One of the best things about
living on the
Bay of Green Bay?
Watching the storms come in
from the West.
The skies are bright at the house
but looking West we see
the sky darken.
Our neighbor goes down on the dock
for a closer look.
The sky gets darker still and
you can see the rain coming
in a line across the Bay-
kicking the water up in its path.
Can you see it?
The rain hits the lawn....
I am sitting inside on the couch
watching the movement of
nature around us.
Look! Look! I cry excitedly.
No response!
LOOK- IT'S HERE- I say
with a raised voice.
No response.
I look to my right.
Remember the rest of that
childhood poem?
Sure you do!
It's raining....
It's pouring....
The old man is SNORING.....
Do you think THIS might cause
a stir of excitement?
I hope I don't burn my fingers!
Do NOT try this at home!
I'll let you know how it works out-
Meanwhile -Hope you have a
wonderful QUIET Sunday!
Lucky girl, to live on the water like this... I love to watch the approaching "weather" too... as long as it's not debilitating!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing view you have from your couch! ... And I think all men just love naps!
ReplyDeleteYou do have an amazing view. My husband can be asleep within seconds of hitting the couch. It's definitely a "guy" thing.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a view you have and you can just see that rain coming right at you!
ReplyDeleteLove the shot of the snoring husband! HA! YOu are a hoot!
Oh, let me know how that turned out.
ReplyDeleteoh come on now.... let that man sleep. use the dynamite when he doesn't get your honey do projects finished!! :)
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how you were going to work that rhyme into your post. Lol. Too funny.
ReplyDeleteI love watching storms come in. How cool to see it come in over the water.
Hugs, Cecilia
too funny. that is one thing my Mr does not do, he just goes to bed way to early!
ReplyDeleteDiana, I could wake Ted up and he just rolls around like a cat. Me?, if someone wakes me up, I jump like an olypian. So no firecrackers please. Poor hero:):) He doesn't have a chance. There's you and then there's SC. LOL xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteLOL! That's how I often find my husband on the weekends, Diana. Then I have to do quiet things. Yesterday I came home from my daughter and granddaughter visit to find him sleeping in the sunroom with the television on.
ReplyDeleteYou have lovely views! Be careful with the dynamite. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I'm WAY to late to tell you not to do this! You've surely LOST your computer privileges by now! heeheehee! Enjoy your day my friend! If you need a place to stay...let me know!
ReplyDeleteI could write a book. My hubby is a snorer and a jerker. Me? I am the snoree and jerkee...and if I try to get him to quit...he says...quit waking me up, I was sleeping....Well, Good for him!!!
ReplyDeleteAw let he poor guy sleep, he looks tired.
ReplyDeleteLove that you can see the storms coming in.
Jen
Your yard even looks good in the rain! Thanks for the chuckle.
ReplyDeleteSame scene sitting across from me as I sit on the sun porch enjoying my morning cup of coffee. Honestly he just got up and he need to nap????? '-)
ReplyDeleteWow! What a terrific view!
ReplyDeleteWhen my daughter was little she used to think the words were "It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is boring."
Out of the mouths of babes...
Blessings,
Linda
LOVE IT!!!! And by the way....I'm freezing up here! Are we going to have 'post-winter' until September????? What a contrast to last year! Worked for two straight days in the yard; I am completely imobile today except for my typing fingers! Love the view from the Bay; watching a storm come in over the water is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHow cool to watch the storm roll in! We just had another storm come through with tornadoes on Friday that dumped a lot of rain on us and took out a lot of homes in the next county from us. We are back to the drawing board on our gravel road! Start over with new gravel again!!
ReplyDeleteHope you are doing well. I've been super busy with work, working on the house and the youngest graduating from high school.
LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love to watch storms coming in. How exciting to be right on the water to watch them.
I love rainstorms, too. What a cozy spot you have to watch them roll in.
ReplyDeleteAre you the Roadrunner or Wile E. Coyote? I'm not sure. LOL
Beautiful photos Diana, and of course, the humor I always love!! Thank you so much for your kind and loving words on my blog today :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Marcia
Hahhahahha! You are incorrigible!
ReplyDeleteI just did a post much the same as yours and we are on the other side of the world so it 's raining everywhere and the men and in my case, cats are all snoring.
ReplyDeleteToday is sunny and bright hope it's the same in your neck of the woods.
