New Word Wednesday

Now - before I start this I want you to
remember something-
I do NOT SWEAR on my blog-
I just don't.

I don't like to offend anyone
SO-if you are
EASILY OFFENDED
you might want to move to another blog today.
However,
I think MOST OF YOU will see
the humor in this.

My son was about 3-1/2 and he was standing
outside with the neighbor
(who he called GRUMP-PA for obvious reasons)
when a rescue squad went by.
Apparently, GRUMPpa said-
There goes that damn ambulance.
Here is your
NEW WORD for WEDNESDAY.

DAMBULANCE!
It is composed of TWO WORDS
Damn & Ambulance.
Mama's Boy thought that was the
REAL NAME of this!
He would say...
Look, Mama!
Here comes the DAMBULANCE!

He was a REAL HIT in church school!
It took us TWO YEARS to convince him
that it was JUST an
AMBULANCE!

So--YOU can choose whether (or not)
you would like
to incorporate this
NEW WORD
into your vocabulary this week.

You all have a great day.
I am going out to try and eradicate some
DAMDELIONS!

  1. How amusing for that word to be conjured up by your darling boy.. When mine were little, Rebecca used to called double decker buses, youve guessed it... double becca buses, Dan used to call the grown up underpants.. wonderpants, and Gaby used to say what a froggy day it is today... and Chris used to say delishwas.. but cannot remember what the last one said.... but all of the kids are they are learning language have the most interesting take on words, and such fun to hear and remember them.. I loved the one your son said, will write that down to remember ha ha... its a wet and windy day here, and after all the sunshine last week, the temps have dropped again.. When we have fine weather early in the year, it often happens that we do not get a proper summer time with warmth and sunshine.. I h ope thats not the case this year... Meanwhile I am recovering from Shingles and taking it easy, which is why I am in blogland enjoying delightful posts like your one*** x

  2. This is such a cute story. I don't think I'll be using that word, though. Might not go over well at the Elder's Wives Meeting. Ha, ha! Love your little Wednesday series.

  3. Hilarious! I'm grateful for dambulances, but I must say I don't like the circumstances in which we've had to use them. . . so I like his word! :)

  4. Dambulances, that is just too cute! Kids can say the funniest things, oh my!

  5. If you are the one the ambulance is coming for, then . . . Dambulance is appropriate! Smart kid.

  6. That is funny. My daughter need material for me to make a Halloween costume by noon hour last day.
She was same age your son was . It urned out that shw was saying. Manerial. I need you to get manerial. Instead of material.

So the Lord was on my side. I figured it out half hour before school. . Thank goodness for bed sheets.

I grabbed a bed sheet and scissors a belt. Made her face quickly into some kind of funny facial whatever. . I said now get to school. Was only a couple of minutes the way she ran. Daddy long legs. She was already a champion on races and all events on field day activity in sports. She came home at 4 oclock and said she won second in the costume contest. I said what did you call yourself. The Manerial girl. Ha-ha. Perfect. Funny she still could not say Material even then. Teacher thought it was funny. Got her second price. So laughing at your sons choice of words.

  7. My damdelions are also in full bloom and someone might have to call the dambulance to get me up off the ground after I dig them up.

  10. Obviously, Grumpa never learned the song, 'Oh Be Careful Little Mouth What You Say' in Sunday School! :-)) Your boy was cute even then. :-)

  13. Haha! Little ears pick everything up, don't they? I doubt I'll need to use that word today, but I'll probably think it every time I see an ambulance now! Thanks! lol

  14. I'm smiling, very cute one! Have a wonderful day in your garden getting rid of "Damelions"" Ha Ha I'm going to use that one!

  16. That's ridiculous! When my kids were small there was a show on tv about an underwater community and they had a "clambulance". We still call it that. Silly kids! ;) Have fun in the yard. At least there's no snow!

  17. In Missouri, they actually have a Dam Donut Store, but of course it's not a c*rse word. (When I absolutely must include a c*rse word on my blog, I use asterisks instead the vowels-- even for the word s*x because of p*rn sites. Don't wanna be one...)

Lol: NOT offended! *wink* Our daughter at 3 once combined two pastors' names: Brother Blunt and Brother Bentley. "Look," she said, "there's Brother BUTLEY!"

Have a wonderful Wednesday. I hope you don't see or hear OR NEED an d*mbulance today!

