Alphabet Laughs- Q Is For Quints And Quiet And Quips

This post doesn't start off
with a laugh today.
Does anyone remember the
They were the first known set of
QUINTS to survive.
Aren't they beautiful little girls?
At four months old they were removed
from their parents and not returned
until they were nine years old.
You can read about it by
clicking on the link.
So Sad!
Which made me think how
QUIET
that house must have been with
all those babies removed.
I experience only a shadow
of what that must have been like
when the kids leave after
being here for a day or two.
The house is
QUIET.
And, while I do like the quiet,
I also like the hum of activity.
While SweetCheeks is visiting
I almost always jot down a
quip or two from her.
She is just
FULL OF IT
and you know what I mean by that
when I am driving her home-
She is always thinking about
something-you never know
WHAT will come out of her mouth.
Nana!
What?
How come Papa sleehps
with his underweahr on?
Those are pajama shorts, SweetCheeks.
No theyhre nott-theyhre his
underweahr.
-Okay-
I am not gonna argue
with a 5 year old- well...I might
sometimes but not today.
You know WHY he weahrs his
underweahr to bed?
No-Why?
So, God dusn't see his buhtt
when he gehts up to go to
the bafthroom!
An answer for everything!
....Gotta love a kid like that....

Can you tell she is her own
best audience?

  4. I've read about the Dionne quintuplets before, it is a very sad and shocking story. That they were exploited in such a terrible way, and gawked upon by so many is awful.
SweetCheeks is too funny! She is probably right though ;)

  5. Heehee! Isn't it funny to think of the things that must go through her mind on a daily basis?

  6. My grandmother had a calendar with the Quints picture on it, never thought to ask where she got it.

Maybe you should have told her so SHE wouldn't see his butt when he got up to go to bathroom, lol.

  7. I love that she is her own best audience, that means she's secure in herself, what a refreshing change from all we hear now about kids and their self doubts, this kid has her head on straight,

  8. So funny, Diana! I was about to ask where on earth she gets her ideas and kooky sense of humor from. And then I remembered: YOU, of course!!!

  9. Outta the mouths of babes! I love it! :)
Diana, here's a tute I gave on a blog post about those little glitter houses. I hope you'll make some and then show us!

  10. She is just so funny. The picture of her just shows that she is quite a little stinker. I bet your hubby had a laugh on that one.
Not funny about those babies. I just barely remember that. Didn't know they were taken away. I will have to read about it.
    Have a good week-end.

  11. Diana, I would love to spend a day with you and Sweetcheeks.:):) She cracks me up. Speaking of little quips kids repete...Emma repetes things Ted Bear says. Like when Emma saw a palomino horse, he said any palomino is a pal-of-mine-oh. Or when the cat bats at her, he says that the cat is saying"I'll hit you with my left so many times that you'll beg for a right." Then I hear her saying it.
Where can I get some of those underpajamas??:):) Smiles to you, Susie

  16. Can you imagine the kids she's going to have? Lord have mercy.
I remember the quints and they did a lot of ads for ivory soap. I think they took them to make money off of them and when the cuteness wore off, they sent them back home. I wonder who made off with the bucks?
Well- its raining already here. Got to go out and put some tarps up.

  17. We can presume that God hates bare butts from this. I think she just likes saying the word butt! It's true the quints were horribly exploited and had many psychological issues when they grew up. Aren't we doing the same think today? Now, we put them on TV. ~ Maureen

  18. Love this! I taught young children for 30+ years. You never know what they are going to say, but it's usually something that will make you chuckle with delight.

  20. What a hoot! How do you keep from rolling in the floor?!?:)

Our oldest was 20 months old when we had twins! I imagine there were many times when we thought we had triplets! I cannot imagine having five at the same time, but I certainly wouldn't want them taken away! I remember when those quints were born. I guess that definitely puts some years on me!:)

    Have a wonderful Friday, Diana.

  43. Hi Diana, I thought I would drop in before I call it a day. Looking forward to three days off. I remember the quintuplets. I had forgotten about them being taken away. Sweetcheeks gave me a chuckle, I even told that to my hubby and he laughed. Our son gets his electricity back tonight or tomorrow. A hot meal is what he wants. Have a great weekend. Hugs Your Missouri Friend.

  44. OH MY! I am still laughing...tell her I didn't know that and I always wondered! heeheehee!

  45. Love Sweet Cheeks, Diana...I know she keeps you entertained! ♥ That is so sad about the Dionne quints; I didn't know they were removed from their home...
My Mom had one of the dolls they made of them; Marie. I played with her when I was little (she was one of those "composition" dolls with the teeth, which always kind of creeped me out...)
Years later, when Mom moved, Marie and another doll of Mom's (Sunshine), mysteriously disappeared...we didn't even realize it until much later. Mom had had a garage sale at the old house, and we think someone must have "helped themselves" to the box the dolls were in...even though it wasn't part of the sale :(
    Hugs,
    Anne
