~ cute, cute. I like to see fun things that little ones enjoy. They're the best part of Halloween!

My decorating days are over. I do enjoy seeing what others share. You shared some really neat things, I especially like the painting. I will make sure the next time I go to Walmart, I have my camera.
ReplyDeleteLove your bittersweet painting! She had to add blue to match the matt....or did she put a blue matt on to match the painting?! :-) It is lovely either way. Oh, I love that chalkboard sign! Is it yours or just a picture of it? The ghosts are cute but a little creepy and your Walmart pictures are a stitch! I don't get to see that stuff too much in person and I am at Walmart at least twice a week!!
ReplyDeleteLove the bitter sweet. I wish I had more room to store things. I have a little bit of fall and a bit of Christmas.. A couple of Easter bunnies and that's it! I didn't move all my stuff here. I pulled out My summer pots today. Just mums and pumpkins and a couple geraniums. Really looking like fall around here. I guess I should take some pictures, maybe tomorrow. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteOk...waiting to see your fall. I know what you mean about bins O'Stuff. ha.
ReplyDeleteSheila
We put up a xmas tree and that's about it, I guess we are a lazy bunch, it great you decorate for the different seasons.
ReplyDeleteMerle...............'
Your painting is a treasure for sure.
ReplyDeleteThose "costumes" are over the top, aren't they? One looks like she needs a shotgun, the other is missing the table. Yeah. I should talk, I go to town in my farm work clothes and track mud and manure all over the stores. I bet people love me...especially when I leave.
ReplyDeleteI accumulated so much fall stuff over the years...this year I sent two bags full home with the DIL/ less is more here and she was over the moon there :)
ReplyDeleteLove that painting!
The changing season from warmer to colder is always hard for me, we have to pull everything out of tight attic spaces. Swapping of cloths and home decor. Dont' have enough close space to have warmer/colder clothes out so we fill bins of stuff and interchange them. I've got our living area almost done in fall, but i always poop out and don't do anything upstairs. Have fun decorating!
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, it is so good to see you back with full spirits. You have been missed. Love the beautiful art work how precious to have a friend make it for you. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs, Jo
ReplyDeleteI won't tell you how many tubs of have, but I did get rid of some of it and also Christmas stuff also. So I am very proud of myself.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you had the weekend to yourselves. Happy decorating.
We are dying here in SO CA. It was 105 yesterday and 103 today. Please dear Lord send us some rain and cool weather.
Have a terrific weekend.
Hugs,
Mary
You are amazing! I think I have said that before! Love all your photos and those Wal-Mart ones were so clever!
ReplyDeleteI have MORE fall than I do Christmas! I am addicted to fall......
Your painting of the bittersweet is beautiful! I can tell it is precious to you!
Happy Saturday!!
i hate to have to say this...
ReplyDeletebut on a blog I follow... i saw some equally horrendous outfits.
and lo and behold...
they were at the chanel show in paris! Horrendous. not those in the show...
the ones the attendees were wearing! but then... maybe it's close to halloween in paris too?
the painting is so touching. and beautiful too.
and i say... bring on the fall mama!!! i mean nana! it's only going to be 90 degrees here tomorrow.
maybe you'll break the heat wave!
XO♥
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI like that ghost idea. Fun!
Have a great weekend.
xx oo
Carla
Sorry you could not find your bittersweet this year. There were a lot of vendors selling it at Nellie's Barn Sale I went to on Friday. Can't wait to see more of your pretty fall decor. Enjoy getting your decor crazy on!!!
ReplyDeleteKris
I'd love to find some bittersweet around here. Alas, I have no idea where I would find it. I adore that chalkboard sign. xo ~ Nancy
ReplyDeleteGlad you are back in Blogland. We've got to hang in there, Friend!
ReplyDeleteDiana it dawned on me reading your post that last year you wrote about bittersweet and searching for it and me also trying to locate some. Still haven't found any - it's become an amazing quest!!! Funny photo in that hot orange outfit.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Vera
I love bittersweet too. it seems that it is actually difficult to come by. there is a place not too awfully far from here that sells it, but it sells out as soon as she gets it in the shop. my girlfriend used to find some growning along the river where she lives and she used to say that she would have to pretty much hang over the side of a drop off to get to it.. but she would do it! lol! love the look of the tissue paper ghost! I think Im going to make a couple.. I have some tissue paper sitting about 5 feet away from me! lol!
ReplyDeletewould love to win your giveaway.. almost bought that magazine recently. but every time I go to buy a magazine these days, I pretty much talk myself out of it because I tell myself I can see anything I want on line and on pinterest! lol! anyways.. glad were both back! have a great day!
and hurry and post decorating pics!
xoxo

Beautiful painting Diana. Love the ghost looking in. Looks like a fun project with the kids. Funny photo too. Have a Blessed Sunday. Hugs, cm
ReplyDeleteThe bittersweet painting is beautiful! Looking forward to seeing what you've been working on. You could put together a book of your amazing Walmart shots! Hilarious!
ReplyDeleteOh, that orange outfit with the green hat and shoes!!! So funny! I love to see bittersweet used in decor. It's so pretty and I love your painting. Fall decorations are so much fun to pull out. So far I haven't gotten out any Halloween stuff, but I know my boys will insist on it soon. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your painting! I would leave it out year round too; it's stunning! The ghosts look like such a fun project; I love the idea that they move too. You do so much for your grandchildren. You have certainly created memories for a lifetime!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any fall stuff out yet because #1 it's so hot still and #2 we are in the process of buying a house and I don't want to put any thing extra out! I am sure your fall stuff will look amazing. I was hoping for bittersweet for my centerpieces but I have no idea if it even grows here. Sorry you couldn't find it at your secret spot :( but at least you have that pretty picture!
ReplyDelete~Trisha
Oooh wow, Mrs. Orange certainly believes in brightening people's days! Love the painting of the bittersweet. I hope you're able to find some somewhere!
