OH BABY! Did YOU Ever Have A Lot Of Opinions On My Survey!

Did someone say
BABY?
I'm sure SOMEONE said
BABY!
~okay-maybe it was me~
Clever, huh?

Is this the cutest BABY ever?
You other grandparents don't have to answer
cuz YOU think YOUR grandbaby
is the cutest one ever.
but you are SO WRONG.

Yes-that is a WINTER HAT!
It has been close to freezing here at night.

Anyway-
ON TO THE SURVEY!

Grab your coffee or cola or a shot of gin.
This is a long post and it might raise some hairs
on the back of some necks.
Sorry 'bout that-
Don't shoot the messenger (me)-
I am just relaying the results!

And---here we go----

There are 75 comments
now as I am writing this post..
I deleted two of them because...
well, you don't want to know....
trust me!

#1-
Do you like getting replies to the comments
you leave on blogs?
Overwhelmingly- HECK YES!
A couple of you don't care whether you get a reply.
A couple of you DO NOT want a reply
because it CLOGS your INBOX.
That's okay with me- to each their own.
I, personally, plan on replying to every comment
(unless you said you don't want a reply)

#2-
Do you KNOW you are a NO REPLY when
you leave a comment?
Some of you that are NO REPLY people have
chosen to be that way.
I get that -life is busy and if you don't want
e-mails inundating your mailbox- I understand that.
SOME OF YOU were/are No Reply bloggers
and don't know it.
I take it as a mission to let you know that-
when I can.
A few of you I have NO way to contact....
like Cheryl in Wisconsin.
Love you and your comments, Cheryl but I have
no way to reply back to you....
just so you know I didn't forget to answer you back!

#3-
Do you ever go back to a blog to read a reply?
Overwhelming NO.
Just a couple of you do that.
A couple of you go back to a blog if there is an ongoing discussion there.

Do YOU reply to comments ON YOUR BLOG?
The majority do NOT like it when people do that.
Some of you were
adamant about it
thinking it was
rude and egotistical to do that.
I may have removed
one of those comments that said
just that in quite unkind language.
I would wash your hands out with soap if I could reach you.
(instead of the soaped mouth of the old days)...
which I never DID, by the way.

Some bloggers will add a reply to a comment
on their blog if there is no way for them
to answer a question that the commenter asked
ie-they have no return email address available.
I think that is a nice thing to do
....hope that made sense......

Also- added to this was
ADVERTISING.
I did not ask about this because
I know some people
use blogging as an income producing tool.
However, a lot of you
DO NOT like ads of any kind--
rolling ads and pop-ups seem to be  really disliked
and cause problems by slowing things down.
Most people find them just plain aggravating-
like I said- DON'T shoot the messenger....

Several of you said that you quit visiting blogs
that are filled with advertising and sponsors.

I, for one, will not advertise on my blog
but then I am not looking to make an income
from blogging.
I just want to talk at ya!

#4-
What would you like to see in my posts?
I swear you all are a bunch of ADD people
(for those of you NOT in the know-that is
ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER)
You said -post whatever-whenever-you don't care-
You like a little bit of everything.
Wow- I bet they had to tie a lot of you bloggers
to your seats when you were in school.
They never did that to ME.
Nosireebob-
*I was the one at the blackboard with my nose
stuck in a circle that the teacher drew on the board
to show me who was boss.
Yes-ma'am...that WAS me!

AND-Just about everyone
HATES Google+.
Hello.....
Are you LISTENING GOOGLE?
It has caused untold problems for so
many bloggers.
A few of you have followings at Google Plus
but even those that do have followings
admit that they have to keep changing their
settings-sometimes weekly-sometime monthly-
but they all get kicked to a
No Reply status at some point
and need to keep resetting it.

And last, but not least,
you LOVE the nonsense.
No fear about losing that feature.
I have a wicked evil sense of humor.
That does NOT always serve me well...
See *comment above.
MyHero will tell you that
he does NOT think I am funny
most of the time.

Thank you all for taking the time to comment.
I feel like I am good friends with many of you.
You are really a wonderful part of my world.
Whoever said bloggers are not
REAL FRIENDS
are stupid crazy idiotic
missing out on a getting to know
a great group of people!

