Nana Has Some New Babies

Now maybe this wasn't
QUITE
what you were expecting...
but HEY
(they say Hey a LOT in WI)
So, Hey, I can be a Nana
in more ways than one!

This is a Spring decoration
that hangs in the side
door entryway.
It is one I made many
years ago!

Well, I DID
have a Welcome sign on
the front of it...

This is what happens
when you leave your
Spring decorations up
too long.
AND...you have a
WELCOME
sign on the front
by your side entry door.
WHAT is she guarding?
AHA!

MyHero is standing
on a chair to see
for himself what all the
fuss is about.

What is that?

What?
You can't really tell?
How about now?

Are they cute or what?
SweetCheeks got lifted up
earlier in the week for
a peek at the babies?
She asked me how
come they
"Poopted in theihr bed".
I told her she
"poopted in her bed when she was a baby too"
She did NOT think that
was funny.
You know what-
even though my
Spring decoration is
ruined because the
birds "poopted" on
the bunny's head~
I am
HAPPY
to welcome these babies.

For soon, soon,
they will be grown
and flown.

Just like my
REAL BABIES!
I'll enjoy them every moment
they're here~

  1. Aren't they sweet. I had a nest and babies last year on the front porch. So fun to watch and then they are gone so quickly just like our kids.

  5. So adorable, I looove how their Mommy found such a safe haven for her brood! They couldn't be any snuggier, if she'd tried! A great lesson on nature for your Grands too! Now, lets see if I can really leave you a message this time...(I've tried for days & days)! :( Debbie @ Cottage Hann~Me~Downs

  7. You just never know where a bird will choose to build a nest. But they are such fun to watch. And just as quickly as they came, they are gone again. Enjoy!

  9. They are precious...but they build their nests in the darndest places. I have a nest right outside my front door on the light fixture. The mommy darts away and leaves those little babies every time I do in and out. Now I use the back door, silly me!

    Jane

  10. What could be any more cushy than building your nest on top of a bunny's head. They are adorable.

  12. Well, that momma found a nice, cushy, "Welcome" place for her babies.. : )
We get some Robins every year on the back deck... so fun to watch...
Thanks for sharing them with us

  13. They are so sweet and that momma bird sure found the bestest place to keep her babies safe.
Tell SweetCheeks that when you are a baby, poop happens, and it just takes you a little while to figure out how to deal with it correctly.
Our momma's have their babies high up in the trees because we have kitties that would be in that nest so fast...just to play.
Sometimes they fall out during a bad storm and we find them the next morning. :(

  14. How cool! We had left the side door on the garage opened for a 24 hour period so the dog could go in and out when it was so hot. In that short time, a bird had flew in and out that door making a nest in our bucket! Unfortunately, we had to close the door and remove the mess before she laid her eggs! They are amazing in how they make those nests! Have a great week! We are hanging in there looking at trucks!

  16. Dear Diana,
You are truly one of the kindest, sweetest people I have met, in blogland and out. You are NANA of the year in my books.
I found a drink in a christian bookstore while I was visiting my son. It is called a frozen soy chai tea....tastes like drinking pumpkin pie...so yummy. You and sweet cheeks would have loved this store...it has big tables and a table full of games you can play. We spent about 2 hours in there playing Uno...it was a lot of fun...people just setting around reading papers...They had games for all ages. The birds are precious but messy but they are babies...this is the first year we did not have a bird build a nest on our front porch.
It makes my day when you stop by for a visit.
    hugs
    love

  18. I love the post! I have been battling birds for two days! We walk around a little pond ( 1 1/4 mile haha) and I try to get shots of the birds, swallows and herons and an assortment of birds I do not know yet. The second I get close they fly away! Buggers! This was so lovely. I am so happy to know you sweet lady. Enjoy the week.

  21. What a darling little story....I am sorry they poopted on your bunny's head, but now you will just have to make a new decoration once the family moves on....

  23. Sweet! We have babies, too. Ours are Purple Martins and they are in our covered entry right above our porch. They had their little fuzzy heads sticking up today and I took a picture, but from the angle of far below it is really not so pretty.

  27. How very precious and sweet the little birdies.
You are so right, they grow up so quickly and spread their wings and fly off. I have a nest by my back door and every spring the doves raise their families in the nest. I keep hoping it's the same family...one generation after another.
