More Answers to ASK ME ANYTHING

Wow!  Y'all sure have lots of questions
and I am going to answer some more of them.
But----first----
Here's a few more pics of our trip so far.
We hit Grand Marias, MI
And visited Eagle Harbor & Manistique, MI
Alrighty then:
Here are some of the things you asked.
Questions:
How do I visit so many people
 and leave comments?
How do I develop relationships with bloggers?
How do I know so much about other bloggers?
How do I get comments?
Answer:
When I visit someone's blog I READ it.
Usually every word.
If it is full of pictures of the same thing I usually skim the pictures
quickly but read the content.
I might mark it to go back
to look at pictures later
in more detail.
I HARDLY EVER read anyone else's comments
that have been left before mine on a blog.
I don't want it to influence MY comment
and if I did that I would not have time
to visit so many of you.
If I follow your blog
you are most likely on my sidebar.
I want to honor every blogger-
not just a chosen few.
If you took the time to write it
and I am going to visit you,
I am going to take the time to read it.
That's how I come to know all of you so well.
I think I get comments because
I connect with people.
I don't care WHO you are-
if you are REAL that is the person
I want to know.
I don't care if you live in a tent
or a mansion because
money and things
DO NOT define who you are.
I think people respond to me
because they know that
I genuinely care about them and their families.
I also think SweetCheeks
has been a good drawing card for me!  LOL
Questions:
How long have I been blogging?
How do I blog everyday &
 balance life & blogging?
How do I go about blogging?
Answer:
I have been blogging about 3-1/2 years.
I started blogging after my friend, Jettie, started
blogging for books. I liked the idea.
For the first few months
I did not get hardly any comments-
some days I got no comments at all.
But, I was writing my blog as a family "history"
so that my kids/grandkids
would remember things
that happened.
Then, I started visiting other blogs
and commenting
and following blogs.
I changed my writing style and shortened my posts
because I find short posts the easiest to read.
(LOL-THIS one is getting a little long though!;>)
I think most people just want the highlights anyway.
.
I take photos all the time and
I write notes to myself.
I may post something SweetCheeks said 2 weeks after she says it-
but when the time comes I have the pictures
ready to match the post.
I also do things probably a bit different
when I write my post.
Once I decide what I am going to write about
I figure out which pictures I am going to use.
Then, as I am writing my story,
I post my pictures
one at a time as I go.

My "gift" if I have one is that I have a wicked
sense of humor-like my father did-
like some of my kids do.
I can see the joke in just about anything
and I try to end each post with a smile.
So...that's about it for this post.
I will answer more questions tomorrow-
keep 'em coming if you want.

Oh- yeah- Someone asked me what is the best
thing I have seen so far?
It's GOTTA be this!
Taken in Calumet, MI.
You didn't expect any less from me, did you?
your photo name

Love this! Sweet Cheeks and your humor attracted me to your blog, your comments and the content of your blog keeps me coming back. I feel like I am reading the blog of a long time friend!

Diana,
Spot on! If you want comments, leave some! Be personal, be sweet ( both of which you are!) and follow other blogs and let them know! I enjoy reading yours - sometimes I may not have time to comment but I am reading ( and I always try to leave a comment as often as I can!)
Hugs

This was a great post -- I love how bloggers so openly share what they know. I, too, started getting comments once I started leaving them. Looking forward to reading all of your "Q and A's!"

they broke the mold when they made you, you are the best!

We share slightly different philosophies, but I am in total agreement with reading what other bloggers write, IF I am taking the time to comment at all. Monkey Business is the BEST thing you saw? = D

Hi Diana! I love you and I do appreciate your comments and the fact that you're real! Just being yourself shows in blogland and I love that. Not to mention, you're a hoot and I'm a hoot and I love hoots.

You do a great job with your blog. I've been blogging since December of 2005 and I've written every day except when storms knocked our power off for several days. Even then I'd drive to the local McDonand's and use their WiFi.
I think the reason a lot of people don't get many comments is that they make their posts too long and sometimes the blogs don't lend themselves to comments. If you've said it all, or your stance on something is way out in left field, some people prefer not to comment.
Great post.

I made the comment changes on my blog Diana. I've got my fingers crossed that it works.

Knowone can duplicate who you are as a person. God made you.

I liked your comment here.

I don't care if you live in a tent

Right on Girl.

How nice is that.

Have a great day.

I seldom read the other comments, either. I read the blog and look at pictures and I feel almost like distant family. Actually - I know more about Sweet Cheeks than I do most of my own cousins kids - so maybe that's why. She has definitely been a big drawing card! :-)

I'm guilty of reading other comments especially on funny posts because sometimes the comments are every bit as funny as the post LOL !!!

I have learned so much from this post! I have not been to the UP fo a long time. The pictures you are posting make long for a trip up there soon. Won't happen right now, but I can dream. Have you ever typed one handed with a puppy on your lap? :) Not easy, but it keeps her out of trouble! Anyway enjoy the rest of your trip.

Lol, I love that sign! Thanks for giving us some insight about how you blog. We all probably do things a little differently, but being genuine is number one with me. Thanks so much for sharing.

We love your monkey business, Diana. You're the real deal and we adore you and your wickedness. I hope you don't know toooo much about me. I might be in trouble. ;)

Has the weather been wonderful there? I subscribe to Midwest Living and love the articles on the UP.

None of your answers surprise me. You could write a book on blogging etiquette. All that you wrote is informative, as well as entertaining.

Good job, teacher!

I love reading your posts because they are meaningful and from the heart. You are not just writing a post to get x-hits a day to make number. I love that you always respond to comments. I hardly ever leave comments to blogs that don't reply back...my time is precious just as others is. Enought said. Virtual hugs to you.

Laughing at the "monkey business!" It has been fun to do the question and answer session with you. It is easy to learn that you are a sincere and caring person just by following your blog. Sending you wishes for continued fun and safe travels! xo Nellie

Diana, I had to read this twice to absorb it all. :-)

Thank you for your example and for the lesson. You are real and it has always amazed me that you (and several other bloggers who have so many followers) would take the time to read my little blog. I started mine for the same reason - to record family history and things about the kids.

Thanks to Sweet Tea who introduced me, you were one of the first to read, comment and follow. I have met so many kind people.

You're a blessing. xoxo

You are one of the lucky folk who can roll through the hard times and come back with a quip about life. To me, that means you see the bigger picture and have faith that today is not 'everyday'. Who wouldn't want to tune in each day to that kind of attitude?

Hi there, I found your blog by way of "Yours till Butter Flies" today. I believe I have found your blog before thru Susan Branch probably. I am adding your blog to my favorites and will join it as well. These pics of Grand Marais caught my attention. I am from Michigan, Warren to be exact. I am guessing that you are from Michigan also. We stopped in Grand Marais just a month ago after dropping off our son at Northern Michigan University. He is a 17 yr old freshman. I love Grand Marais. This was our 2nd time there. We visited the town about 22 years ago with our 2 yr old daughter at that time. The bay was so beautiful then. This time it was all grown over with grasses on the beach. Was surprised to see that. My grandmother was born in Grand Marais. Thank you for sharing your life with all of us.

Catching up on your posts this fine Sunday afternoon. Yes, I know when you write comments that you have read the post. I do too, I read every word because I want to.....What is the use of this whole blogging thing if you don't. I never read previous comments either unless it is the most hideous project or I don't understand the post and I am at a loss for words. Yes, you do connect and you do care...Thats the magic! Oh, and you are fun and funny too!