So-there you have it.
This was a long post.
If you stayed here through it all-
Congratulations-
You are eligible for the
GRAND PRIZE.
An 8x10 unframed photo of
My Hero's underwear.
He burned it trying to dry it in the
MICROWAVE
while we were traveling.
He washed his underwear out in the sink
because he forgot to take spares with him.
Seriously.
See?
He may, or may not have,
set off the fire alarm in the room~
and that's all I'm gonna say about that!
oh-one more thing-
he may or may not have worn
underwear that day.....

Have a GREAT Tuesday!

  1. Well, let me start by saying that underwear just looks fantastic, Diana. : )

Surveys make for a great post - it's a great time for everyone to get out their feelings. I am sometimes surprised when others feel the same as me. I wonder if I am the only one feeling a certain way or think maybe I'm too picky. It is nice to see that I am not the only one!

  2. Men! Ewwww, just ewwww. But, the baby? Now, she's a beauty!!

  3. Oh Diana, That is one prize I do not want to win. Glad Hero didn't have a whole load of laundry. LOL I am loving blogging except for all my problems of this new set up on my computer...my gosh, I thought my old one was bad and hard to do..Hope everyone visits this post today. :):) xoxo,Susie

  4. Diana,
We have new neighbors...they are horrible. Their dogs barked like crazy from midnight until 3am and then, they settled into a general pattern of barking now and then, just because they were tired, I suppose. So, I will be about dead at work today...BUT, (and that is a big but but hey, let's not get personal! HA!) I will see your photo of your hubby's burnt underwear in my mind today and it will make me chuckle!
THANK YOU for helping me get through this day!!
    Love,
    Kay

  5. Okay, somehow I was running around with my head cut off yesterday and didn't get to answer your deep-thought questions, but I guess I'm in the minority, because I don't always need a reply to my comments on blogs. If I say, "Oh, I like that." I don't expect a "thank you" because then I feel like I should send an, "you're welcome" then they say the horrible, "no problem" . . . and on and on and on.
I just want to say, "I like it." Done.

And as for the photo of the baby, "I like it." Underwear? "Not so much."

  6. Cutest grandbaby I "know." And that is the truth! Cute baby and I feel like I know her! Thanks for taking this survey and being a super blog FRIEND. Hugs, Linda@Wetcreek Blog
    No prizes, please! ;)))

  7. Thank goodness for that beauty in the beginning making up for the Hero's undies in the end. LOL!!

  11. I know for a fact that while lots of folks responded, there are those same opinions held by many many others who are too busy being- NICE, to voice how they feel, even if asked..
I'm not at all surprised with the results of the survey and it was mighty brave of you to post it.
    Pretty Baby for sure.
ps ~ I kicked google plus to the curb so I think folks can reply to me.. If ever again that becomes an issue, please let me know.

  12. Oh boy that underwear! I'm in a house with three "men" so I get the underwear thing. =) Sorry I missed the survey. C'mon over when you have a chance, I'm having a cute giveaway that is for girls' only. =)

  14. Thank you very much for gathering the results! I was here multiple times reading responses. ;> Anyway, it was a lot of work and I appreciate it! Yes, adorable baby!

  15. OMG (the G is for Gosh by by the way), what an insightful survey.

I actually do the blog as a source of income, so I do have ads, but I do understand it does put some people off. It's either ads or go get a regular job (that I'd probably get fired from within two weeks for having to take so many days off because my son was sick from school once again).

Oh,and although I appreciate the offer, you can keep the photo of your hubbie's undies :) I do not need to see THAT everyday.

    ReplyDelete
  16. wow I made it all the way to the end! (but you can keep the underwear!!) It was interesting to read what everyone thought, I am on google+ and want to delete it but it says if I do, it will cause problems with using google sites,,is this true?

  18. How did I miss the survey? A few quick random thoughts ... I reply to comments most of the time. There are times when I get behind. But I do my best. I make a point to answer ALL questions. I only leave a reply on my own blog for a question from a no reply comment. And yes, no reply comments are kind of annoying. I don't really know why you would want to be a no reply commenter. I'm not in love with blogs with lots of ads. Some blogs take forever to load and I often just move on. Pop-up ads are the most annoying. I do understand that some people are using their blog for income and that's fine. Everyone should feel comfortable creating the blog that makes them happy. As a reader, it's my choice to stay or to go. To leave rude comments is just totally wrong. I think the cardinal rule of blogging is to just be nice! ... Only you could start a blog post with a beautiful baby and end with burnt underwear!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh yes, ADVERTISING!!!!! I loath, despise, gag at, hate, lose my cool because of, etc., ADVERTISING!!!!!

