It is COLD COLD COLD here.
What do you do on a cold day?

I decided to go through
some of my old magazines
and came across this one from
January/February of 2015,

Sadly, they are stopping publication
of the magazine.
I have all of them from the first
issue forward.
When I got rid of most of my old magazines
I just could not bear to part with them.
Romance is just kind of timeless,
isn't it?

February is all about Valentine's Day  but-
I don't think you have to wait for
Valentine's Day to make this for someone special.
 Pink Pearl Lady Cake
HERE is a similar recipe.

I thought the cover was just lovely.
Got your cake mess cleaned up from
baking that heart cake above?
Good!  Now then

And while your mouth is hanging open....

So-There you have it.
A few things I love in the
2015 January/February Issue of
Romantic Homes.

Know what else I love?
Thanks for following along here.
Here's how I am feeling about you this morning....
Lips still puckered up from the balloon blowing
are they?  Good!
Here's to you!

This is all above my paygrade. LOL I am on this old laptop enjoying catching up on the net, and evidently someone up there left the door open, cause we feel the cool air all the way down here to Florida.

Love from down in a chilly Florida also.

That is very sad they don't make that magazine anymore, it really has such beautiful photos and stories. Stay warm and safe Diana!!!

Its cold off and on here. Its like 20 degrees in the morning 45 to 50 in the afternoon then back down in the 20s after dark. Just crazy.
I love the first house photo with the white rustic look.

You keep yourself busy and warm. I think culling old magazines is a fun chore except that I always find myself all caught up in the first one and never get very far.

Chatty Crone said...

I have to be honest - I have not seen or remember that magazine. But those first couple of photos were beautiful - I could live in that rustic white and pink any day! Loved it. sandie

I whipped up that cake and now I'm having tea in that gorgeous living room in Florida! Now I am dreaming of Carolyn's home. Oh, I'm sad that magazine is not being published anymore...sigh. Great post sweet lady!

I don't know that I'm capable of making an exquisite Pink Pearl Heart Cake like that, but I do make heart-shaped pancakes for My Rare One on Valentines Day. Close enough!

That is a wonderful kiss at the end. Made my day complete! LOL. Love the magazine photos. That Florida house doesn't really look like my Florida house, but then again, I am not your typical Florida beach bunny kind of person. I live in the wild woods of Florida, the way Florida used to look before Disney took over and everything natural became artificial to attract more and more tourists. Old Florida was truly beautiful. Anyway, I enjoyed the magazine pictures. I hate to throw away magazines, but eventually they have to go. It's funny to look back at them from even a few years ago and see how things have changed. I hope you are staying nice and warm and cozy up there in the sub freezing deep freeze. Take care and God bless you all.

Beautiful homes, Diana. Bet they don't have wood chips dragged in from a load of oak for the stove. LOL Stay warm, friend. As soon as possible, stop in at Uncle Mikes for a pecan caramel kringler and eat it for me! xoxo

You put a smile on my face and a chuckle in my throat! We all needed this cheery post to warm our hearts even if our feet are cold (and yes, even here in Florida it's pretty cold right now).

So many magazines have come and go. I have actually seen old issues online for sale on occasion!

Stay warm I know it must be brutal. I get Romantic Homes magazine now. I have my latest issue on my coffee table, love it.

Love the kiss

It is definitely too cold where you are, but with such fun post you warm our hearts.

Oh, I really like this magazine. Sorry to hear it won't be around any more. The blue vase with the pink roses caught my eye, as I love blue in the home. And that cake looks Yummy. Haven't bought myself a new magazine lately - I think it's time. It sounds soooo cold where you live. I was talking with a friend today and she mentioned below 30 temps. I can't even imagine. Bundle up and stay cozy inside, Diana.

I think it’s cold everywhere. I can’t believe that we are in the single digits with 30 below windchill‘s and it’s going to be 50 on Sunday and Monday. It’s just crazy..Poor Mollie..The snow is too cold for her poor little feet. She’s having a tough time.At least the winds have died down .... you have fun with everything don’t you? Even old magazines. Fun post thAmos..hugs..stay warm

Blondie's Journal said... sad. I had a little blurb in the mag back in '13 and I have NO idea how they found me. It was so exciting. I think with all of the changes we go through in style---the trends, it will all come back around again. Maybe someday there will be a magazine called, "Decorating--every way and any way"!

