Thank Our Everyday Heroes

Good Morning!

I am volunteering at the VA
this morning.

There are some very dear soldiers
that come through those doors.
Some make me smile,
some make me laugh,
some make me want to cry.

I have had 2 marriage proposals-
and one proposition....lol....
in the short time I have been there.
Should I mention that all three
were visually impaired?

I'm not sure if you've seen this
TATTOO
that is posted below
It is floating around the internet .
It touched me.
It touches me more now that I see
VETERANS
every week.

Take a moment today
and, if you see a veteran
when you are out and about,
step up them, shake their hand,
and tell them
THANK YOU!
You'll be glad you did.

And here you thought I was
always funny!

Tomorrow I WILL be funny-

Jilda works with the military in her job and it's her favorite part.
Some of the stories she hears are heart wrenching.
I love that tattoo.

What a good egg you are Diana. I'm certain that even though your suitors were visually impaired, that they heard from their buddies what a hottie you are!

That's an awesome tattoo! You are funny- I'm not surprised you are getting offers to marry by these men (visually impaired or not!).

You nut! Even if those men can't see you well, I'm sure your wonderful personality is quite alluring to them! And that tattoo is THE coolest one I've ever seen. EVER.

Enjoy your time at the VA today, my friend! And rest every chance you get!

I always thank men/women in uniform, for their service. But don't know all the Veterans, whom I pass. I would thank them also, if known...

And hey Hon, you do not have to be witty, every single day. 'Tis still your blog. You can be whatever mood you happen to be, any day.

That's "written in stone" somewhere. Just forget where. ,-)

God bless you Diana! Freedom isn't free, and I support our military 100% . . . even though I don't always agree with where and when our government sends them. But I support our troops completely!!! A strong military is so important to the security of our nation. Have a great day!!!!

Bless you for volunteering, Diana. I would be in tears half the time around those veterans. I know you must truly make their day! And is that YOUR new tattoo?:)

Love this post, truly. After Mom gets her knee replaced and she can do cartwheels again, ahem, I'll encourage her to volunteer at the VA. She used to be the assistant chief of personnel there... If her skirt's not zipped or her tops not buttoned right, I'll correct her and she'll say, "How else do you expect me to get a boyfriend?" Maybe she can a slew of them as a volunteer at the VA!

Hugs for Holy Week, grateful for so many who paid a price for my freedom,
Kelley~

I have not seen that tattoo but it is amazing (for a tattoo). I know the veterans so appreciate your volunteering and I'm sure your humor! Tell hubby he better watch out - those proposals are probably for real to them. Thanks for what you do.

I've come a long way on my view of tattoos ( actually thought of 3 little flowers somewhere where no one would see them lol - to represent my kids)
The one above is the most beautiful thing, really !

I am so glad that you do what you do. That tattoo is amazing for a tattoo. I don't think I could do that, the volunteer there. I had such a rough time when my son was overseas for two tours. I just feel so bad for these injured vets. We really need to take care of them. Hugs

Debbie said...

Wow...what a great tattoo that is, Diana!
I just know that you are a blessing to the people you work with at the VA facility, Diana. God chose this position just for you! so you would be there just for them!
Happy Easter Week, dear friend.

A wonderful tribute to those that give so much for our safety. I have never seen this sight of soldiers that looks like a leaf. Well done my friend.

Hi Diana, wonderful post to honor those that have sacrificed so much for our freedom. I do thank a Vet when I see them and my hubby always gives his seat on an airplane if he is flying first class and a military guy boards.
Your work at the VA is a blessing to so many.
Wishing you a nice evening.
Hugs, CM

That is great you are volunteering at the VA. My husband attends a meeting every other week at the Vet Center. A lot of good guys in his group.

I volunteer at a community service/food bank in my town. Many of the clients are veterans from the many wars we have been involved with. It is heartbreaking at times, but to be able to help them is so rewarding. I have had 7 jobs in my life and this one is the best by far.

It is very nice to meet you and I am now a follower.

Good of you to volunteer at the VA. Hubs started getting benefits from VIETNAM just a year ago. He always speak how well they treat them...i sure hope so with everything that recently been revealed. I never seen the tattoo before but it is really cool. Keep up the good work and hopefully you get propositioned from someone who doesn't have impaired eye sight!

The way you make us laugh here... most certainly I know (even though I've never met you) that you light up the lives of those who have given so much! May the Lord continue to bless what you do!!! And a wonderful reminder to be thankful for the precious freedom that we enjoy!
