Yes- I do have a few Santas left
after I gave away my collection last year.
My four adult children snatched politely picked
out their favorites before
their siblings could take one
they wanted.
There were no arms broken in the process.
However, I kept a few of my favorites.
Here is one I got from a co-worker many years ago.
Isn't he pretty? The little wooden box is a miniature cedar chest
that belonged to my Mother.
The little basket in front was sent to me by a dear blogging friend.
I also love this Santa.
He sits on the little Paris table I painted last year.
He is more folk-artsy.
Here is what keeps him company.
A bird's nest in a cloche and the mix sign
from the old stockyard my Dad took me to when I was a child.
There is a sweet bird painting by my friend, Laurie.
Yes- I know you can see the "wires" -
That's a No-No I am told.
Close your eyes and ignore them , okay?
Forgive the lighting.
I am using a different camera and
can't figure out what I am doing.
No- It has nothing to do with being blond!
Here are a couple more Santas that I
painted on slates back in the late 80's.
I think I saw these images on Christmas cards
and copied them as best I could.
One more
Again-sorry about the lighting.
I will never get the hang of it.
AND-Just so you know,
just when I thought things were calming down in
ELF LAND.
There seems to be a new development here, folks.
Isn't there an old song called
Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places?
Whoa!
He's a fast mover!
Pop in tomorrow for the continuing soap opera saga of
As The Elf Turns Bad
I will be sewing today!
I enjoyed your post today. I have a few Santa's that I've collected over the years but didn't put them out this year. That Elf, what will he be doing tomorrow, can't wait to see. And is Barbie returning the LOVE!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your paintings and the tour of your home. Happy sewing! Perhaps, you had better bring the elf with you today.
ReplyDeleteThat first Santa in his sumptuous white robes is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteElf goes from looking quite coy to being as pleased as Punch!
Diana, Your painted santas are very good. I love the fancy Santa by your mom' s treasure box. I take pictures and look at them later ...thinking where was the light or way too much light. Not a pro:):) Love your Elf saga. Enjoy your weekend and be safe.xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteCute post. YOur santas are gorgeous and I love the ones you painted. Such a great talent. Hugs, Marty

ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful...
ReplyDeleteNot supposed to see the wires??? How does one accomplish that???? Hehhh... I even mix green wires with white mantle scarf. I am totally not into proper decorating. -giggggles-
Oh oh, watch that Elf! Keep him away from mistletoe. ,-)))

That elf!!!
ReplyDeleteYour Santa collection is very nice and I find it extremely difficult to photograph things in the house, period! So you are certainly not alone! :)
Diana,
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up. Love the little Elf and I heard he is a real player!!! Barbie better watch out but somehow I think Barbie can handle him!! Love your vignette and all the wonderful memories with all your pretty pieces. That Santa is gorgeous and I love the little sign that you got with your dad. Precious. Have a great day sewing. I know those outfits for Sweet Cheeks will be so fabulous.
Kris
I love Santas....and yours are great.
ReplyDeleteBoy, Christmas will be here in a blink of an eye and....I AM READY.
Looks like you are, too. :)
xoxo
Your little elf is quite dapper...and could get any gal! Barbie should be proud!
ReplyDeleteSharon
Love your Santa paintings...do you still paint? I painted years ago too, and have thought about doing it again....we'll see! I guess that little elf will have "the run of the house" with you busy sewing..lol! Hugs, Penny
ReplyDeleteI love your Santas! Your paintings are wonderful too. That Elfie sure does get around!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Deb
I love your Elf. He is so ornery but so darn cute too.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day Diana!
I love that beautiful Santa collection...Santas are my fav come C'mas time! The White one reminds me of one I gave my daughter for her b'day some years ago. Adorable Elf too. Your artwork is gorgeous too! Thanks for coming sweetie, you know YOU MAKE MY DAY!!!
ReplyDeleteLove,
FABBY
That elf is aiming kinda high, isn't he? LOL
ReplyDeleteYour white Santa is a beauty. Say, is that cedar chest that belonged to your mom from Lane? I understand that all graduating senior gals received one. My mother did.
It's nice that your Santas are mingling with such meaningful pieces on your tables. The Santas you painted are very impressive! And that elf? Better keep an eye on him or your gonna have a lot more elves to look after!
ReplyDeletewell at least your bad boy elf knows how to pick em. Hot and blonde!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sewing today also. I'm making baby doll clothes for Laynee's American Girl baby doll I got her for Christmas. I love to make doll clothes. Seeing that Barbie doll reminds me of all the tiny Barbie doll clothes I have made in the past. That Elf better watch his manners.
