A Few Fall Things And A Glowing Burlap Tree

Well, here I am again with things
that I cut out of magazines
over the years.
My own personal Pinterest!

I have NO idea what the source
these outside ideas came from
so I can't reference them.

I LOVE this.
Here's the funny thing-
I hung a lit pumpkin like this from a
 Shepherd's Hook
in our backyard.
I thought I was SO CLEVER.
Well, that cleverness must have come by osmosis
because I found that in my
Book Of Ideas
two weeks after the "hanging"!
At night it is very eerie because
the wind moves it and it looks
like it is floating.
Scared the beans out of someone I know.

I think the urn under it is just gorgeous!
I need to put something like that together.
The green urn looks great for the base, doesn't it?

Crazy about this idea for a birdbath!
I can't tell you how many ideas I have copied
over the years.
Are there really ANY new ideas?
Or am I the only copy cat out there?
You know I  just sit around
and eat Twinkies and wait
for others to come up with ideas
for me to steal use, right?

How about some glowing
for your porch?
This says to use a topiary frame but I think
it would work with a
tomato cage tied together at the top.
I'm not sure what the little "balls"
are but they look like burdock(?)
to me.  It doesn't say what they are.
Here's the directions.
 Speaking of glowing.....
How about getting a little glow on
INSIDE the house?
Oh- Wait-That looks like soda pop
to me!
Maybe you'd care for some of this instead?

As for me?
I'll be warming up with a
sugarless Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Thank you very much!!!!

OH the ideas are just endless! sometimes I just get idea and inspiration overload and cant function at all! lol!
I love the hanging pumpkin idea.. hmmm... I have a lot of shepards hooks outside, basically holding up dead plants! lol!
have a great day!

What clever ideas! I am not one to pass up somebody else's good idea. Since I never have exactly the same things the picture has, it is still my own.

I LOVE the idea of the jack-o-lantern on the shepherd's hook! I might try that for next year! I did stick a pumpkin on the birdbath in front of our house, but what a great idea to hollow it out and use it as a planter for mums or fall flowers. There are so many seriously creative people in this world (sigh)... How I wish I were one of them!
Thanks for visiting my foggy cemetery walk! Happy Halloween!!!

I do love Pinterest, but I'm still cutting up magazines too! Love your inspiration, especially the pumpkin in the birdbath! I'm pinning it - ha!

Diana, I think even I could do the cage tree.:):) I liked it a lot. it could become a seasonal thing, by changing the ornament thingys on the outside. I have copied from magazines for years. But I have to say since blogging, I have learned you do not really have to throw anything away...if you got yourself some paint. LOL xoxox, Susie

Kelly said...

You and I have something in common. I have a binder full of magazine clippings of inspirational things and rooms too! I still save them today even though Pinterest is all the rage! LOL! I love the ideas you saved. So many great ones. It's fun to see the oldie but goodies too.

I think decorating ideas come back around again, Diana. I know I often see things that are popular now that I saw back in the 80's. I love the bird bath idea. I had a bird bath just like the one in the picture at our old house, in a garden bed in the front that I had started adding plants to. This would have been a great idea for Fall.

Love all of these Diana... I think those might be horse chestnut pods on the little topiary light thingy... enjoy your pumpkin spice latte... yum!... xoxo Julie Marie

My son is now manager of Starbucks I'll have to ask him about your favorite and how it sells here in Pa. I'll let you know!
Have a great weekend!

Did you know they have glow in the dark pain now - spray that pumpkin with it and let it blow in the wind at night.

Just looking today at my Women's Day Halloween Issue and they have a lot of pretty things like you do in it.

If I had the money and time I'd have a big party and invite everyone!

The things on the burlap tree look like what we southerners call Sweet Gum Balls. One friend called the tree a golden rain tree, because of the sap that drips. We call them a pain when the balls fall off the trees and we step on them.
I've seen the balls spray painted and used for ornaments on several things.

There is nothing new under the sun; however, everyone's interpretation makes it fresh all over again. That birdbath idea is great!

Ron said...

Great pics, Diana! Yep, no soda pop in my pumpkin please!!!! xo

Hi Diana,
Good Morning. Love the soda pop in the pumpkin how fun. I love the birdbath idea too. All of these ideas are really cute.

My Garden Diaries said...

That is great!!! I never thought that they would look as though they are floating!! Too funny! And I am not sure that there is anything new out there...just different interpretations of things I suppose!! Love this inspiration and I LOVE that urn!!! Happy day lady!

Mary@mydogsmygardenandmary said...

Great ideas Diana. I think the little balls are from a tree - I see them in the park. I'm not real savvy on trees. I like the tomato cages to make a tree.
Have a lot of fun with those sweet girls - will be looking forward to seeing their costumes.

Hi there, Love your ideas and the fact that you started this before there was every Pinterest. I used to keep ideas from Magazines but they started to accumulate and got outdated so I threw them out.
Hope you have a great day.
Hugs, Noreen

Great ideas. I really do think they come full circle. A lot of what I see on Pinterest and Blogs I have seen for years, or even did myself years ago...we just didn't have a way of getting it out there. LOL That latte is calling my name!

The birdbath idea is my favorite, but the burlap tree? I bet I'd light that sucker on fire and burn down the neighborhood! :/

Hi Diana: I love to do the same thing. Pinerest can keep me for hours. Love the tree idea. Have a great week. Blessings, Martha

You and I do the same thing Diana. I have so many magazine pages in my files of idea that I just had to keep. In fact I was just going through them a couple of nights ago. I love seeing things that meant something to me years ago.
These photos you shared are awesome Halloween ideas.
hugs from here...

Diana, I have binders of pictures I've clipped from mags over the years! Yours are great inspiration-love the idea of pumpkin as a 'drink station'! I've never seen that one before!:)

These are fabulous ideas! I love the birdbath and the burlap tree! Let me send you a truck load of Sweet Gum balls for your burlap! Those little balls will bite you! They come through flip flops too. Remember last year when you were sending me a tractor trailer truck load of snow? You know I love ya and am just kidding! :)

Cool ideas! You know, that burlap over the topiary frame would work really well for Christmas with green or red burlap! The hanging pumpkin is net and the urn is gorgeous! Hugs, Leena

Donna said...

Great ideas, Diana! I especially love the pumpkin in the birdbath. Those prickly little things that you called burdocks are actually from the sweet gum tree. I used to collect them for crafting, but they are so prickly, like sharp pins!!

wow, look at that nose! My dad used to say if he had that nose full of nickels he'd be a rich man...
I have notebooks of articles I cut out of magazines too, including recipes and ideas for decor. Funny, we started out own pinterest back in the day! I think we were pretty darn creative then. We also had more time to sit and look at magazines, something I rarely do anymore.

I have a ton of books I made filled with ideas I tore out of magazines.

Now I have Pinterest.

I love the pumpkin filled with sodas - so fun!

I like the idea of the 'floating' Jack-O-Lanterns, they must look very spooky.
I also like the bottle chiller, but not for soda!

Cristina Garay said...

I also have lots of magazine clippings. I haven't had the time to check them in a long time :(
Love the pumpkin ice bucket ;)