Stay warm. Brutal here.

Let's not Monkey around then...
How do monkeys get down the stairs? They slide down the banana-ster!
What do you call a monkey that sells potato chips? A chipmunk.
What's black and dangerous and lives in a tree? A monkey with a machine gun. What kind of a key opens a banana? A monkey!
What do you call a monkey in a minefield? Baboom!

I have not checked out the links in your blog but I will as soon as I am done here. I used to love to get magazines but most of them are ads these days so I find most of my fun stuff on PINTEREST....I love that site. I love looking at those rooms on there. Course my home don't look like that, mine looks LIVED IN, and on some days...REALLY LIVED IN! HAHA...loving the lipsticked monkey. You know, I have always loved my makeup but I never got into lipstick. I tend to spend more time licking it off and I rather not have something that can't be removed on my lips all day long. Going to visit your links now...later and stay warm.

Thanks for sharing some warmth on a very cold day. We haven't made it above zero yet. Old magazines are wonderful to look through again and again.

I loved that magazine too. BTW the link to Carolyn Westbrooks goes to Between Naps On The Porch blog, not Carolyn Westbrooks.

Good Morning,
I was bummed to see Romantic Homes is closing out their magazine. That has been my favorite for years too. So sad to see it go. We are up to negative 24 and rising wooo hoooo! They said we could be in the 50's by Monday. This weather is just nuts. I am going crazy being stuck in the house and need to get out. So I am so glad the temps are beginning to rise. Have a good day.

Romantic Homes will certainly be missed by many. I don't have every issue like you do, but I have a whole lot of! I still look thru them all the time to get decorating ideas. hugs.....

Hi Friend,
I have been meaning to share with you, Sam has met a fella from Sturgeon Bay at Fort Gordon, they are both in the same class. They have had a blast talking Wisconsin together. They both will be in the National Guard together when they get back to Wisconsin in May.
Anyway.. they talk about Sonny's :-) thank you again for the tips for our trip last summer to Door County.

I used to read Romantic Homes all the time. I even wrote a piece for them once back when I was freelancing. It's too bad that so many print publications are ceasing publication. I'll look for this issue! Thanks for the heads up!

I subscribe to the magazine and had heard that they are going out of business. They will be missed. I used to keep ALL magazines that I read, but over the years it became hard to find room for them, so I just now keep Victoria. Although I am not as thrilled by them as I was when they just started back in the 80's. They went out of business also, for awhile, and when they came back they picked up all the "slick" stuff that seems to be around now and I don't like it that much. Country Living and Country Homes used to be great mags also until they picked up the new trend, now they are fewer pages and more advertising..Why can't things stay the same as the "old days". Well, guess you either have to join in or give up!!!..Happy Thursday..xxoJudy

These are all wonderful diversions for a cold and snowy day! I have heard they are folding and that made me so very sad. I miss my old favorites.

Since most of us don't or ever will live in a dream home like those, I always get ideas looking in the background at shelves, tables for little tricks I can use in my small Tree House. We can steal ideas can't we from the wealthy??

Start up your own magazine, you know you want to. I would buy it.

Kim said...

Ah...the end of romance...I don't like that. So many things I've loved are falling away lately. The times they are a-changing. Man, how did I get so old? ;)

Hi Diana! :) Oh what a romantically lovely post! That cake looks SO GOOD...I haven't yet attempted that kind of "frosting" on a cake! I love the look of that magazine too. I'll be making Valentine's special the way I do all holidays, with food and drink! :)

I remember this issue! I too, am a magazine hoarder, er, collector and Romantic Homes was my favorite! Before Pinterest, I'd tear out sections and place them into page protectors and into a binder for my inspiration book. I just ended up keeping entire issues because I loved everything! Lol! Sadly, I parted with most of my collection when we moved but held onto a few of my faves. Enjoy your stash!
