I met my daughter, Mimi,
in a little thrift shop.
This mirror screamed my name at
$9.95.
My daughter screamed, too-
YOU DON'T NEED
ANOTHER MIRROR.
Sometimes I just pretend I am deaf.
(snicker, snicker)
My husband has perfected that art
so I am learning from him.
I am pretty sure this mirror was part of a
French Provincial bedroom set.
It was pretty in its time.
Today the top looks like this....
Here's what it looked like when I
picked it up.
See what I paid?
It hangs just off our entry hall now.
Yeah- don't mind the reflections
and anything that might be amiss-
This was done with acrylic paints
mixed and layered
and then I pounced some gold
all over it.
It kind of has an olive tone.
I like it-
Would you believe I have another
mirror just like it waiting for a
redo, too?
Next one will be white-I think.
And here y'all thought I was
just sitting on my butt the whole
time I had no computer.
Pffffffffttttt...
Now, if you are very good and
don't delete me from your blog list,
tomorrow I will show you
SweetCheeks and Company
with the mayor!
And, no, she is NOT running
for office...........
YET!!!!!
It looks beautiful! I always love to see what you'll create next!
ReplyDeleteI love mirrors too ( not to look in, just sayin) I just love the simplicity of them in decor. I have several in need of makeovers. Don't listen to the nonsense about not needing another one... I hung one in my garden recently, so pretty reflecting the plants. I love what you did with yours. I may have to try the paint layering and gold smashing technique. Very pretty in your foyer. Here is to all us mirror huggers. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWow you did a great job ! Happy weekend to you !
ReplyDeleteyour mirror turned out perfectly! happy friday!!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Wow! That looks awesome! I am always amazed at what paint can do.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm just so happy that you're perfecting the 'not hearing you' skill. I learned it myself from my 6 kids, who make it an art form :)
Diana, I think you got a great deal on the price and it looks wonderful. Some times things just need a little love. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Nana Nana Diana! I've missed you along with thousands of others!
ReplyDeleteI love your mirror and I would have bought that in a heart beat!
Hugs
Sissie
Well, look at you painting and I'm glad I'm not the only one with talking furniture.
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, What a beauty!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteXO!
LOL I wonder if Sweet Cheeks shared her Bible verse with the mayor! I think all politicians need to be reminded of something larger than themselves every now and again. I can't wait for that post! She is so flippin' cute!
ReplyDeleteLove your mirror and can't wait for tomorrow!!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
I love the lines of your new mirror, Diana! Great bargain. Always go with your gut feeling!

You are a bit clever diana! very lovely finish and it was an awesome price!!! love the end result! looking forward to seeing sweetcheeks and the mayor!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so pretty, Diana! I love it! I found a top piece to a set like that and painted it up. It's got a great architectural look to it. Sweet Cheeks has some adventures for such a young lady! Some of them sound like they could be titles for books like "Sweet Cheeks Meets The Mayor". : )
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work, Diana. I predict it's only a matter of time until SweetCheeks has her name on the ballot!:-) xo Nellie
ReplyDeleteHi Diana! Oh I love your mirror and you did a wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Very nice makeover. I assumed you were busy working on all sorts of special projects while you were offline.
ReplyDeleteYes, I thought you were just sitting on your butt while you were gone. Who knew you were being all Martha Stewart-ish.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful and you had the perfect spot for it! What a deal my friend! We are older and wiser than our kids! hahaha!
ReplyDeleteNice job, Diana. I love the touch of gold overtones.
ReplyDeleteOoo ooo ooo! I think I have the rest of that set in my garage, waiting for a paint job! My daughter wants blue, and has a specific look in mind that we found on the internet, but I wasn't sure how to do it. This is it!! I'll be calling you for all the details! Okay, maybe emailing. You can walk me through it. Because I know you don't have anything else to do! ;) Soooo glad to see you back again!
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I have kids that yell at me too. You don't need this or that LOL. I ignore them completely. I just purchased another mirror too. I think they have the power to bewitch! Yours turned out great. I need to get to work.
ReplyDeleteThat is a find, good thing you turned a blind eye, I mean ear..lol.
ReplyDeleteJen

ReplyDeleteHi Diana! I don't know a single woman who would not have jumped on that gorgeous mirror. You have done a spectacular redo. Looking forward to seeing little SweetCheeks with the mayor.

ReplyDeleteOh! It is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteSmiles, Dottie

Judy
It's always fun to see your projects, Diana! Great job on the transformation! I'm always on the hunt for mirrors, too!
ReplyDeleteSitting on your butt or not, you are just full of helpful tips and information! I wonder if I can learn how to be 'man deaf' from Magoo?
ReplyDeleteLove your mirror- what a steal!
I hope Sweet Cheeks said 'blah blah blah' for the mayor. ;)
I LOVE it! My son cleans out apartments when people get evicted and has brought home two really big framed mirrors. (There's always a place for another mirror, right?) They need some tlc too - but you can't beat FREE!!!
ReplyDeleteshhh - I have 16 mirrors hanging in my tiny little flat............
ReplyDeleteObsessed? ( a little )especially since I can't stand looking in them lately. BUT if I had been with you - you would not have brought that home - because it would have been in my cart before you even saw it -
It's gorgeous Diana - beautiful technique!!!
XOX
Can one have too many mirrors? This is a perfect redo, Diana. I walked away from a good buy this week. Now I'm kicking myself. I went back and it was gone. '-(
ReplyDeleteYeah! What a find! Love it! You did a wonderful job transforming the mirror's frame! We're hoping for some rain Sunday to Monday - I hope you stay cool and have a wonderful weekend,

Mirrors are one of my weaknesses ...this one was a great find...Love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, I like your mirror and all that counts is do you like it. I know the price was right. I can't wait for tomorrow's post. I have some visions of what she might have said. Leave it to the younger generation. Sometimes they do a better job then we do. Have a wonderful day. Hope the storms miss you. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.
ReplyDeleteAh yes mirrors I too have an addiction I mean a fondness for them! Love your transformation!

It looks great, Diana! I love to see furniture remakes.
ReplyDeleteOh my- what a makeover!! You have to be so insightful to even look at something like that and know how it will look after the makeover-- I could never do that! The mirror is just gorgeous in your home-- an absolute treasure:)
ReplyDeleteYour visits are so special to me- you always make me smile-- thank you -- xoxo
Vicki
