Cottages- The Winners and The Losers

So....girls...
I hope you had fun choosing a cottage yesterday.
The winners will each be getting the cottage of their choice sent to them.
Okay- I mighta lied about that.
Anyway...
It is interesting how many of you said the same
things about most of the cottages.
I loved that many of you wanted to pick a cottage
AND THEN
you wanted to move it.
I don't' remember offering you that option
but, hey, it is YOUR dream.
Some of you could not decide WHICH one you liked best so I gave you
both your votes-or all three of them...
Suz

I will share the top three winners here.

The Number One Winner-
with twice the votes of any other was
#1
I love that one, too.  It is cute and sweet
and makes me think of  a romantic hideaway.
I can see sitting on the front stoop
with a cup of coffee,
inhaling the scent of flowering plants,
and dreaming about a stroll down the street
to visit shops that are part of
the little town I live in.
However, this is NOT my dream cottage.

Second choice was
#12-The true storybook cottage.
Can't you just picture all the sweet nooks and crannies around each corner
of this dear little abode?
It looks like a place where magic
awaits at every turn.
You know there must be fairies flitting from
rooftop to swinging gate.
Although I love this one, it is not my favorite.

#3 is a TIE between
#5
Ten of you loved this one..but most of you
wanted to move it away from the road.
I love the sweet simplicity of this....
the overgrown floppy gardens...
It make me think of secret stories
told in front of the fireplace.
I love this one, too, but it is not my first choice.

The tie for third place also includes
#8
And there, my friends, lies my heart.
It is set on an ocean inlet, with palm trees
that rustle in the wind.
The lapping of the waves would lull me to sleep
at night and the sun would break bright
and warm me as I drank my first cup of coffee
sitting in the deck chair on the porch.
I would then walk the beach and
converse with God
and my day would be blessed.
Several of you wanted to move the cottage you loved most
to the water. (Lynn)-lol
Some of you love the thought of living in
the peace and quiet of rural America.
I grew up like that and never saw
BIG WATER until I was in my 20s.
Once I did-it had me.
The sea calls my name to
Come Home.
Maybe someday~

Want to know what got NO votes?
Isn't it interesting?
No one wants to be too rustic, or too modern.

So, Ladies.
This was fun.
Just wondering....
Do you think something like this might be fun to do
once in a while?
Something besides cottages next time-
Let me know.

Have a wonderful day,
I am back at my friend Ruth's house
today-we are tackling the basement.
If I don't come back tonight
please come and open the trunks
to try and find me!

What beautiful cottages. This was a fun poll. We've rented for 10 years a simple cottage in the sand dunes of Lake MI. It's the perfect oasis. This year we took the girls on a road trip out west and skipped the cottage. It was missed.

Have fun digging at Ruth's house.

Diana, The number 1 cottage is the one I liked best too. Gosh going in the basement...The longer we live here the more "stuff" is put in the basement and I hate this. So if your friends have lived there a long while...well ..expect lots of "stuff"
Hope there are treasures down there. Take your camera. xoxo,Susie

I love all the 1 thru 3 cottage winners. I never would have picked the one that got no votes either. Have a great week, Laura

They are so cute....but yeah, no rustic or modern.
So, when will my cottages be delivered to me??
XOXO

Oooh, I love that number 1 cottage too... I could sooo live there!... I don't like modern anything, so that one would be out... fun post!... xoxo Julie Marie

Ok, I missed your cottage post, Diana. Headed over there to pick out my favorite one. You WILL be sending it to me, right???

I was late to the party! I would have struggled between #2 (the simple white by the lake), or #3 (the treehouse)!
Have fun downstairs!

Super fun. Although, I'm sad to see nobody loved my favorite, I'm glad I'll be the only one living in it. :)
Aaaand, if I had known we could make changes, I would have mentioned the gardens I would have been planting all around the outside of it and the window boxes under all the windows. It's going to be perfect. :)

I love those cottages. I missed out on the voting. The girls are here for the week, so I'm not getting much computer time. But - oh, the fun that we've had! Anyway, I think I'm going to agree with the others that those top three are pretty sweet. You can just drop any one of them into my backyard and I'll be happy. Or - since no one else wants the rustic brown one on the no list, I would take that one. It would make a nice storage shed/playhouse!

