WHEN-WHAT-WHERE--Anna Ireland Vintage Etsy Shop

Happy Sunday, People!

I had hoped to be able to
OPEN MY ETSY SHOP
this weekend.

However,
I came down with a nasty sinus infection
(me-that NEVER gets sick)
and am on some heavy-duty antibiotics
to try to get rid of it.

I am resistant to medicines
also-chocolate, lemon-meringue pie,
suggestions from MyHero, etc.
so I get the
BIG GUN MEDS
and orders to
"take it easy".
I know- I am laughing, too.
Take it easy to me means --
I only work 8 hours instead of 16.

So- I will give you a
WEE PREVIEW
of my upcoming Etsy shop.
(said with an Irish accent).
The shop is called
ANNA IRELAND VINTAGE.
Going back and forth over which banner to use--
Feel free to tell me your favorite.....

I thought I would give you a little teaser.
I won't have a ton of hand-made stuff
this go-round.
I am just trying to 'clean house'
and let a few things go.
My prices are going to be very reasonable...
if you want to bargain on something
after I open
let me know.
I will put a few things on my blog, too,
that don't meet the Etsy guidlines for some reason
(age of item, etc.)

So- there you have it....
Like I said- shop is
NOT OPEN YET
but I am now working towards next weekend.

Here's your STORY for the day.
Night before last my son, Mama'sBoy (CJK's daddy)
called me just before 10pm.
I was in bed watching the news.
MB:  Mom!  How would you like to drive down to Indiana with me tonight?  We will pick something up and turn right around.  In 12 hours we can make a round trip and end up right back where we started.
Me:  Great- When?
MB:I thought we could leave in about 30 minutes.
Me:  Okay-I'll be there.
MB:Bring your car to my house-we'll go from here.
Me:  Okay.
MyHero:  YOU HAVE A SINUS INFECTION!
WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? YOU'LL BE SICK.
Me:  I'm already sick.
MyHero: JUST TELL HIM--NO!!!
Me:  NO!
MyHero:  FINE!  Suit yourself.
Me:(sweetly)-Thank you!
MyHero:Disgustedly-Fine! I'm going to bed.
Me:  I'm going for a drive-See you in the morning.
MyHero:  No response-Bedroom door shutting.

We drove round trip to my daughter's house
with a TRAILER to pick up a motorcycle.
We talked and laughed non-stop all the way.
I could not believe it when we pulled into Mimi's house at 4:30am (our time).
She had left the back door unlocked-
Like two thieves in the night-
we stole into the garage,
rolled that baby out of the garage,
secured it on the trailer
and headed home.
It is a specialized bike-
not many of them around-made in WI
by a retired racer.
Looks something like this.
He better give me a ride on that sucker!

I did not sleep at all on the trip.
So, we were both a little slap happy after
about 10 hours on the road.
I drove while Mama's Boy
rested for a couple of hours.
We got home, unhooked the trailer
and headed for a family get together
in Door County.
Ryan looked pretty good.
I looked like death warmed over.
(minus the owl and pretty outfit)
On the way back we were talking and wondered
how many moms at this age would jump
into a truck to drive 12 hours
in the middle of the night
with something planned for the next day....
My sweet daughter-in-love says that I am
"an enabler".
Lord love her-ya know she is gonna do
the same thing someday with her
'little boy'....she'll see...

I told him I should get the
OLD MOM OF THE YEAR AWARD.
I would also like a PIN to accompany that
just so I could wear it proudly
wherever I go.
I wonder how many moms have
FUN with their adult kids?
I know that I am blessed and lucky
to have these relationships!

Have a wonderful Sunday.
I will be working on my Etsy stuff this week
AND
I have a Pumpkin Patch story coming up soon.