Will not keep reading blogs, where ADVERTISING keeps rearing its ugly head.

I will not have ADVERTISING on my blog.

Why does anyone have ADVERTISING, on their blog? Can they be getting "that" much money, from it???? Can it be worth it???

    Eeeek! Eeeeek! Eeeeeek!

LOVE you gal, for asking these questions!!!

  20. Re: The question about making comments on one's blog, to the comments made, on one's blog......

I think I need to be linked up with the gal who really got her knickers in a twist, about this. The one you couldn't publish. She sounds like my kind of gal.

Maybe she too, used to follow Mil blogs and no form of language, fazes her. Like me. (Mil blogs... blogs of people in the military... they say things, as they are!!!)

    Maybe we should Net-meet.

Then again, maybe we should not. If one puts to fire-crackers together, one does not know, what sort of combustion, might result. -gigggggggles-

But anyway, to whom ever that was, I understand, Hon. I do.

  22. I liked your post. Your grandchild is adorable. Advertising is annoying to me too! I will never have pop ups. And one more thing that is annoying to me, is the same old bloggers just continue to visit my blog when I post and NEVER leave comments and that is annoying to me, maybe not others. Have a wonderful week.

    ReplyDelete
  23. She's absolutely beautiful, Diana.
The results are as I expected!
I like the thought of Tessa and the firecracker together. ;)

  24. Wow- people are so opinionated. For me, My blog is my tiny little corner for family and friends. I don't get caught up in the whole blogging dos and don'ts.
    I didn't even know you could advertise.:/
I reply on my blog to comments didn't know that was so offensive. wow.. that does not mean I will change anything.
like Popeye once said. "I am who I am"

  25. Very Interesting survey! I missed it. I don't get on the computer every day - so it must have posted on a day I didn't check in. I loved reading the outcome, though. And I'm glad I didn't win! LOL I do however, hope whoever did win enjoys that picture! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks for sharing the "survey" results. I say do what YOU want. It's YOUR blog. If folks don't like it, they don't have to read :0! Have a blessed day!

    ReplyDelete
  27. your baby is adorable! glad you didn't publish my thoughts on here....might get in a wee bit of trouble! still waiting on your "list"!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Cute...Adorable baby!!!

I enjoy it when people comment, but it is not important to me that they do. I get back to EVERYONE that takes the time to comment. I am a "no reply" because I found people would never go to my blog and they would just cut and paste a pat "Thanks for visiting" in my email, Now, I don't need comments, but I think if people take the time to read my blog post, I should return the favor, I want to.... I feel it is the only way to form a friendship and get to know each other, the WHole reason for blogging in the first place! So, "no reply" does not mean you can't get a hold of a person, it just means you have to take the time to go to their blog to reply......So, I am always confused as to why it irritates people? Now there is some people that there is no way to get a hold of them, I find this mostly with Google + because I am not on Google +, that makes me feel bad.

And the underwear....I'm guessing the preacher went commando!! lol

I try to answer comments on my posts. I really apprieciate that people actually took the time to comment. Plus it is so nice to see the nice comments. I don't get a lot of comments. Guess I am not as interesting as you are. LOL. I am not into the advertisemnts. But also realise that a lot of people depend on them for income. Have a great day.

  34. Precious baby!! LOL, oh my, not the "dry it in the microwave"...we had a boss that would have his secretary "dry" his socks if he happened to walk to work in the rain and got them wet. Needless to say, none of us would use "that" microwave. Loved the survey.

  37. That's one cute baby and one really burnt pair of skivvies! If I like someone's content, I read it no matter what, emails, no-reply, advertisements, none of it matters if you can entertain, inform, or make me laugh. I guess I'm easy! Shhh, don't tell my husband! ;) I will say that I do answer comments on my blog, but I also email that response to the commenter. I post the answer in case it's helpful to someone else or the commenter is no-reply...but that's just my way! Happy Tuesday!

  41. I am late getting in here . I got two phone calls and the one friend talked for two hours. The other one for over an hour. The first friend she never talks more then twenty minutes max. I was so surprised. Anyhow . I read all these comments.Very Interesting on your survey. Your Sweetie Granddaughter is a sweetie. Alright. The hat is cute. The underwear oh my,my. You and Red have Underwear on the brain. He is Hiawatha House Blog. You must go read his blog. He crack's one up. His Title is I can't Find My Underwear. And two comments are so funny too.

