The View Outside Our Window

I moved away from
FLORIDA
when I married MyHero.
He was from the Midwest
and wanted to go home.

For as many years as I have
been gone there are still
things that I really miss.
One of them is a
SOUND.
It is the sound of palm trees
"rustling" in the wind.
There is no other sound quite
like it.

Here is the view right
outside the condo where we
are staying.
Ground floor.
Close to the trees
and I can
HEAR the palms blowing
in today's rain laden breeze.
I am enjoying my cup of
Starbucks.
The quiet is broken only
by the sounds of geese in
the little inland lake,
the chirping of birds,
the cheeky call of the squirrels
and the...
Oh..wait..
There might be a few
OTHER SOUNDS
that drown that out.
Oh---but what a joyful sound that is.
Two of my little tag-alongs
finishing up their lunch.
Soon it will be quiet
because
there are sweet baths being given
 in the big tub.
SOMEONE is getting her
hair washed
(can you see BabyE watching the process)
Then, there are naps to be had
and, once again,
all is quiet
except for the rustling of the
palms in the
rain laden breeze.
Just kidding...
As they say at
DIZZY WORLD
Have A Magical Day!

  2. That is a wonderful sound...remember that well. Since we have known around here, it was such a surprise when we were down there. Love the photo of the rain...when we were there it rained every afternoon about the same time. It was our nap time, too. LOL

  5. I hear a lot of birds where I am, including owls. The palms have almost a rough papery sound, at least the ones near our house :). Blessings today, Kim

  11. I remember that sound from when I was there, so peaceful. I miss that unique green color of up-lit palm fronds at night and the warm, gentle breeze that would blow the palms around causing the sound you love so much. I think you've returned to a paradise. Have a wonderful time there!

  13. What a beautiful view, Diana! What's not to be said for palm trees and warm breezes, doesn't get much better than that! It's so much better staying in a condo than a hotel, don't you think? Especially with a family. And you can sit there and dream that it is yours, AND, not have to get out of your pjs and put on makeup just for your morning cuppa joe! Enjoy the rest of your trip!!

  14. My late husband and I would visit Florida every year and then the last several years we took the 5th wheel and spent the winter.. We loved the sounds of birds and the sunshine of course.. It's so different than snow country where we come from.. Keep enjoying the little ones and the sun

  18. The few times we've gone to the beach these would be lined along the pathways - they are beautiful and do make a wonderful rustling sound - I love the sound of the leaves of the Raintree blowing in the wind - remarkable! My neighbor's Raintree fell - miss it a lot!
Hope you have a great day,
    Kathy

  23. Sounds like you are having a totally wonderful time.

I miss many sounds of Florida, most especially the screeching of the gulls while I am lying on the beach. That is a sound I never ever grow tired of.

Hope the rest of your stay there is abundantly blessed.

    Love,
    Patti
