I had planned to show you
another painted piece
today- but yesterday
we had high winds

So...No painting
got done.

I do have something to

Most times when the

However,
I do have something to
share.
Most times when the
kids sleep over I make
(click above to read about it)
However,
this morning they got up
early and headed outside
to play
in the mini pool.
It is funny to see them
splashing about in that
little old pool.
It just goes to show you that
you don't need to spend
BIG MONEY
on things to please kids.
What follows playing outside?
Hunger!
No Three Bears Cereal
this morning.
Too Hot!
Too Hot!
How about waffles?
I pulled out my
Pancake and Waffle Mix box.
Uh-Oh-
EMPTY!
Hmmm...
Where is my waffle recipe?
I found one online.
The batter was
REALLY THICK
so I wondered how the
waffles would turn out.
We're waiting to see.....
Surprise!
It makes the best
waffles EVER!
Slightly crunchy outside
and moist and soft inside.
Do YOU think they are good?
Well~
SOMEONE DOES!
Gotta love a kid
that loves her
Nana's waffles!
And these two?
Well, they are
STUFFED
and fell over in a stupor.
Diana, You always have fun with those sweet girls. Seeing them in the little pool , made me think of my girls when they were that age.Your waffles looked good.:):) Smiles, xo, Susie
ReplyDeleteI'd get one of those little pools and sit in it myself if it's hot enough, Diana! We have a little inflatable {baby size} for the granddaughter, but I could see myself hanging out in it with a nice glass of orange juice {with the vodka, of course!}. The HOA would probably get complaints, but hey, as long as I'm cool.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Vodka in the oj!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the girls had a fun day at Nana's house, that's for sure.
The humidity was horrible here yesterday too. Cool today though, expected to be in low 70s.
Plastic pools are the best. How fun that you have your grandchildren over so often. I'm definitely envious. We don't have family near our town and my girls would love to see family more often than they do. Good luck with painting. It's much cooler today but the wind is definitely blowing across the big lake.
ReplyDeletethey look they had a ball. The waffles look great, can't wait to see the paint job, hope the wind doesn't blow!
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmmmm..... I love waffles! And the older girls look like they're working on their tans. They're going to be glowing with sunshine before you know it.
ReplyDeleteI love to seeing kids outside playing and just having simple fun. Seems like kid's lives are often so scheduled and planned, there isn't a whole lot of time for just playing. I think that's kind of sad. Is that my age showing? I've said it before, your grandchildren are lucky to have you and you are making special moments and lovely memories. ... The waffles sound good too. I like them a little crunchy on the outside!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your waffles, it made me regret that I gave mine away. Same goes for my slow cooker. Just not enough cupboard space in the small apartment. Plus, they just took away our lockers. They will be building apartments where our lockers were. When I see your three girls, sometimes it makes me sad that mine are all grown up. I looked after all three of them when they were young. I miss those days! Enjoy every moment, Diana! Hope you get a chance to paint today.
ReplyDeleteFun times! Seeing the plastic pool reminds me of something that happened when I was a kid. We lived in Georgia and had an American Eskimo Spitz (Snuffy) who lived outside. My parents got him a plastic wading pool to keep cool. The little boy who lived behind us wanted a pool too, but his mom said no. "But Mom, Snuffy has a pool!"
ReplyDeleteLooks like they are having a great time. I want one of those pools for just me:) after I mow- weed eat- blow off all the trimmings I could strip n jump in if I put it inside my privacy fence-- wooooohooooo..
ReplyDeleteDiana, I tell you that you are the best nana ever-even better than me! Our whole gang wants to do a sleepover and I've got to plan it. Of course I don't think the two youngest will come but the rest will love being here. I sure wish you were next store-I think we'd have loads of fun and trouble.
ReplyDeleteHugs,Noreen
You are right, you don't have to spend a fortune to amused kids.... mine love the vintage sprinkler. Sometimes I hang it in the trampoline... hours of fun!!
ReplyDeleteOh those childhood Summer days, some of my best memories...
ReplyDeleteYou and your grands are making beautiful memories to last a lifetime.

