Happy First Day Of Fall and Gardening For Fairies

I am taking a little break from the
Ask Me Anything Questions.
I don't want to bore you to tears
with my babble.

TODAY is the FIRST DAY of FALL.
WHERE did the summer go?
I guess it is time to give it over.
I have held out as long as I can.
FALL?
I say BRING IT ON!
Remember before Pinterest?
I had books-lots and lots of loose leaf books.
They were full of ideas and things that I love.
I am digging a few of them out for
FALL IDEAS.
Most of them came from

Outside I am entranced by this.
Fall is just moving in but there is lots of green left.
I would love to have chairs and plants
that looked like this.
How about a little corner of the garden
decorated like this?
At the end of the day
 what could be better than
hanging out by a firepit?
Know what else is magical about Fall?
A Fall Fairy Garden?
Do you remember that the girls and I
put together a Fairy Garden of our very own?
Here is what it looked like when we first made it.
Want to know how it looks
decorated for Fall?
We let the fairies
take care of their own garden this year.
Can you spot the house?
Stinking Fairies!!!!

  1. Diana, That fairy garden made me laugh. Our fairies around here have not done any better. The flowers grew taller than the little garden critters and there house.:):) This year I just haven't helped them as much...it was so hot this summer. I love looking at the garden areas in Better Homes & Gardens. You know you have be in the gardens just about everyday to have them look that good. Maybe next year..we can dream. xoxo,Susie

  6. Slacker Fairies! : ) I just found a nursery not far from me that has a whole lot of fairy garden related items, as well as some they've made up for inspiration. It makes me want to take my tiny way to another level. They even have the small plants. I think I will wait until Spring though. Those pictures are gorgeous, Diana! Makes me wish for a yard again.

  7. Happy Autumn. I am waiting for the leaves to change color but I am not looking forward to winter.

Darned old fairies. You would think they would leave things alone. :-)

  12. The gnomes have been a bad influence! Shame!:-) These are lovely pictures - something to have for a goal, at least. I'm not sure there are enough years remaining to accomplish it around here. xo Nellie

  19. Fall gardens in magazines are always so warm and inviting and beautiful. My yard always, and is starting to now, looks like a soggy, overrun, unmowed, spider-infested, mess. I HATE gardening this time of year, and that's sayin' a lot from the likes of me.

I still have all my pages from magazines pre-pinterest as well. They're all organized in accordion files. It's fun to go through them and actually TOUCH the inspiration photos.

I think you had the rebel fairies move in. They're out riding Harleys instead of keepin' up with the landscape.

  20. I just love fall color. Wish we had more trees that gave us fall color here but alas it is SoCal.

  21. You can never leave gardens to others especially fairies because nature just takes over and it probably suits them just fine.