I did like the Victorian House too but thought it might be too much work. Getting lazy in my old age!

Awwww, I missed the fun. There's always next time. Those cottages are so cute. They are so so charming. Don't work too hard. xo Linda

That was fun! I would like to do this again.

Though I love them all, I would also have to pick the one by the ocean. Oh my, that is a dream of mine! To live near the water and hear the sound of the waves. Heaven.

Hi girl, Don't know how I missed yesterday's post-maybe it was my 6 granddaughters running through the house and making noise. I'm with you on your pick-love it and also the True Storybook Cottage reminded me of Carmel Ca. This was fun and I hope you do it again.
Hugs, Noreen

It was fun! But all I could think of with that top cottage was no place to escape from DL when he's cranky.

Fun post - let's do it again!

Yes, it's fun definitely!

with as many cottages images are on the net you could just keep doing those, or classic movie houses, or in like-kinds, like choose your favorite castle, Victorian, log cabin, ranch one floor onlies, etc.

Neat idea, I'm game, thanks.

I love that beach home too but I like being "protected" and not just jutting out there waiting for monsoon season....if I had a beach home I would want to be close to water but not high up right ON the water, not a huge fan of hurricane seasons.

Hugs

I hope you do this again...it was fun! I love looking at homes and dream of living in a number of them. If hubby were willing, I'd move every few years! :)

I'll bet Ruth's basement will be interesting to go through. Have a nice day!

Hi Diana,
I loved that one on the water. It is so gorgeous. I love the sound of the sea and the smell of the ocean too. Ohhhhhh sandy beaches!!!! All were great choices but I did like the water cottage.

The sea calls my name. Someday I want to live close enough to walk to the beach! I would be happy with a couple of rooms! lol Enjoy your day my friend! Sweet hugs!

Of course my excellent taste picked #1. :)

Living on the water would be wonderful, but I like lakes instead of the ocean.

Sew a Fine Seam said...

this was fun Diana - though I didnt' have time to pick a cottage. I think I love the one by the road - I'm picturing a place where the only road traffic is on foot or by bicycle. And even that is sparse :)

Shirley said...

Hi Diana, I just want a place in the country where the neighbors can't hear you if you fight with your other half or no when you come and go. Someplace in the country where you don't have to worry about all of the codes that they want you to live by. I am just catching up with you all been a little busy. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.

I really like the stone cottage but it is too close to the road. When I saw the beach house I thought...storms...lol.

The basement always has the BEST stuff! Bring the goodies upstairs, please!

I'm with you - give me a cottage by the sea and I'd be in heaven! Hope you had fun in the basement. Hope there are no spiders making nests in your hair right about now.

Diana,
I think that Jess would pick the cottage that you liked, as she loves to live by the water too. So glad you liked my cottage choice. It is such a romantic and charming one, and I guess I'm a bit of a romantic myself.

Yes, this was a fun post, and would love to see you do something like it again.

Love,
~Sheri

There isn't one cottage here that I wouldn't love to spend time in regularly! Even the ugly/rustic one. I never mind fixing up an underdog!
I think features like this are fun. Everyone seems to like them.

Robyn said...

Yep, I picked number one as well and I can see why the other two got no votes.. One was just way too modern and the other was just well, it just 'was' if you know what I mean.. Ohh trunks? I can only IMAGINE what she has in there!.

This was a fun post. I hope you do it again.. Thank You :)

Judy at GoldCountryCottage said...

Well, Diana, just like me to come in at the tail end of something. I missed yesterday's post also so I have no idea what is going on. But, if I did, I would pick Cottage #1. I bet you could have guessed that..I am now going backwards (as usual) to yesterday's post..Happy Tuesday..Judy

The cottage next to the road is my favorite too. It's probably in rural Ireland and the road is for people and sheep only. Or so I'd like to believe. The other side looks over Bantry Bay and the water lulls you to sleep as you converse with God and dream of the fairies every night. This was a fantasy right?
