Back To Reality And Decorating For Christmas

After spending last week at the hospital
I told hubby and my oldest son that if they
would carry SOME stuff up for me I would
maybe start decorating for the Holidays.

What's the old saying?
Ask and ye shall receive?
Well, I think
THE BOYS- or-
Itch and Scratch, as I like to refer to them,
brought almost the whole basement
up the steps.

If you are looking for pretty pictures
you aren't going to get any here today.
THIS is what my hall, kitchen, dining room
and family room looks like.
I DID get the tree up and the lights put on
but by the time I was done and took a picture
the lights looked like this.
And NO- I WAS NOT DRINKING!
I don't know HOW I took that picture
but I kind of like it.

So, if you are good and promise not to
eat the last cookie
and swear there weren't any left anyway
not that I would know anything about
doing something like that
tomorrow I MIGHT show you some
Christmas decorations at my house.
Either that or I will show you
MyHero sleeping with his new best friend.
Did you notice they have matching
sleep masks?
One of these days I am REALLY gonna get
paid back for stuff like this...

ps. Bear with me as I play catch up.
I will be around to visit you as I can.

OMG you are just too funny, I enjoy your posts so much! I think Itch and Scratch were happy to help out considering what had been going on all week. I still can't believe the change in your little guy in such a short time once they knew what to do. The pictures of the lights looks really cool, whatever you did you did good! Have fun decorating!

After spending a week at the hospital I'm sure you're anxious to get back to some kind of normal. You'll have your home decorated and cheery in no time with the help of Itch and Scratch. :) I always love your sense of humor...you're a sweetheart!

I can see you now ... all pent up and ready to get commence the decorating! That's a LOT of boxes.

So glad things are a bit "back to normal". You are a riot!! Can't wait to see your home decorated.

Just getting round to visiting again myself, Diana. After my back went on Friday {although, it was when I was putting bins back in the attic, so that's the good part}, I've been delayed in finishing up. Just those little things and a few things outside.

Ok. I spit out my coffee laughing at that last sleep mask picture. You seriously need to warn us. Have a wonderful time decorating. You've earned some fun!!

I'm just glad that you are getting to catch up and that you're no longer needed at the hospital! I should be going, soon, though. Weston was due YESTERDAY so we should be having a baby any time.

I'd say that you should not worry about visiting me, but you are so speedy that you've done so already. No, you were in big-time reality last week. This will be fun...I hope...and if not, you're not doing it right. Now that was some serious bokeh! It would make an amazing background on a collage.

Diana, so happy to have your life returning to normal, I missed your funnies... Your home looks like mine did yesterday... can't wait to see how it turns out!

How you have energy to tackle decorating at this point is amazing! I am moving rather slowly at getting it done around here.:-) xo Nellie

I cannot wait to see the finished product, Diana! I hate to live in a state of unorganized chaos. Tis the season!!!! xo

Buwahahahaha. That's what my living room has looked like all week. :) I'm slowly getting empty totes back up to the attic. It officially looks like Santa threw up in my house.

I can't tell you how pleased I am that "little man" is doing so much better that you have decorating on your mind. God is so good.

Oh my gosh, Diana, that last shot is hilarious! Maybe you could make it into your Christmas card! So glad to see you back, and so glad to hear that your sweet little CJK is on the road to good health! To think that I have been feeling bent out of shape from the 5 Christmas tubs in our living room, well, now I don't feel so bad!!

Jettie said...

Now tell itch and scratch to carry the rest back down until the holidays are over, then back up, so they can undoo the decorating, and to neatly put it all back in the boxes. Yeah right, that ain't gonna happen, is it?

So glad things are getting back to normal! And my house looks just like that at the moment. I could use a few little elves! ... And your handsome hubby is such a good sport! Or maybe he just doesn't read your blog - ha! ... Have a happy day Diana!

Haha I am late on a lot of my decorating too. And I didn't have nearly the stress you had going. It'll get done. So happy things worked out in time for you all to enjoy the Christmas season together. I was quite teary reading back and I'm just so happy everything is getting better. And wow...the magic of the internet. I think you should submit this story to your local news station or paper. It's so refreshing to hear of something positive coming from the internet. And how often does one get to be on tv? OTHER than mugshots? :)

Cheryl @ TFD said...

Haha! That last photo is too funny! Yep, payday is a comin'. Look out!

Good luck with the decorating. I've yet to get started. I have been just totally lazy this week and I need to get going. Christmas is just 3 weeks away! Yikes!

I almost busted a side when I saw that Elf on a Shelf picture! You're too funny! I feel your pain, my house is filled with boxes and bins everywhere.....we're in the process of getting our home ready for sale, yet I'm supposed to be decorating for Christmas? Give me strength! I'm your newest follower! xoxoKathleen

And aren't you the one who posted pictures of an organized basement with all those tubs lined up so perfectly?

Diana, I keep clearing off the big kitchen table and then by the time my husband comes home it's covered again. I have to have a launch pad somewhere.

You've been a little busy lately so enjoy this creative time.

I am so happy that things are getting back to normal for your family now!!

Diana, you are bad! Your hero is going to get you back! I love the picture with matching sleep masks- it's so dang cute! I'm thrilled that precious boy is doing well now! It's so good to see you back and decorating!

LOL,,Love your hubby and elf photo!
My bonus room looks like that all year round. Every year I say "not another year" and this may just be the year that I give 'most' of my decorations to my children, it's getting hard going up and down stairs a dozen times a day.

Diana, So very thankful your grand is home and eating; he will regain his strength soon-but praying for him just the same. I can't wait to see your home decorated. Would cherish prayers over the house we are trying to buy-God's favor and peace for me(I tend to get a bit stressed, we've had disappointments before).
Thanks my dear friend.

You just have too much crap. We are so much alike. I hope you got them to haul the stuff back down after you picked through it and got it done. I think there is a law against sleeping with an elf...

Hi Diana, I remember that basement from last year, EEK!
So glad there is a slight return to normalcy.
We have been traveling through several northern (to us) states. We plan to leave southern Illinois early tomorrow morning to try to get out of the way of the storm.
I will check back in when I get home.
Love to all, Ginger

OMG how funny - your honey is going to have a fit if he see's that picture LOL
I don't feel so bad now after seeing all your stuff - that's what my living room looked like - I was afraid that someone would come to the house and think I was a hoarder.
Finally got the empty boxes back to the garage and now I can hardly walk through there.
So glad that the little one is home and feeling so much better.
Take care of yourself.
Mary
