The Living Room of Chateau de Ledgeview

I worked outside most of the day yesterday
so this will be short and sweet.

This was taken in the formal living room
of my daughter's new house.
None of the first floor rooms are really DONE yet.
Everything is a bit haphazard but she let me
take some pictures anyway.

This is the fireplace.
It still needs a trim piece around the edge
and the inside needs to be blackened
and it needs a screen.
Here is the before:
Sorry - BAD picture.
My son-in-law pumped up the molding and
refaced the brick and hearth.
Here is the living room before-
The window to the left
faces towards the front of the house-
Here it is with the furniture in-
Not finished and not decorated but 100% improvement.
They put in new hardwood floors.
My daughter got these couches
when she was single
Didn't she have good taste
even in her early 20's?

That is Grandmother Clara's grand piano
in the back.
She was a pianist that traveled all over the country
before she married.

So----That's about it for today.
I will show you more of this room
when it gets pulled together.
She is recovering the leopard pillows
and bringing her pictures in this week.

If I can get my act together I will show you the kitchen tomorrow.
It was the most changed of anything.
You won't BELIEVE how it turned out!

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Diana, It's going to so beautiful, from what I can tell my what you have shown us. I love that they have the grandmother's piano. If I had the room, I would have a piano whether I could play it or not. :):) Take care, xoxo,Susie

Absolutely GORGEOUS! I'm also amazed at how clean/fresh those light sofas look too. I'm afraid Miss Josie would have left her marks all over them by now. I can't wait to see more. The kitchen sounds fabulous!

A wonderful formal room. Your son-in-law did a beautiful job with the moldings and resurfacing. Hard wood floors are perfection in that room. And space for a grand piano? Be still my heart!

Such big improvements! I've always thought the arrangement of two sofas opposite each other with a fireplace at the end was the end-all, be-all in what a home should be! Such a classic and cozy look that I adore!

when I first saw the room I was thinking those two sofas would be perfect for me. Can't believe they are older. Good taste yes...wish I'd been smarter about some purchases I made.

oh my what a transformation and the fireplace looks much, much better.

Patty Patterson said...

So pretty! I can't imagine a sofa that is really used lasting 14 years. We wear ours out. But, I let the kids jump on the furniture, too. And they eat in the living room. But, that's okay - I like a change every once in awhile, so I'll just keep getting new furniture every 8-10 years or so. However - if it was going to last longer, maybe I could actually decorate a room and just leave it? You've got me thinking.

Very pretty!!! I can tell it's going to be gorgeous when she gets done. Love the fireplace! And yes she had good taste even 20 years ago. Must be in the genes... :)
