Our sweet little Ria
had the most whispery little voice
when she was small.
It was always fun to listen to that little
voice.
One day we were sitting out back
by the bay
and a plane went overhead.
She looked up and said
Look- I'ts s
SKYSCRATCH!
What?
A SKYSCRATCH!
That airplane up there
scratched the sky.
It's a SKYSCRATCH!
you thought it was a
JET TRAIL or CONTRAIL
caused by hot air
mixed with atmospheric conditions.
YOU were/are WRONG.
All that blue actually has
white scratches on it.
All that blue actually has
white scratches on it.
Your challenge THIS WEEK is to say
SKYSCRATCH
ten times in a row.
It is a REAL tongue twister!
Try it!!! It is harder than you think!
You just tried it, didn't you?
snicker
Try it!!! It is harder than you think!
You just tried it, didn't you?
Have a great day!
Very descriptive word! Much better than contrail.
ReplyDeleteLOL I can see why you told me that I'd love Wednesdays new word day! :)
ReplyDeleteI tried it and spit all over myself.....
ReplyDeleteHee-hee! I did! It ended up sounding like scritch-scratch by the 9th one! I like that word. Skyscratch. Might just start calling them that!
ReplyDeleteDiana, That is so cute. I love the way kids think. They are so precious.Hope you have a great day. xoxox,Susie
ReplyDeleteI did! and it is a tongue twister! She has grown and turned into a tiny, elegant dancer! I will always think of her now when I see the skyscratch!
ReplyDeleteWhat a smart kiddo! I remember when one of my kids called it a contrail for the first time. I had never even heard of the word and I was pretty impressed (not to mention feeling pretty stupid:). And nope, can't say it.

So cute and it does look like the sky has been scratched! Hmmm, noway on 10...three was twist enough! :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
I really like that one! :-))))
ReplyDeleteYes! I tried it. And I succeeded. And - I like that word. How do you submit it to a dictionary? I think those lines behind the planes should be called skyscratches. It sounds about right to me!
ReplyDeleteI have often wondered if those "skyscratches" actually control our weather. You see so many of them, zig zagging across the skies. Oh well, that is just me. I like that word and yesssss I tried saying "skyscratcher" 10+ times. I think by the 10th time I wondered if I even was saying "sky" right...hahahaha!!
ReplyDeleteoops.....forgot to add my anonymous name.

Adorable! It makes sense! XOX P.S. I can't say it 10 times!
ReplyDeleteI like her description best! LOL and yes, I can say it 10 times ;-) Of course, I normally talk a mile a minute (according to my sweet hubby) so it was fairly easy.
ReplyDeleteRia's sweet word of description has just been added to my vocabulary. How sweet!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy day Diana.
xoxo,
Vera
that is the best expanation for jet trails I have ever heard!
ReplyDeleteSmart girl, your Ria!
ReplyDeleteI said it ten times and didn't stumble once..
That is adorable! I love it....and I will never think of contrails the same.....
ReplyDeleteNancy
Love these kid sayings posts.
ReplyDeleteOut of the mouths of babes!
ReplyDeleteDo you remember Art Linkletter's Kids Say the Darndest Things?
I tried it! You know me so well. ;) I only got to number three though...it's a tough one!
ReplyDeleteA little offtopic, but I've met a few people who believe in the conspiracy theory known as chem trails. One guy told me the "elite" are trying to "thin the herds" and they'll be safe because they drink special water and healthy foods.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to make him a tin foil hat.
That actually makes perfect sense. Smart girl!
ReplyDeleteNew word love!!!! So sweet. I tried to say it once and got tongue tied lol! Out of the mouths of Babe's!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day Diana.
Kris
Yes I did try it, and Kevin is now dialing the psych ward. But you tell her that is the Perfect word for that!! :-)
ReplyDeleteTried it. Failed, Lol And they really do look like sky scratches!
ReplyDeleteIt was hard for me to say it once. I love the things kids say!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteI like her word!
deb :)
Now every time I see the vapor trails from the planes I will think of the word "sky scratch"...out of the mouth of babes....Love it!
ReplyDeletehahahaha! Oh the sweet innocence of kids! I tried saying it, but I couldn't make it to 10x!!!
ReplyDeleteI remember my son when little pointed to the sky and said, "Look mommy, you can see the airplanes fart!" I laughed and told him it was a contrail. He looked at me quizzically and said, "Mom, that's a plane so it would be a plane trail."
ReplyDeleteHow darling, kids do say the darnedest things. Have an amazing week. Jo
ReplyDeleteHA - It's 5:45 pm, I'm still sitting in my office at work, NO I didn't try it out loud, although I thought it and I got all mixed up - LOL ! Kids always say the cutest things :) Blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThat is just too cute!!! Skyscratch should make it in Websters!
ReplyDeleteI got to 5 without flubby.
ReplyDeleteYes, I made it to 3! :-) LOL
ReplyDeleteFun word.
Carla
That Ria is such a cutie. I thought it was her smile, but maybe it's the eyes too. All I know is that she has the sweetest look. And what a fun word for today. I can see why she called it a skyscratch hehehe.
ReplyDeletelove, ~Sheri
Adorable as usual - put it in your dictionary you are making.
ReplyDeleteI'll say that if you say - "Molasses on the table" - holding you tongue!
I tried to do the tongue twister and when thighscratch came out, I stopped... heehee! Too funny Diana, I will never look at those chem, ahem... jet trails again without thinking about the sky being scratched, lol... Always enjoy your new word Wednesday :)
ReplyDeleteI never thought about the new word, but it definitely would work. Of course, you never know what kids will say for sure. They are just growing up entirely to fast. We want to keep them little as long as possible. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend shirley
ReplyDeleteThere is laughter in her eye's! What a precious little girl. That's a really cute word Diana - love it.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I think skyscratch sounds better than contrails. Yep, I tried it 10 times and nearly made it, but it finally came out "sky catch". lol!
