I'M BACK!!! YES! I AM!!!! Y'all got apples?

This time of year always
makes me a bit nostalgic.
It makes me long for my youth,
and remember those I loved.
There are songs that I find
particularly haunting.
Neil Diamond's
is one of them.
I am not putting the music
on here because I know
most people find background
songs annoying...
but if you get a chance
listen to the song when you can.

September brings out my
"rustic side".
I love picking
the perfect apple!
 and baking
 and making
Needs a sprinkle of cinnamon,
doesn't it?
All those things make me
a  little nostalgic but
what hits even deeper?

We have moved from
what was supposed to be our
"forever home".
We have downsized and
gotten rid of tons of stuff.
We still have a warehouse
to empty--sigh.

Life is full of changes,
isn't it?
Thanks be that I am one that
ROLLS with the PUNCHES
although sometimes I will
say I feel like
PUNCHING SOMEONETHING.
Can't you just hear your grandma saying,
"That's not ladylike" (or nice)...

If you promise to be very good
and not give
mean old Uncle Arthur
Ex-Lax in a Hershey's bar wrapper,
I will be back in a bit with
some pictures of the new place.
Yeah- Yeah- I promise!

Oh, I love anything apples this time of year, Diana, especially apple pie and caramel apples. I look forward to seeing a peek into your new place. And I love to hear songs on blogs if I like the choice of music, especially those old songs that we love and sometimes forget about. : ) I hope you're settling into your new house, and I know you will make this house a home in no time. You have a lot of creative ideas.

So glad that your “forever” house is still in the family so you can be there when you want. I know you to be creative and capable of creating a home under a bridge, but don’t test me in that! Looking forward to seeing your new digs. 🌻🏡🌻 (No, no, that’s terribly wrong. Giant sunflowers?! )

It's lovely to see a post from you in my feed. Moving is always hard. It takes awhile to make oneself comfortable in a new space, I find. I hope it goes well for you. Looking forward to seeing photos of the new place.

Ah good to see the post. Love the picture of Apples. I have loved apples from childhood and from green to ripe (and hard). I love one that cracks when bitten.I like the pie and sauce, but I normally eat one every night. We are in Del Rio and only see ripe oranges hanging.
Glad you are back...

Yes, I have apples! Just got a bag at the farmers market yesterday. I'll be making apple cake and applesauce with them. Glad the move is done and I'll be looking forward to pictures ! September is a very nostalgic time for me too. Many fond memories of happy days in the past.

Glad you got moved, and back on-line.

The apples remind me of when my oldest brother and I were 5 and 6, living in Washington state. That was the first, and last time we saw such glorious apples on the trees. It's funny how we can remember back then, and now (me) can't remember what I had for dinner last night.

xoxo

Oh you moved! Wow...that would be an adventure in itself for me! I have the hardest time letting go of stuff....I get attached to it so easy. Congrats on the move. Yes, like you I hope Fall brings all its glory and color and I hope it hangs around for a long time. It is my fave time of the yr but I wished it could last as long or even half as long as summer and winter! Just not sure how that would work with the leaves falling...haha.

Dewena said...

Oh yeah, Neil, a September morning makes me feel that way too!

How exciting, Diana, but I know from experience how utterly exhausting moving is. I won't repeat what others told me, to pace myself, because I know you're probably not going to stop until it's done, except for falling in bed each night. Have fun nesting!

Kay G. said...

All of your experiences can just go into another book! Eat some apples, I bet you get good ones where you are. Hugs to you!

Glad all is well with you and family. The only way I will ever move again, is when they haul me off. Moving is hard job. A good crisp apple is good for us.

Glad to see you back. I would like just once to see an apple or cherry tree loaded with fruit there for me to pick! Or for someone to make me an apple or cherry crisp! Xoxo 😘

Hi Diana, I am glad that you are back and that you got moved into your new place. It is hard to downsize but I know where you are coming from. You have been through so much with the loving care you have given to your other half and your grandchildren. I saved a picture on my page of a little girl that reminded me so much of bright eyes. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love all of the colors. Take care. Hugs and prayers from your Missouri Friend Shirley

Welcome back, lovely lady! I can't wait to see pictures of your darling new home.

This time of year is always delightful. I have been baking all kinds of apple goodies...apple butter pie, apple tarts, apple fritter bread, and 2 batches of sweet apple butter. Mmmmm... :)

Love and hugs to you!

Hi Diana, great to hear from you since moving.

I love fall too. It brings back memories for me too. I love being able to nest, cook and bake. Now if the humidity would leave I would be happier. It has been here the entire summer.

I know that song very well. My dad is a huge Neil Diamond fan and played him all the time.

Enjoy the rest of your day

Oh my goodness, I love the photos and can almost smell that apple pie. I know it's been a real adjustment you've had in recent years and yet God has given you the ability to 'roll with the punches' - truly. You have learned to do what had to be done and I'm so proud of you for that, Diana. God bless you. xoxo P.S. I can't tell you how many times my mom said, 'Judy, that's not ladylike.' I got so sick of hearing that and how another girl in my SS class was always such a lady. It's a wonder I didn't put arsenic in her Coke.

I sort of want to throw a rotten apple at you Di because now I have Neil Diamond's songs playing over and over in my head. Kind of like Abba after I saw Mama Mia 2 recently. You can make it up to me by coming back soon with those photos of the new place...

So happy you made it to the new house in one piece, and you didn't really punch anyone, right? I have moved many times, and I KNOW how that feels. We are considering doing the same thing...downsizing, but I cannot get up the courage to make the call to list our house. Just can't seem to let go yet...but it is definitely in my mind to do...now I just need someone to kick me in the pants and get me going. It will be painful...I have way too much stuff...but it is beginning to overwhelm me and that tells me it is time to move. Praying that you will soon be enjoying your new home so much you won't even miss the old one a bit. Love apples and apple pie and applesauce. My favorite things in September/October. Wish I could pick some apples, but they don't grow on trees in Florida! Pick a few for me, ok? Enjoyed this. Looking forward to the pictures.

Apple season is here. Pies are my absolute favorite, I can't resist a good homemade apple pie. For breaksfast I always cut up an apple to have in it. Welcome back Diana and have a wonderful weekend.

I too have moved so many times and I know how it feels. We were going sell our house two years ago but I was plagued with several health issues and had to put it off. Now, we have decided to stay for a few more years. Apartments are extremely pricey here right now so we're staying put. September is when I start getting the urge to bake!
And I always have Christmas on my mind too. Shortly I will start my list of goodies to bake for the holidays. It will be especially fun this year because some of my family will be home to celebrate with us. Family always makes the holidays more special. Great post and have a wonderful weekend, Diana.

Oh, how I long for FALL! It's still in the upper 90s here and I am soooo over hot weather. Looking forward to boots, long sleeves, sweaters, & scarves:) We have been in the little house we built about 40 years ago, but I know that a move is probably in our future. How I dread that! But the stairs will probably get to be too much for us. But I'm going to be like Scarlet O'Hara and "worry about that tomorrow." Love the thoughts of apple picking and apple pie. Come on FALL...we're ready!

As we age, I find it harder and harder to accept many of the changes that come our way. My hubby is more tolerant about this than I am.
Love apple pie...especially home made!
We have apple trees in our backyard and the deer love this. The fawns tend to go to our crab-apple trees to eat the smaller apples.
I am looking forward to visiting your lovely blog often~

Downsizing is so hard. We did it three years ago, and I'm glad we did, but still, the memory-heavy stuff is what is the hardest to let go of. Will look forward to seeing pictures of your new place soon... I know it takes a while to get it feeling like home again :) Blessings and hugs!