  42. Hi Diana,
I have been so busy working that it's been awhile since I have visited. I did not see the survey, but I enjoyed reading the results. Your hero's undies literally made me laugh out loud!!!

I am happy to hear that you will not advertise....I loathe advertising on blogs...can't even begin to tell you how much...I delete blogs from my favorites that insist on making money from my visits....they all resort to the same dull posts....whatever they think is the current "hot" topic to make some cash.

    That baby is gorgeous!

    Hope to visit again soon.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh Yes, this is one of the things I mentioned before my looong comment which didn't show up. About replying to comments on my blog....... I am very aware and respectful of this, and if someone asked me a question, I always go to THEIR blog and answer it. You always e-mail me, which is the same thing, and so thoughtful. Very few people go back to another blog to see if they answered their question because, like you said, who has the time?

I like your blog very much because you post about all sorts of different things. I try to do the same with our posts - home décor, happenings in life, a bit of food and fashion. And Yes, I love it when you post about holiday décor. I think that so many people love to see décor in the home, and that's always a treat for me when you post about that.

Such a fun post, and it's very interesting to hear about what bloggers really like, isn't it? I feel very grateful to call you my special friend, Diana.

    love,
    ~me

  44. Love the responses! I agree with most! Such a great pole, Diana! I appreciate the information! Bright Eyes is so pretty! Her parents make such pretty babies! I need to live closer so I can babysit! She and her brothers are adorable!

    ReplyDelete
  45. First of all - I will never use a microwave in a hotel again. Second - Your grand baby is the prettiest baby I have seen in a very long time (since my youngest was a baby to be exact). Last of all - I agreed with most of the comments (I read them all) I avoid seeing advertising by using Firefox on the high setting. I haven't seen an add now in two years. I will try to be diligent on the no-reply thing. You would think Google would have better programmers working on this problem. Have a wonderful evening..... Candy

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh Diana, I am rolling over with laughter at your husbands....unmentionables! I even called my husband over to show him what he's missing in the blogging world. haha :)

Okay, onto more "serious" things.... I LOVED this and your survey! You are the best - did you know that? You really are and I am so grateful you did all this work! And as for the whole advertising, I would have to agree. It does slow down blogs and it usually keeps me from visiting that person often. I hate to say that, but it can be aggravating when my computer freezes up at their site.

    Thanks, Diana! Love and hugs!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Diana, I think your grandbaby is adorable-love those blue eyes. I read through your entire post-somehow didn't see the questions(I think I need to stop following some blogs so I can stay caught up with those that matter most-like you). I for one am so glad you don't advertise-it distracts me when others do.
    Hugs, Noreen

  48. Hi Diana, well I missed being able to comment on this survey being with my out of town family for the long weekend. I agree with your results. I find replies fine if anyone wants to leave them and I try and do the same as often as I can. When I am really studio busy and don't always have the time for replies, I then will reply by a visit to their blog and thank them there for a comment and this way I have gotten two things done at once. Like NOW~~ Thank you for stopping by and your sweet comment today.
What I find not too nice is those that only reply and never visit in return. That's just not good blog etiquette.
As for your post subjects, I love any and all you share. It's a great mix of topics for everyone. You always make me smile and it's a welcome part of my day.
I DO NOT LIKE ads on blogs. I understand those that need to do this, but I think it takes away from the blog look and creativity of the author!

Oh my goodness the baby is adorable and so cute. She truly is beautiful!!~
The underwear~~ my goodness that's a first I've seen this. Drying in the microwave. LOL Now I will think of this every time I might use the microwave in a hotel.

Thanks for the work involved for the great survey.
    Have a nice evening.
    Hugs and Blessings

  49. Wow that was interesting to read! Too bad some people lose their composure so badly over things like this. I was glad to see the majority of people agree on the topics. Your granddaughter is precious and too cute! I'm going to pass on the "hot pants"!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Sorry I missed your survey, but I agree with most of the findings. I would like to add that those "pop-up" ads are just the worst! Yeah, about that cute babe -- one grandmother to another, she is pretty darn cute! The burned jockeys were hysterical. Bet he won't do that again!