I'm sitting here starving. I love, love, love crispy waffles. Wonder if I have any eggs?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day for the girls. Love waffles ... will have to give this recipe a try.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful day ~

The fun days of summer, for sure! How sweet these girls are!
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I just got done making waffles for my kiddos this morning. :-) My daughter calls them "the waffles with the big holes" which of course is what differentiates them from frozen toaster waffles. LOL!
ReplyDeleteVanessa
Vodka in the orange juice!! HAHAHA! That's almost as bad as Triaminic in the cool aid!
ReplyDeleteThe waffles look amazing!
You don't need to spend a lot of money. Some of the best times we had at my grandma's house were when she'd flood irrigate her lawn. No pool, just a few inches of water everywhere!
I'm betting on the Vodka, it will do it every time.
ReplyDeleteJulie ordered a pool yesterday to put in her back yard, so if they can't go to the beach, they can enjoy the water at home.
Just wanted to say how much I adore you :-)
ReplyDeleteI have always loved kiddie pools... So easy, so entertaining.. and all the fun little toys to throw in there too!
ReplyDeleteyou're the best nana...and those waffles look great. My sons love waffles too. with cinnamon in the batter.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your caring supportive word on my art journey lately. it means a lot that someone cares enough to write me a nice note on my blog too
-KAT-
Well, aren't they just the cutest bathing beauties ever?!? What fun you have with them!
ReplyDeleteHope you're getting that painting done!
xo
Hi Diana! I was thinking about you when I made my last blog post! I had to put a line through something and you are the queen of that!!
ReplyDeleteAnd now, the queen of waffles!!
xxDaniella
I don't think you will be painting today. We have got such a good breeze here today.
ReplyDeleteI want one of those little pools. Is that how they got sun burnt? Yep, that would do it.
Sitting out on the deck with the laptop enjoying the cooler weather.
Kids are happy with whatever you give them and that's what makes it fun. We got a waffle iron for Christmas just to make them for the grandchildren. Lord knows we don't need the extra weight! Hope you have more sunshine so we can see your progress on your project.
ReplyDeleteI love waffles! When you find a good recipe to make pancakes that are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, let me know! That's Cracker Barrel's, but mine just don't seem to turn out the same. What fun that you had them all over to your home. I bet they LOVE going to your place.

Ah yes, that vodka in the oj will do it every time! Good job!!!
ReplyDeleteSo it was hot and humid here today, I wonder if you really did get your painting done today. Couldn't have done it here for sure.
BTW - have to try your waffle recipe, as we have someone in this house who really loves his waffles!!!
Hope you are having a good start to your week!
Hugs and purrs,
"Her" and Romeo
Mmmmmm! Those waffles sound scrumptious, Diana! I can remember my mom making them for dinner sometimes as a special treat. :) Sooooo....when you spend the weekend here, you are now officially in charge of breakfasts. (and we have reeeal maple syrup, too). lol!

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely place for your g'daughters to hang out. It reminds me of the fun I had with my cousins at my grandma's every summer.
You are creating great memories for your little girlies.
Hi Diana!
ReplyDeleteI love waffles...especially homemade!
Lucky girls having fun at Nana's.
I had one niece here last week and two coming on Sunday for a week.
We have so much fun that I can only imagine the fun of grand kids!
You try to keep them off the "juice" now!
Hope you can get to your painting soon. I've been missing your smiling face!
That was quick thinking on Nana's part. I still love waffles. There is something so decadent about them with all the butter and syrup. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, I enjoy reading about your grand daughters and have a chuckle or two. My youngest grandson thinks he is getting a pool because they are cutting down a big tree in their backyard. It is split and they want to take it down before it falls on something. I enjoyed both post, but then I just enjoy your girls. I think I will come to your house for breakfast. HeHe. Have a great day. Hugs from Your Missouri Friend
ReplyDeleteSO fun, Diana...I call my grandson the Waffle King...he loves his grandma's waffles, too!
ReplyDeleteGoodmorning~
ReplyDeletethanks for visiting, thanks for the prayers, and thanks for following.
love your blog and am following you now too.

What fun times with Nana! Waffles and all those special treats and just the wonderful times you spend with them...what a beatufiful, loving and special Nana!
ReplyDeletepsst....I'd love to laze around in your back yard, what a summer place!
Hugs,
nancy
Looks like they're having fun and that's all that matters.
ReplyDelete- The Tablescaper
Just adorable. They will always cherish those sleep over memories...
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for a homemade waffle recipe. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love the kiddos? They can have fun in a cardboard box or a little kiddie pool. If only adults could be pleased so easily.
ReplyDeleteLove the recipe, I am gonna try it.
BTW, are you watching the new Dallas, tonight? Bob and I are gonna give it a try. For years, that was our Friday night date, in front of the TV with J. R.
Say hello to the girls. xo Ginger
My grand daughter has more fun in my little plastic pool too! She plays with plastic measuring cups in it...just proves you don't need all those expensive toys for them to have fun! Hugs, Penny
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't love homemade waffles? I love them and make them on special occasions. Hmmm....Fathers Day will be here soon, maybe I should dust off the waffle iron.
