I am changing my name to
Rust Rustler.
I used to round up the
cows as a kid so I guess
I was a
Cow Rustler.
But, now, I am after
RUST.
You remember MyHero
does not like rust...
any rust...
especially when it gets
on concrete.
So here is my
Sweet Rusty Grate
Grate #2.
She weighs about 35 pounds.

I moved it to the front porch
so you see it just
just as you open the door.
Let's dress this baby up.
She looks sweet..
almost angelic...
Let's add a little angel.
See the rust on the concrete
where this was sitting
before I painted it?
Yeah...that is punishable by
death in this family.
Okay- I might have exaggerated
about the death part...
but...

ever get scolded?

Not saying that I ever get scolded.

girl's name.
He is sitting on the deck outside
my dining room.
This deck needs a good cleaning.
I should get right on that.
Yeah...
Shoulda/Woulda/Coulda
cleaned it so I could show
you the whole thing.
But...then what would I
have to talk about later?
Oh...by the way,

Diana, Those grates are just beautiful. I love the way you are displaying them. Mmmm...rust on concrete, not so good. You need to see the floor of our basement . rust spots everywhere.:)

ReplyDeleteyou just keep getting better and better, thats a great grate ( theres something you would say, ha ha ), what a wonderful find they were heavy but lovely painted white, I don't mind the rust but they do fit your style pure white, just my impression, not that I know your style but to me it looks, Victorian, / shabby chic, old roses/ Rachel Rathwell, well you have beautiful taste.
ReplyDeleteThose are some pretty cool planters. Maybe if you google rust removers you can find one that removes it from concrete? Gotta keep the man happy (OK, I just can't say that without laughing). They do look great on your porches.

ReplyDeleteAnd one of my son's doesn't like rust at all either. He did body work and he says it's like car cancer. On a classic car it eats away at it's body and depreciates it's value. And even after it's been repaired he can spot it. How, I don't know.

And yes, I sure do get scolded, I tell you, I think are guys are two peas in a pod! Thought of you the other day as I was spray painting my rusted out "smooshed" welcome bucket that I always have hanging by our front door!!

ReplyDeleteWho would think that rusty old grates could become lovely plant holders that would not blow away. We had a few strong winds in the last couple of weeks and something light would have gone bye bye. I tried your idea of putting roof shingles down to retard weed growth and by cracky, I think it really works. Thanks Diana.

ReplyDeleteHello Diana, The grate is just lovely - did you use a rust inhibiting paint? You can try CLR, Rust Remover, Baking Soda + Hydrogen peroxide to tackle the rust - if worse comes to worse you can try TSP - hardware store guys will know what that is!

Hey girl, if you ask me all rust is good except the rust you find in dirty underwear. OOH I know, gross! lol! The grates are FAB! I would snag them up in a hurry if I ran across them. Oops, I mean rustle them up. Love how they turned out. And yes, I have left rust spots and paint spots and other stuff in places that I shouldn't. Hubby just shakes his head.