    ReplyDelete
  51. The baby's very cute but not so much the underpants.
    Merle.................

  52. Hahahaha!
Unfortuanately, I missed the survey as well...buy oh MY Goodness! this was hilarious. Of course your grand baby is the cutest in the world on THIS BLOG. I'd never ever disagree with that...but, on my blog, all my littles are the cutest in the world. ;) Kind of like I can be mad at my family...but don't you dare talk bad about them. LOL...
I do try to answer all the comments that come to my blog and I do via email-- when I can. If not, I let people know that they are no-reply commenter-- if I have another means to do it. I DO have google +... I don't like having it linked to my blog. Once it is...it's a booger to shake loose! AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON having TWO google accounts...because it takes an act of congress to get them consolidated.
If I can't reach you at an email-- I will leave a comment reply on my own blog, but I'm not sure if people check back or not, as I've never had anyone come back to read those comments and REPLY to them---except for TROLLS. :/
Do I check back my own comments? if I have to-- sometimes bloggers have the feature to receive an email if there is a reply. I try to do that so I don't miss a response. Otherwise... it's gone dismissed from my mind! Not because I'm careless...but because, I dismiss it. There just isn't enough time in my day...and my days are numbered ...just like everyone elses.
that's pretty much the extent of my do's and don'ts habit while blogging...
Oh! except for this... I don't microwave my underwear.
I would imagine it makes it crunchy. We don't need crunchy underwear! ever.
    BWA-hahahahahaha

  53. Oh, I know it will be difficult but please keep his underwear,, as a memento! I feel I need to explain myself, I do answer comments on my blog BUT I also give the answer on their blog...so I'm a twofer!!! Oh, I will take that cutie!

Maybe you'll do a post lettering all bloggers know that us who aren't on blogger but on WordPress can't comment unless name/url is an option. thanks for changing, now I can reply and NOT worry about being a very bad non-reply person!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I wish all blogs were like yours..You have the greatest sense of humor..You almost always make me laugh...Your children and grandchildren are beautiful...and your Hero puts up with your nonsense...You are a very lucky lady but then, they're lucky to have you...

Yes, I agree with some answers, like I do hate people not answering back comments or hostesses who don't care, or acknowledge weather you are welcomed at their parties, or hey, maybe they don't like your style of posts, whatever, but say so!
The underwear is hysterical! I love your posts and always enjoy them. I'm gonna check your survey so I know what people say, too.
    Big hugs,

  64. Oh, what a face on that baby! So precious! And the underwear? Well, the opposite side of the spectrum, lol. I don't get it - most people don't like comments replied to on blogs? Hmmmm....

  65. That little grandchild is precious! Easily the face on a Pottery Barn Kids catalog!
I really enjoyed your survey and this follow up summary. It's fun to see how other people react to the things that annoy me too! I admit to getting heated up about some things, but then I laugh at others who do the same. It's as if we bloggers are tax funded and better produce so everyone gets their money's worth! Actually, blogs are just little corners of our personal world that we decorate and invite people in to visit. If they don't like what they see, they are welcome to politely leave!

  66. You are hilarious Diana. I can't believe you actually showed a pic of your hubby's burned unmentionables on your blog (does he know?). I can't stop laughing.

  67. Great post - I think you hit everything right on the head about blogging. OMG you are so funny. Does you hubby know you wrote about his under ware? If he threw it in the trash I bet the maid had a good laugh...
    I'm still laughing.........................

  68. Wow, this was pretty interesting, Diana. I've been replying to comments on my blog all along because I just think it's a friendly thing to do. Didn't occur to me that anyone would think that's egotistical or rude. Having said that, I try very hard to always visit the blogger who left a comment and leave a comment on their blog, as well. Until recently I didn't realize I was a no-reply blogger. I've changed that. As for advertising, I do have a few indiscreet ads because, well, I spend a lot of time writing and coming up with what I hope is quality content on my blog, and if I can make a few dollars to help with the cost to have a domain name, then I'm going to do so. No banners, no pop-ups, no flashing lights. Money making is way, way down the list of why I blog. The most important thing to me is the relationships I'm building through blogging. I've met some great people. Secondary to that is my need to write. It's part of my DNA. As for hubby's underwear. . .uh, no thanks. You keep it. . .I'll take that adorable baby instead. Hugs, Nancy