Oh my goodness! There's no keeping you down is there? I would not be keen on doing that because I don't like long road trips and treasure my sleep. More especially if I was already sick. However, I do have a wonderful relationship with my adult son. We are very much alike in our thoughts so we often laugh at the same things and have similar outlooks in life. So, that helps bridge the age gap. I'm still waiting on my 15 yr old son to mature and want to spend time with me. So, the jury is still out there. ha! He's at the age where I'll catch him rolling his eyes at me. Your Etsy shop will be so nice! I am looking forward to seeing what you will be selling.

Good heavens! My son knows me well enough not to bother asking. Wait, I know him so well that I know I don't ever have to worry about his asking. Glad that you had fun! Memory building. Course there are easier ways...I'll be visiting with my son at a soccer game in an hour. I'll be wrapped in a blanket and probably too cold to talk. Feel better soon! We want to see you riding that bike!

You have more energy than almost anyone I know! How fun to take an overnight trip with your son like that! Yes, you definitely deserve the Mother of the Year award. :) It's so nice when our kids get older and we can have fun relationships with them. Your Etsy shop is going to be fab! Looks like you have a lot of goodies! I like the top banner the best, but they're both good ones. Love the sweet pic!

Oh Diana, love the pic of you with the owl on your arm! ;-) You are a good mommy and since laughter is the best medicine, maybe you'll be feeling back to your old self soon. Can't wait to see what you have to sell. I've only ever bought one thing on Etsy.

Hey, life is short...grab every minute to be with loved ones and enjoy the fun and laughter! Hope you feel better quickly my friend ~

You get an A++...
I couldn't have done it. I am so impressed right now, and with a sinus infection. Wow.
It is so cool though that you had a chance to "play" and chat and be with your son. Those are memories of a lifetime. Good for you!

You really made me laugh my friend ! I'm not to good with long road trips, so I don't think so, lol..
Hope you get better soon. Me too, I never get sick, but I had such a bad throat ad a runny nouse of all the dust I sniffed from the cleaning craze I went into in this house, after the remodel of the guest rooms.
The best part of it all it seems you spent time with your dearest boy and enjoyed it too !
Have a good week coming up sweet friend.

Alone time with a kid on a car trip us great time ... time that is rare or nonexistent when your kids grow up. The trip sounds perfect!

Diana, When you go down hwy 31 thru Tipton County...honk, I'll hear you. LOL. Yes, you deserve a ride on that bike. I think you going along kept your son from getting to sleepy to drive. I probably would have done the same. I like the little Irish dress photo with baby holding her doll. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

So, were you a bit of a biker chick in a previous life? As someone who usually gets about two sinus infections a year, I know that you can do all sorts of things while congested with a red hot face! I think there is something about moms and their sons. -Jenn

Well, truth be told, Diana, I would have done the same thing!! Like last week (sick with a bad cold, cough...finished trimming the garden bed on hands and knees) I got a speech too...but hey, my ears were clogged!!...:)JP

I don't know how you stayed awake. I would have been a goner.

The things we do for our kids! Isn't it wonderful that our children like to hang out with us! I would make the trip, too, except the night driving might not happen. I'm getting too old for that...well, maybe on a 2 lane road, but busy interstates with all the lights bother my eyes.
I'm writing this in Branson while waiting for Mr. Excitement (haha!) to wake up from his nap so we can go to dinner. We have been here enjoying a little fall getaway, so I've not been blogging again for awhile. I'll catch up after tomorrow when we get back home. (Pout...I'm not ready to go back! But he thinks he needs to to work.)
Hope you get over that sinus infection quickly!! xo Cheryl

You definitely deserve an award! So sorry you are feeling bad. TRY to take care of yourself and feel better soon. Seeing your thread spools reminds me so much of my grandmother...she was a seamstress back in the 1950/60's.
God bless you!

Stephanie said...

Oh no, sorry about your sinus infection! I hpoe you are feeling much better soon.

I just love some of the things you will be putting in your shop. The spools and lace...be still my heart! And the Mountain Dew jug is fabulous! My dad loves his Mountain Dew. When I was a teen he and I used to do ski and snowboard racing that was sponsered by Mountain Dew.

