An Unplanned Bird In The Hand

A day or so after I
got home from Florida
I found a sweet little
protective envelope
waiting for me
in my mailbox.

My heart always beats
a tad faster when I
get ANYTHING personal
in the mail
(and I am not talking all
those advertising and sale
catalogs with my name on them).

That's not what this was.
No! Indeedy!

I opened it to find the
sweetest little bird painting
ever.
~A precious little watercolor~

Laurie at
painted it
FOR ME.
She knows I love little birds
and this is
JUST FOR ME!

Before I show you though I want
to encourage you to go visit
Laurie if you don't know her.
She is one of the most courageous
women I have ever met...
suffering a brain injury that
is robbing her of her sight.
She talks about it freely and
is still
accepting and dealing with
every gift life has given her.
She is all embarrassed reading this
now but I want her to know
how much she is loved.

So...that being said,
Look at this!
I'm sorry but my photos
don't do it justice!

I started playing around with
the little table in the front hall.
Like the lamp...
The shade covered with leaf images.
a nice tie in to the bird theme.
Like the picture next to the lamp
BUT..
the birdcage is TOO BIG.
Okay...
Let's try this~petite birdhouse
And a sweet little bird....
Ah...much better..and...
let's add a little leather covered
Audubon Bird Book
Looking pretty cute
if I do say so myself.

Now, do you see the
little bird here?
He is hiding in the other room
next to the newly
PAINTED TV.
Why is he hiding you ask?
Well, because
SweetCheeks has dropped him
so many times that he is
wingless on one side
and can no longer fly away
when she approaches.
And all this time
SweetCheeks
thought he liked her
for giving him rides.

Poor baby!

Hi Diana, I adore your bird vignette and of course the painting by Laurie. You have arranged everything so beautifully. Yes, Laurie is a very sweet and dear lady and I am honoured to have her as a friend and neighbour. She is also a good little baker and often brings me a sample of her baking. I am blessed. Have a wonderful day Diana. It's blizzardy here today so I probably will not venture out - too hard to walk in this weather. Huggers, Chris

I think this came out a day early. We set our clocks tomorrow night. But thank you for the reminder. I need reminded that the light is going to change so I can accomodate for it when booking outdoor sessions.

Wow! She did an awesome job on that bird painting. That is so sad to hear about what happened to her. I love her attitude though. I dread setting my clocks forward this weekend. That means we all lose an hour of sleep. Boo hoo!

What a sweet little bird painting, such a thoughtful gift. I love your little vignette and I also have to hide certain things around here due to "loving" hands. :)

Oh my gosh! Talented painter for sure. I soo wish I could create such things....

I've thought sooo many times about painting my black monster. But...when my AGPMan spilled it out onto the floor and it busted up it SAVED ME from having to do the work! :)

He's getting a flat-screen for his office. I don't care WHAT's in there! :)

I adore Laurie. I have one of her original roosters in my living room. She sent it to me...and along with the rooster was a hand painted card of a little bird. That's framed and in my sewing room. Your little picture looks adorable on your table. Good job. Hope you have fun plans for the weekend. Have a good one!