Merle......
you guys are precious! loved the photos!
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful view you have! I don't blame your husband for taking a nap during the storm. Looks like just the right thing to do with that going on outside.
ReplyDeleteOh Diana, you make me giggle :) Your photos are stunning, especially that first one. Thanks for sharing with us. Today was hot here in CO - 84 degrees.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you!
What an awesome spot from which to watch nature.
ReplyDeleteYou can really see it coming at you.
As for the last part of the poem, the same thing is happening here. The snoring...not the rain.
Hugs,
I love rain storms! We had a southern "gully washer" today! Your view is lovely! Your "old man" is cute too! He reminds me of mine!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! Wow, love your big lake view. Our lake is a lot smaller.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day,
Deb@LakeGirlPaints
Oh how fabulous. What a gorgeous view!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous view! Wowsa! I love watching storms roll in...although we had storm here on Friday night that flooded our new basement :(
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, my hubs would've slept thru it if my son hadn't woke him up!
Rain and naps go together! Your view of the water is beautiful. What a blessing to have coffee every morning overlooking the water.
ReplyDelete:) He can sleep on windy nights :) Did you ever read that story when you were a kid? About the boy that 'could sleep on windy nights'?
ReplyDeleteWhat a view!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
Hi Diana, looks like a peaceful time for a nap. The view is gorgeous, dark sky and all.
ReplyDeleteIf I hear an explosion, I'll know it is coming from the north. LOL
XO
Hi Diana! Oh, yay! Rain, and how nice it is. Make sure your hubby doesn't see this post! ;)
ReplyDeleteSo that's where the bottom part of the Finn is! Isn't that something!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Such a gorgeous view! I've been known to nap and snore too!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, I had to chuckle when I read your post today. That would be my other half snoring away only to hear him tell it, he doesn't. I love your view from the house. Do you see many boats? I enjoyed the post about the girls and I can see Sweet Cheeks running for the mayor's job. Who knows she just might do a better job?? HeHe. I liked their page so anybody seeing my face book page will see about them. People travel. I know some that was leaving for Florida over the weekend. I just hope they didn't get caught in any of the storms.I don't know how they were going. Have a wonderful week. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh.....what a view you have, Diana! Incredible!!!!! Do you guys swim off your seawall? I'll bet that "the old man" is pooped from trying to keep up with you, girl! lolol!
ReplyDeletexoxo laurie
What a beautiful post so see the storm coming in and the choppy water.
ReplyDeleteWe never see anything like that here in So CA.
You make my day - so glad your back!
Mary
LOL!!! They just don't get a kick out of the small things that we do!
ReplyDeleteCarol
Haha! I know what you mean. When I see Hubby's eyes closing, I know what is soon to follow! Snore!! And he snores LOUD!
ReplyDeleteYou have the most wonderful view! But, I have to be honest, I'd rather not see rain clouds at the moment. :)
Your view is simply stunning! I couldn't take my eyes off the sky! I vote no on the firecracker. Paybacks are usually not worth it! Lol.
ReplyDeleteIs the house still standing?? Did you blow up your new computer?? or was that noise just a loud snort from your husband?? :)
ReplyDeletexo
Laura
LOL It poured on us at the lake this weekend. We were towing a broken down boat into a marina for this couple, trying to do a good deed for these kids, and we get DRENCHED!!! So I guess we've done our good deed for the week...HA!
ReplyDeleteOh, my, Miss Nana...you're so naughty....I supposed you woke the old man up! *giggles*
LOL... Why is it that men can sleep through anything?
ReplyDeletehaha!!!
ReplyDeletewhat a view!
Wow Diana, It looks so pretty! Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I'm not getting email notices of your postings any more..I tried to sign up again and they said I ws already a follower..We'll see..It just occurred to me that I hadn't seen you for awhile..
ReplyDeleteLove your view..great pics..
He is going to so get you, Diana! If he hasn't already.
ReplyDeleteBut your view (to the lake) is beautiful, ever changing, awe inspiring. I love it. You are blessed to live there.
I have memories of watching the rain come up/across the river/lake a number of years ago. Quite a sight to watch. That picture puts me in mind of the man of the house here.:-) xo Nellie
ReplyDeleteI need a view like yours! Beautiful! By the way, I also have one of the "old man snoring" LOL