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip with your son :) What a blessing to be able to spend time with him. Have a great Monday! Hugs!

Lol!!!! Aren't you the wild one? I would totally do it, too. I have that kind of relationship with my youngest. My oldest just doesn't play like her little sister.

Diana, Since I had daughters they'd never ask me to do that; you are such an incredible mom to join him, while being sick. You sure that infection didn't go to your head-just kidding. Hope you are kicking it to the curb and feeling better.
Sending hugs and giggles your way.

Mamas do much for their children, crazy things sometimes! Your son will always remember the middle of the night ride. Hope the infection goes away and you feel back to normal soon.

Kathy said...

What a mom you are. That's crazy driving all that way at a moment's notice to get a bike. With something going on the next day yet! I hope you eventually got a good sleep in there. I couldn't do that. You are a wonder.

Good luck with your etsy shop. I like the top banner best. And save that Cherry Ames book for me. I collect them and that's one I don't have.

I can imagine your doing this! I think it's great- sounds like fun! You are not only mom of the year, but grandma of the year and wife of the year! I can be spontaneous but that might be a bit much for me! Best wishes for a successful Etsy shop.

Let's see, one morning about 4 am, my son picked me up from the hospital. He had an open air jeep and I was wearing a robe, fun story it would be if I were to share it! LOL!! Adult kids are the greatest! Sending prayers for healing to you! Blessings, Cindy xo

Hi Diana, So hope you get to feeling better real soon. Love the shop name and the first banner too. Can't wait to see your items. What fun you and your son had on your little adventure. I love it and it reminds me of my son and I!!
Our kids become one of us when they grow up and become adults. Best wishes on the shop and take good care of yourself. Get some rest!!! xoxo

Yep, you sure do deserve an award, Diana! What a sport you were to not only drive all that way, but at the last minute, and sick to boot! Hope you are feeling better soon. Can't wait to see your new shop! I like the first banner the best. If you end up going with the second, I would suggest leaving out the "Etsy shop" at the end. People already know they are shopping on Etsy when they find you, so I think it is kind of unnecessary. Just my opinion:)!

Donna said...

PS: I'm surprised you didn't ride the motorcycle all the way back to WI!!!!!

Such an inspiring story, Diana! I have to admit that I'm one of those Mother's that wouldn't turn down any opportunity to spend with her kids either. I bet your son knew you would say yes before he even ask you! I'm pretty sure I would never be able to stay awake though...
I like the first, older picture of Anna for your Etsy Shop.

I get accused of doing too much for my kids too.. but I would have it no other way. have a great week my friend! xoxoxo

Forget selling vintage, just bottle up that energy and sell it. I will be first in line. I already have my money out of my pocket. Don'y worry, I picked the lint and old kleenex off of it. Congrats on getting your shop up and running. I am getting ready to close mine down for three months and I am looking at other options. I may attach a shop to my blog. Gives me more control. Now, GET SOME REST. xo Laura

I would totally do that with my kids...because my mom used to do that stuff with/ for me!! What goes around, right? I miss the fact that my mom isn't able to do that kind of stuff anymore. It's a bummer, but I have lots of super memories with her and I know your kids will, too. AND I bet the trip and time together did more for your immune system than any old drugs could. Feel good! xoxo

How fun Diana. I would do the exact same thing with my daughters. I bet the hours in the car felt like nothing with Ryan keeping you entertained. That bike is beautiful. What a great treasure for Ryan to own. I cannot wait to see the shop open up when you feel better. I like both the banners for the shop but I think the first one show more of your sweet grands personality. Take care and get some rest.

OK, I better have first dibs on your stuff hehehe. I would definitely used the first banner, so cute of little Bright Eyes. She looks like a wee Irish lass there hehehe. I can't wait to see all the goodies in your shop. That is really something that you drove all that way to pick up the motorcycle. There's not much that I wouldn't do for my kids, and I'll let you in on a secret when you e-mail me. :)