    Hugs,
    Kelley~

  18. When my brother (who is now a preacher) was little, it was the custom to have the preacher over to eat from time to time. When it was my family's turn to host lunch for him, they brought along their little daughter who was my brother and sister's (they are twins) age....the two girls ran outside ahead of my brother who was loaded down with toy trucks and the door slammed in his face. He very calmly turned to around and said "someone come open this damn door"! My Southern mama about died! Another story that comes to mind is when my BFF picked up one of her grandsons at day care one day and riding down the road he shouted out the "F" word....when BFF said "where did you hear that" he said "Bob the Builder"! Now I don't believe Bob the Builder uses the "F" word but that's is story and he's sticking to it!

  19. Diana, I laughed...It's all innocent. So funny, even the Grump pa. My husband and I would laugh at our daughter Karen. When she was around three years of age..she could not do "T" sound very will...but could pronounce her "F"'s very well....so you know what she called the fire trucks. Hint, she started each work with an F. :):) I love Kelley's word too. LOL. When I just need to cuss and you know we all do at times...I just say hossenphefers., Spelling this is iffy. It's what Yosemite Sam calls Bug Bunny.:) You sure gets some walking in on your job. xoxo,Susie

  20. Ha! Thanks for the much needed laugh this morning! I love the things that kids say. Like the time little Emma was trying to write the word fun at a restaurant and keep just repeating the first two letters at top volume over and over while her mortified, hysterically laughing family tried to quiet her. Which of course just made her louder F-U! ;0

  21. ha.. well that was very mild Diana (:)
the funny thing is my little grandson who is 6 now.. has always and still does say
    grandpa..the same way...GRUMP-PA
we always get tickled to hear it..
it sounds like he is saying grandpa is grumpy (:)
    hugs,Patty

  23. Too cute...that wasn't bad at all, you had me worried.

When I was a nanny to a sweet little 4 year old he couldn't say truck, but was enamoured of them...loudly exclaiming "f" instead of truck. And he was loud! Many red faces on my part until he could control his words...lol.

  24. oh no! i LOVE damdelions!!!!
at least he could say his tr's ... my husband when he was two years old squealed with excitement... fire f . . k! fire f . . k!
my inlaws prayed for no fires in public until he reached a more suitable age and ability to pronounce truck.

  25. LOL! I love it. Kids can say the cutest things and truly believe they are real. When Sawyer was younger, he used to say all kinds of crazy things. For instance, he has an uncle named Wade. One day, someone said something about 'my uncle Wade'....Sawyer heard and believed this to be his name.....Mycawave. Ha!

  26. Leave the Damdelions alone, they are food for honey bees until other things start blooming

  28. So funny, Diana! I love how kids hear words! Once we were going through St Louis and my mother said to my children, "Look at the Arch, kids!" My daughter got quiet and then said, "Grandma, what's an archkid?" Gotta love those memories...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Isn't it strange how they can hear a word like that but not something we want them to learn? So funny!

  30. Oh how funny - kids will be kids. Good luck with your weed pulling. I just came in after pulling weeds and putting down a drip mist hose. Going to be 90, so I had to quit or have heat exhaustion. Have to get the house in order for my little 10 year old boy that I watch while his mother teaches school. Have a great day.

  31. haha! We live in the mountains so I rarely hear the dambulance.
I will certainly remember that new word when I see or hear one.
Funny thing is ~ my spell check is telling me NOT to use it. :)

Enjoy picking those lovely yellow flowers that the children love so well.

  36. That's so funny! That reminds me of the time my son was little and we asked him if he wanted to go the movie theater to see a movie. For some reason, he thought we were saying the-ater not theater. So he called it that for a while too.

  37. When I was in kindergarten I got in trouble for saying the word "rock". I guess everyone thought I said the "f" word, everyone sure seemed to know what a cuss word was except me.

    I was a good boy

  38. That's funny! When my daughter was close to 3 yrs. old I reacted to something and used a colorful word whiile we were in the car and it took me a week to get her to stop repeating it!! The dambulance just went by my house btw!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. LOL I bet he was a hit in school. One of my sons could not pronounce Ds.....We lived in the country and during winter time he warned me to be careful so we wouldn't end up in the 'bitch..

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh boy the laugh this one brought! Our son when he was just learning to talk couldn't say the "t" sound, and instead could only say "f"... so truck became.... and I won't say it... but it was not good! I spent a lot of time teaching him how to say truck properly, and oh happy day, when he finally figured out the "t" sound! I am really enjoying your new word Wednesday! :)

Kids are funny. We had a few damdelion fuzzies in the yard the yesterday. The wind came last night and blew them away. Just boring stems sticking up out of the ground now.