ReplyDeleteJudy
I love your Santas. And, you are quite a talented artist as well. That elf is too funny!
ReplyDeleteYou are very talented! Those Santas you painted are great! Someone needs to tell that elf where he belongs! xo Nellie
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you kept some Santas for yourself, Diana. My favorite is the one on your Paris table (love that table, btw!) Your painted creations are beautiful! And I love all of your glittery treasures, too:) Oh, Mr. Elf looks like he is getting a bit too friendly with poor Barbie!!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your Santas and Laurie's bird picture is beautiful. That elf just keeps on getting naughtier. I keep wondering who he is using as a role model xo Laura
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, Your home and Santa décor is beautiful and just says welcome to the holidays.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a very Merry Christmas and many blessings in the new year!
Hugs and Smiles!
Your elf is quite the ladies man.
ReplyDeleteNow I love all your decorations - but that first Santa is all white is just so classy and elegant!
Love, sandie
Thanks for the chuckle..Love that Elf..Very cute Santas...hope they bring you lots of goodies..Am I still a "no reply"?? You were going to let me know how to fix that??
ReplyDeleteI love your Moms miniture cedar chest!
ReplyDeleteYou still have more Santas than me. I favour the folk art one.
That naughty elf isn't going to get anything this Christmas if he doesn't shape up soon!
I love the curly-bearded Santa. He's spectacular! -- Jan
ReplyDeleteI gave all my Santas to my children and now I wish I had some of them back. That Elf is something else!!!
ReplyDeleteSmiles,Dottie
You are a very talented artist, Diana. I love your renditions of Santa. That elf better not get too fresh with Barbie.
ReplyDeletesome day i think, if i didn't stop by here at all, that i wouldn't smile. You are a wonderful painter, did you take a class in the '80s like the rest of us 'folksie' types? I have the same santa you have in the first pic, he's one of my fav's. I have a small collection of 'pencil' santas that hang o the tree and look like icicles. have fun sewing!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Diana to you and your family. I love your Santa's and I know that special person is going to love all of the doll clothes. We had freezing rain earlier and now the snow is coming down. Family all called earlier wanting to know where mom was at, but I am smart enough to know to stay home when the weather turns bad. Take care and stay warm. Many Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.
ReplyDeleteLove your Santas, I have a few out that are my favorites too.
ReplyDeleteI'll be praying for little Kalea.
Diana,
ReplyDeleteI love "Santa's", too.
I down sized my collection a few years ago and only kept a few. My decorating style has evolved in recent years.
Wanted to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas.
Hope to see lots of you in 2014!
Luv,Luv,
Elizabeth
You know, I thought fur sure that Elf learned it's lesson last year. Apparently, he's not the brightest in the land is he? Purrsonally, I think I would trade him in. Or if you want I can chase him around the house and rip his legs off. Bet he wouldn't be putting on such quick moves to the Barbie now would he?!?! Oh wait. Can't do that. Gotta be a good boy for a few more days....ask the Elf to hang around, I can come by and do some "house cleaning" after KissaMouse Holiday.
ReplyDeletePurrs and hugs and hoping that the Elf keeps your holiday magical and bright. While he still can ;)
Romeo and "her"
your Santa is so pretty. And who cares about wires. One year I tried to hide them all in my tree and they were such a pain to take off I said never again. I just string them along :)
ReplyDeleteYour elf is getting a bit frisky.
Your post cracked me up today...and bad elf! How in the world did he get to be on santa's team anyway??? Such a naughty elf!! Maybe it will be a one-night stand and Elfie boy will be eyeing some other girl. Just a few more days and he'll have to go on vacation for a year...maybe to Hawaii with the President???
ReplyDeleteAre you sewing this close to Christmas? I'm still making a Juliet costume for one granddaughter. I swore I wouldn't be making any gifts in Dec. You can be sure I'll be tuning in to see how Barbie and Elf are 'making out'!
ReplyDeleteThose dang elves are so ornery! Leave Barbie alone, you weirdo!
ReplyDeleteLawyer Barbie is going to slap that Elf on the Shelf with a sexual harassment lawsuit! ;P
ReplyDeleteLovely paintings, Diana. Good luck finishing up! You remind me of my mom. :) Meerry Christmas!
ReplyDelete~ Merry, that should have read. ~ "Meerry" is more my reading-silly-books-to-a-young-child accent showing through. ;)
ReplyDeleteoh poo, if you don't mind the wires, I don't.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
So sorry I missed this post. Love all your Santa's and the vignettes! Question-How do I add you to the list on my sidebar? Just want to be able to keep up with you.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Bonnie
