The wind has turned cool here.
The sun doesn't warm the Earth
like it did a few short weeks ago.
Summer is almost gone..
and here comes Fall.
I love Fall-

I love Fall-
Absolutely LOVE IT..
But there is a kind of
"clench" that comes along
with it too.
But there is a kind of
"clench" that comes along
with it too.
Because it does spell the end
of summer days,
doesn't it?
I kind of mourn these days
that will soon be only a memory.
One more summer of little kids
that will be a bit bigger next year.

One more summer of little kids

We are remembering a few of
our family times at our
daughters this summer-
Baby E still in a high chair
and MyHero looking
rather dashing in his Panama~
I'm not sure WHAT he is grimacing about..
Probably thinking about the grass that
is going to need mowing when he gets home.
(Well-the laugh is on ME-Mimi just
wrote and told me that is NOT
MyHero-that is his brother, Steve-
Another FINE looking dude!-
I can't believe how much the look
alike now that they are this age!
At least I went home with the right one-
Score one point for my side);>)

And then here~at the
house on the bay.
What IS he up to?
Hmmm...
Now, I'm not saying my family
is LAZY but
who else do you know
that sits down to do this?
Oh! You're wondering what
THIS is?
Here's a hint....
It's in the sky and attached to a string.
Give up?
SweetCheeks is waiting patiently for her turn.
If you count patient as asking
over and over again
upwards of 100 times..
Iss it my tuhrn yet, Uncle MamasBoy?
And then there's Papa trying
to help Lulu find
The Perfect Stone.
Ahh..
The Perfect Stone
to skip across the water..
for the first time ever.
A bright space in time
for a little picnic for two
on their front lawn..
for one last summer dip.
The end of summer...
SOMEONE seems kind of
upset that summer is ending
and it is time to put the bathing suits away.
Soon it will be time to go here!
And the sad, pouty face
will soon be gone
as we busy ourselves
finding the perfect spot to
place our special pumpkin to
place our special pumpkin to
dress the house for Fall.
Fall? Is it Fall?
I can't wait!
What a lovely end to summer and all it's memories.

Wonderful...
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful post, beautiful photos,
ReplyDeleteGreat post! You have so many happy memories of summer & you'll have so many new memories to make for fall.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya..bitter sweet it is. Fall is so much fun though, and I bet just gorgeous there with all the color change. Love your recap of summer!
ReplyDeleteI'm a summer loving person, so I completely understand. We went for what was most likely our last swim Tuesday afternoon. We will most likely winterize the pool this weekend or next. And while I like fall, I LOVE summer. Even the 110 degree heat. But, fall has beautiful color. It's cooler and at least the grass is still green. It's that first freeze that makes the world look depressed and dead. Maybe it's winter I'm not fond of. But, Christmas is a winter holiday and I love Christmas.
ReplyDeleteJust goes to show you that every season offers something wonderful. But - I'm looking forward to next summer and season passes to the water park for me & my girls. :-)
The photo you have of "your HERO" is actually your hero's brother!!! Are you trying to tell us something? BWAhahahaahhahahaha
ReplyDeleteDonna, It was in the mid 40's this morning here. Summer is fun, ours has been so hot, that Autumn will be welcomed. Your family always seems to enjoy time together, that's great. Don't forget to get those sweetcheeks/pumpkin patch pictures :):) Smiles to all, Susie
ReplyDeleteSuch a bitter sweet post with Autumn being such an amazing time of year but saying goodbye to the carefree days of summer. This will be a good season, full of pumpkins, spices, magic, and delicious foods. I wish you the very best for Autumn!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the perfect end of summer kind of day!
ReplyDeleteYes, it is time to get ready for fall!
Blessings,
Janet
What a delightful look back at the summer! It went by too quickly, but alas, now it's time to jump into Fall. I like Fall, just don't care much for winter.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post, and that tree is quite colorful.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll tell you the story of the guy I almost hugged thinking it was my hubby, one of these days.
Great pictures Diana!!
ReplyDeleteI miss the fall colors, we don't get that here in Florida. I will be looking forward to more pictures from you of the beautiful colors.
Thanks for sharing!!!

I will miss summer, too, but it was extremely hot and dry this year. We are getting cooler this weekend, but still need rain. I do look forward to the crisp air and comfort foods.
ReplyDeleteMy Dear Diana! How I missed reading your humorous postings! They always put a smile in my heart! I am so happy to be back & reading all my favorite blogs & yours my dear is @ the top!

Each season has it's wonderful things to look forward to. The last couple of mornings have been cool here and I know fall is fast approaching but truth be told I am holding on to summer as long as I possibly can.
